  6. I don't use these anchors all the time on my fenns,if you look at the last pic you will see a wooden peg,it depends on the area i am setting them, here where these was set was clay so not a problem, but some places its light sandy soil and the pegs pull out easier. I have had foxes take the rabbits and the traps so i had to spend time looking for the traps sometimes never to be found again. So when i got these of woodga for some fox snares i thought i would try them on the fenns and up till now i have never lost a trap to foxes, they have had the rabbits but the traps are still there,so while it

  13. These are the ones i use, once in the ground they have to be dug out as you can not pull them out. I use this type on my fenns and bodygrips. All you have to do to fix them to the trap is get some 2.5mm wire and make like the thing you find on a keyring then just thread on to the ring of the trap . Hammered into the ground say 7-8 inches they will not come out, then when you have finished trapping that hole just put them to the side for when you need them again, they will never rust and are there for ever.
  14. It will be a struggle on my own but i think i will manage it .
  15. It is mate the runs are like motorways just have to wait for the horses to be moved, then its all hands on deck
  16. them traps look nice TP,i,am setting a few in the morning in some big sand sets , its the only place near me where you can get a peg in the ground, tried to set a few snares yesterday ,you could,nt get the peg ,or the tealer into the ground, could do with a weeks rain ,followed by a couple of good frosts Just sprayed them with black paint, stops them rusting while be in set in wet ground. I know what you mean about the ground, like iron round here could do with a drop of rain or two.
  17. Phone rang this morning, 6.30AM So still very much asleep i answered,it was a guy who does the shooting on the farm i go on.He said he had been to a farm to sort himself some shooting. And while he was there the farmer asked if he could ferret some rabbits,he said he couldn't be knew a man who can, hence the 6.30 phone call. So after a few cups of tea to wake me up(about 5 cups to be honest )i went to meet him and the landowner. Pulls into the yard and jumped into his landrover,he shown me the fields and what was his. Then said have a walk round then come to the farm to let him know if i can
  18. Went to the farm yesterday to set a few fenns.Went to a warren where i saw a couple of rabbits drop into, went to set the fenns but the ground was like concrete and most of the holes where in amongest the undergrowth,so out of the 10 traps i had with me i set 5,i was not going to bother but i thought well i am here now. Went back this morning to check,i had a rabbit in one and just the front half of a rabbit in another, bloody fox thank god i use earth anchors or the trap would have gone. Also landed some new permision today i will put a post up in the ferreting section.
  19. Thanks for the replies folks. The ferrets are this years young from a early april litter,so they are about 6 months old. MARKSMAN,your right nothing beats the sound of the "thunder"
