Hes grown about an inch in the last 5-6 days too

depends on your terminology to me, a dog like this, whether it be smooth or hairy can be called a roo dog or a staghound, yes hairy dogs are normally called staghounds, but i will call them either, as they are one and the same, u can get smooth and hairy out of the same litter so why should they have to be called any different? dont know about the beardie in it, they are normally made up of deer, grey and wolf, some have borzoi in them. from what ive been told this guys dogs go way back, his father had the line over east and they brought it over here.

here is the pics of the new addition to the family, have high hopes for this one. We found out after that his dad is the brother of my mates old roo dog, who died a year ago. The bitch he currently has now is a relative of my pup here littermates for comparison, mines the one on the right my pup, his name is Chief here is the dad, who is a full brother(littermate) to my mates old dog bullet. Ive always wanted a dog from this line as bullet was a very good dog, great nature etc here is a family shot, minus the dad Dark black/brindle is the mum other bigger ye

how about after its healed putting methylated spirits on the tail, to harden the skin, anyone ever tried that? i know it can be used to harden feet up, just curious if its been tried by anyone...

why dont u lot all go and nail a fox or two as respect to him dont know who he is, but he sounds like the kind of asshole that we dont need
-
half your luck mate, we dont really get deer where i am, wish to hell we did we do get kangaroos by the million, and if those deer are as plentiful as the roos are here u could knock 100 easy in a year
-
haha im going to look at a couple of pups today, both are the yellow style old kangaroo dog, the line goes back 60 years from what the guy told me, it started out on the other side of australia and he brought them over here when he moved he said he used to knock the brindle ones on the head to when they were born, till the kids figured it out
-
cant see why u couldnt have one and have a dog that works fox together, i know a guy who has a heap of pig dogs and has a huge feral pig as a pet, dogs dont worry it at all here tho, they are a pest, i think if u kept one here u'd get locked up
-
i use a litter tray to, dont use wood shaving tho, i just use the local newspaper, so much crap in it anyway lol i did have to clamp it to the side of the hutch, and put food in the other corner ... mine doesnt seem to like going where there is food...

has anyone ever dyed a dogs hair? possibly if u could get a dye that wont cause issues, then u could colour your dog whatever.... as for injuries etc, where i go ur lucky to see another car all night, hell u might not even see one for days at a time
-
unfortunately adam is right, however western australia is 1/3 of australia in total, so is a lot of area to run around in... a lot more then any nosey f****r can keep an eye on anyway lol

personally i like the lighter colours, easier to pick up in the light we dont do beating here so its not an issue, most of our hunting is done out of the car in paddocks I really dont like the brindle colour, just a personal thing, and i have to admit i hate the staffy type brindle colour, the sighthound coat is a lot more easier on my eye, but i'd still prefer a different colour but as has been said, working ability is a lot more important then colour, if i have to get a brindle then so be it...

ive been to both those sites (valeska and Dutchs site) they are both good, and yeah i am a huge fan of the hairy stags, or smooth stags over here, which are called kangaroo dogs as far a ridgeys go, a south african fella put me onto some good advice... he said, a lions teeth are inches longs, and their claws are sharp as needles and inches long, their paw is the size of your head, now a dogs claws are short and blunt, and their teeth are half an inch at best, their paws you could wrap in your own u see they could not find a dog that was tough enough to hunt lions, so they bred
-
if u make too much noise above ground they wont bolt
-
some of ur stags over there look good from the few pics ive seen, do you know of any good sites in the US for staghounds mate? best looking stag ive seen is from that book gazehounds and coursing, that "Sport" www.boardogs.com also under the crossbreeds section has some staghounds/kangaroo dogs u would all probably enjoy reading about them and seeing the few pics

the early aussie settlers used the deerhound x greyhound because their original greyhounds were to slow in the bush, they couldnt dodge the tree's, also their feet knocked up very quickly, they also tended to get killed often the put the deerhound into the greyhound to toughen the feet up, give a bit more size and to enable them to run through the scrub better without poleaxing some 100 year old gum tree :11: there is very little information on them, but what you can get points to this cross being the best they had at the time some add wolfhound to the mix, others bull, IMO addin

my dog once jumped up from a standing start above my head from about her mid ribs up she could jump, bloody jumped on everything, jumped on the dining table once, was my fault tho, i was getting her jumping on the plastic table outside i got some metal panels(not sharp edges, like shelves) and put it in between her bed and food and the yard started small and increaded it, she used to jump the pool fence too, which would of been maybe 5 foot high

went ferreting on the weekend, i noticed there are no fleas on the warrens we did up there, unlike another place i have ferreted which seems to have heaps i just dust her wtih flea powder every day i am in flea country like i said tho, no mixy seen here for years by me
-
reminds me of the first time i dropped my jill down with a mates hob, she sprayed the hob :11:
-
Hi guys was thinking about it the other day, is it feasible that fleas that jump onto a ferret from one warren that are carrying mixi could spread it to other warrens if working them and the fleas were to jump off do you think its even worth worrying about, i thankfully have not seem mixy in nearly 10 years roughly
-
so woody a whole hob, snipped hob, and 2 jills 1 desexed would not get on? at this stage im thinking 1 hob, 2 jills, one which is desexed
-
we did that the other week to some young cubs, i was making noises with my mouth and the fox came running it, kept running in when my mate was making the sqeaking noise, we couldnt get it very loud, but it still came in, slowed up a bit, but that may of been because we were talking a bit to whil ethat one was being run another one started coming in too, and the whole time there was another bunch of them just into the scrub fighting, they sound just like tasmanian devils dont they!!
-
Hi guys, Im getting a few additions in a couple of weeks, I currenlty have a desexed jill scenario 1 what i was wondering is would 2 hobs fight if i got 2 hobs? I havent decided on what i am getting yet, but thought i best to know before any issues arise sceanario 2 if i get a hob and jill and get the hob desexed would intorducing another hob inot the mix later cause issues? cheers all
