    yes he will because you have one at each end , and they are for ferreting so plenty of rabbits will be hitting a short area (in theory ) so closely laid poles will help keep the net up. Expert in longnetting now are you? I will listen to people who have done it and know.     Bloody hell never had such quick answers .Thanks lads so what i can gather from the differant answers is 5 would be the norm. I have used short stop nets for a while now when ferreting and they are worth there wait in gold,its just sometimes rabbits run round them as the are only short,so was after something that bit longer. I have just got some new ground with what i think you long netters call blind sets or something, where the warrens are at the bottom of a hill and the rabbits feed on top on a good night,so depending how i go with these 25yd ones i might get a 100yd one for the future.N

    Don't think i can take much more of this housework its not as easy as it looks.I tried the ironing in my pants as the good lady does i can not get the creases out,didn't have a clue how many tablets to put in the washing machine,then i had to seperate all the whites from the colours,feck me you need a degree to get the thing working to many lights and buttons .     Nice going mick good post and pics,that ground sure does look hard . My snaring was not so good,took 2 rabbits in the fence snares and a fox got them,you could see where he had laid down to eat,leaving me with a very kinked wire and a head,last time i laugh at STEALTHY1 .Once the livestock is out these fields i will hit the place hard with the snares.Some cracking runs in the field as you can see from the pics.     Went up to my new bit of ground today with the good lady and the dog,enjoying a warm stroll when she fell down a rabbit hole and twisted her ankle.Yesterday when i was ferreting my dad fell down a hole and got his leg tangled in brambles that left his leg ripped to shreds. Of course the good lady says its my fault for going up there for a walk and not somewhere else,so its my fault she walks round with her eyes shut,she is now sat in the chair giving me orders fetch me this,get me that etc .Wish i had gone on my own now .     There was no way i was going back down that hill at my time of life .I couldn't fetch it anyway i could not stop laughing as he was hobbling down the hill muttering something about "POXY FECKING WIND" . KAY my dad as me in stiches,the things he does or says.We was sat in the car having a brew,he chucked the dreggs out his cup the wind blow it back at him and all down the side of the car .It took him half an hour to take the end of day shot of me,all he had to do was press one button he couldn't even mange that without knackering up the camera

    You can't buy the six strand wire,you get six strand snares when you spin the brass wire together,pm WOODGA and get a copy of his dvd,it will tell you everything you need to know Pegged snares are more effective when set on the open runs,not on the burrows.

    Out this morning on the ground i got last week,the wind was very strong gusty.Arrived at the first sett,put the nets down and waited,10 mins later .............WHOOSH..........rabbit hits the net quickly followed by another that got away,it ran the way i was going to set the stop net if i could have got the fecking poles in the ground like concrete,managed to get them in a fraction then a gust of wind and it was over ,in the end put it back in the motor pointless carrying it with us.Another 2 bolted from a hole we did not see,and ran the same way as the last one .     Hi mate,that rabbit was one of this years young,they grow a bit bigger then that down here.The rabbits up your way are bigger then down here,when i was lamping with you,woodga and robsharpe when i had hold of a rabbit for dispatch i noticed they was a good sized rabbit bigger then here.And the kidneys were surrounded by a thick layer of fat. I think its because the rabbits up there know your dogs are no good,so they don't have to run so much,so they just get fatter

    Suppose MrT .. but I'd try other methods if your going to plan on reducing rabbit numbers at warrens with any scale, as sticking pogo anchors all over seems counter productive, time and effort wise... If you only want to put a few out on a select couple of warrens to trap now and then, jobs a good un... I only set a few at a time now and again,i normally chuck a few down when i need ferret food as the title of this post say's . I am a ferreting man at heart so i would sooner ferret rabbits then trap them at this time of year.Summertime i would trap or shoot a couple for the ferrets.
