your on and whenever ya like mate.
-
yeah very quick...but wont it taint the meat. looks like it bursts the bag
-
she's out of a litter from chester and timbers lily.
-
yeah last year i held xena back a bit as she was still young and i wanted to make sure she got the "right" runs on the lamp. This season coming will be a different matter, i'll be trying to push her boundries and see where her limits lie. Need to get out there......any offers welcome lads...lol

But some farmers want "all" rabbits gone. and you know what they're like, they see 3 or 4 and say theres hundreds about. But saying that, so far i've only had the one farmer asking me to get the numbers back a bit, so a quick shine normally keeps him happy for a while.

been out with two mate....little fuckers wouldn't stay still to find out what is happening below or about to happen. And with them permenantly running about, they where getting the lurchers all jeered for for f**k all. Great little bushing dogs but no good for ferreting that needs a ceratin amount of calm, steadiness and concertration. I might be wrong, but its from what i've seen. These cockers, were excellent to the hawks as well.
-
Thats what i like about the collie cross, they will stick to the job alot better than most. they also seem to figure out what is going on below a lot better. I'm not knock the beddy cross tho, seen some goodens but i think the collie cross suits me better.

I haven't read all the posts, so i apoligise if i repeat something. But i was really thinking of a working cocker to work the bushes/hedgerows and they're f****n great at it. however i love my ferreting too much and they're a nightmare when doing that. I think i'm gonna have to go for a good terrier for the future....time to think tho.
-
Steve, why was you stalking youngers?????.....again. i've told you about that mate.
-
I'd go back through some of the threads on here mate, there are so many of them. Almost any type of lurcher will do well at ferreting and every lurcher man/woman will have their own opinion on each cross breed. I've always had collie/grey or whippet/grey/collie and rate them very highly for the daytime work. But it doesn't mean i wont have another breeding in the future. If your going for a pup, then try and get some info on what the parents have done. Also you might get a pup that is very young for the forthcoming season, so do you have anyone that has a good seasoned lurcher that can sho

I'll eat most of the stuff i catch all year round, but only if the rabbits, hare is right and not to old and gonna be tough. I have taken to rabbit fajita's instead of chicken, even the missus likes it.

Where've you got this 'fact' from? Been feeding them on ferals shot from a farm I shoot at almost solely for the past couple of years. Last year I chucked a ferrel in for my ferrets, never again, my ferrets ended up with mites, I had mite bites all over me and it cost a fortune at the vets to get rid of them. Sorry mate..i worded that wrongly. What i meant was, that there has been more reports of disease being passed onto humans by pigeon than the rat.
-
Yeah, your mate might still be here and you might be right...the e-coli didn't affect him. but each to their own...lol

No bees are protected in the UK, where on earth did you get that info from? Thats what i said..re read it mate. Seriously, i spoke to the bee keeping association and defra on this. As i had big problem with a honey bee nest in the cavity of a school. You can only destroy if you can justify it.
-
I've done 31 different types(bumble, honey, masonary) of bees nests this year and only just done my 2nd wasp nest yesterday. They are well behind this year and not looking good as they're our biggest earner as a pest controller in July/August. As for bees being protected, yes they are until they go in homes, sheds etc....then they become pests....and then pests need controlling. its great our local council won't touch them and then the customers have to give me a call. I can then sell the honey bee nest for £100-150.

When you say pigeons lads, i hope you woodies and not feral. Feral pigeon can carry more decease than a swer rat...fact!!!

derbylad1 replied to SteveRasbridge's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
barbed wire...you cant beat it. -
look mate, what they're trying to say is, this is the wrong place to try and get some work for you to shoot on. you should've worded it better. I take it your in the army and you want to go out with the gun/air rife at weekends/leave? i'm sure someone will let you tag along

Mercian Regiment (Worcestershire and Foresters) in Nott's today...
derbylad1 replied to Born Hunter's topic in General Talk
I've just left that battalion last month, just goes to show what happens when you leave. Didn't even know it was happening. Derby & notts are great to march through until our asian friends start giving you a load of shit -
If the rabbits need shifting and it keeps the land owner happy then it has to be done...granted its not the best conditions to be doing it in. I'd look at other options tho, maybe long netting at night, shooting, lamping...if any are possible
-
Got to agree. In nearly 40 years of having ferrets, never known one to turn their noses up at any fresh meat
-
f**k knows...i'll him next time he's in the trap...lol
-
well xena is doing really well. shes doing 20+ hares every time and being doing that for the last 4 years. I know she has come from good breeding, because xena's already doing that many hares and is only 2 years old now.
-
still great pics coming in andy, and we're back on track with the minshaws. just one thing missing...still not enough seen of chester. Come on you did say you would...lol
