two legged munty????

dummy, toy, ball....just use whatever is his favourite. if you want to back to real basics, go with what paulus has said and only 2 - 3 retrieves for each session. if after the third time it works, end on a high with lots of play and fuss. and if it feels like it isn't going to work today, tomorrow, whenever...then sack it and stop the session. try again anaother time.

a very true point mate. if you're happy your dog dont jump, then so be it.
-
who said anything about terriers???????
-
a lurcher is a working animal and jumping is one on the list of disciplines that make up a working animal. if it dont do one of these things, then its not a lurcher and just a simple crossbreed. What if you're ferreting and working hedgerows, with some fencing along it and the rabbit bolts on the other side that your not on. if your dog dont jump, are you seriously telling me that will be happy to lift your "lurcher" over to go catch it. i can think of loads of similar scenarios, feck that shite.

I know for a fact i wouldn't get enough work if i charged £10 per mole. I get plenty of mole work because my nearest competitors charge £8.25 - £8.75. I therefore go in at £7.50 per mole and take all the work from them lads. dog ate dog world, and all that. I charge £45 for domestic jobs.

I run my own pest control business with my own website and a access to the content and run the admin on it. If you have the same with your website then please read on, however if someone does it for you then maybe a little more complicated. Sorry if i'm teaching you suck eggs and you already know this but.....All websites want to be higher on google and this is done with SEO (search engine optimisation). SEO needs good content and backlinks to and from other sites that are related to each other, "PEST CONTROL" in this instance. Therefore i am asking for those pest controllers with complete

derbylad1 replied to Josh1996's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
unfortuatly, you may have to bite the bullet and not work him for a bit. he might need too much more important things to do first. and theres too many to mention to be honest -
Advice On Recall And Basic Training
derbylad1 replied to Josh1996's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
i think you've answered your own question their mate...you say its coming on, so yes he'll get it soon enough(if your doing it right). As for recall, i believe its the most important thing any dog should learn, as its the base for all further training. i wouldn't even working in the field until the recall is sorted. what happens if he decides to just feck off. he should also be broken to livestock prior to any hunting mate. You say the last owner didn't do much with him, so he's probably missed out some special man/dog time. let him be a puppy for a while, let him enjoy life for a -

Advie On Keeping And Working Ferrets
derbylad1 replied to browning gts's topic in Ferrets & Ferreting
your a farmer and you must have land to work ferrets/dogs on. there will be plenty of experienced chaps that will leap at the chance to take you out and show you the ropes. its the best of learning, as books/dvd's/forums do tend to tell you ideals and not their mistakes. and as we all know, we learn from our mistakes. Young ferrets might work "ok"n in their first season, but one thats over a year old gives you a better chance of a better worker. but you never know as some youngens work well on their first season. -
dick!!!! hope he is on here. he might read these posts and think, "yep, i'm a complete knob!!!"

the only gortex jackets that are green, like what your after will be foreign ones. the british army have never issued them, hope it helps with your looking.
-
you shouldn't have to tie your dog, get him rock staedy to ferrets first. A dog needs to be taught a lot of things before it goes into the field to work and being broken to ferrets needs to be a priority. If and when he starts to pay attention to holes, never praise him for it, otherwise it'll encourage false marking. a good marking dog is worth its weighht in gold.

wish i had a transaction number....leave her a message or two....lol

i wouldn't bother mate. you go out tonight when its very still, you'll knacker it up for when the weather is just right for long netting. And can i ask.....why are you taking a dog. will it just sit there and not move whilst you go out setting up.
-
she is only 18 months old and still very young. As already mentioned she is playing and not working/hunting. Dont try her with another dog, it might just f**k up her soft mouth and retrieving for the future(if thats what you want), it can also enhance many other bad traits. As for rats, no way. The rat might bite back, and to stop this she'll crunch down on it...again it could ruin a potenial soft mouth. Personally, she'll learn not to let go. When she catches, and lets go, and if the rabbit gets away...then penny will drop, "I wont let it go this time".

how do they get away with this!!

Responsible department: Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs The RSPCA use "bully boy" tactics against innocent members of the public to bring prosecutions. They often infringe on citizens civil and legal rights. They misuse funds which have been donated by members of the public specifically for animal welfare for their own political gain in bringing these often vexatious prosecutions. This petition asks

i wrote letters introducing myself, explained what you can do and any info you'd like to put across to the land owner. so if you have insurance, references etc etc. then give it a couple of weeks and then call them and what you get. most farmers aren't exactly socialable,(their best mate is a cow or a ewe, so give them some credit) so it'll be hard to talk to them. As for woods and industrial estates....it all belongs to someone and without their permission, its illegal

She's 29 mate.......oh sorry you meant the pup...lol She'll be 5 month old next week mate

Timber.....she is a feckin lunatic, but a dream to have around. She is totally the missus's bitch and they've bonded brilliantly and she has done a great job with the training. recall, retrieving and the sit & stay is all but cracked. cant wait to get her out next season. Chalkwarren.......go for it mate. if you have the time outside your work with luchers. I'm a beginner to the world of cockers, but i reckon you cant mix the two for the first year (please anyone correct me if i'm wrong here). You dont wont a little cocker pup taking on the same traits as a lurcher....that would be one
