  1. Does it have a stop watch facility?
  2. They are all important as each other. Lurchers have many natural skill's, so more importantly the dog needs to know how and when to use them. This will hopefully come with experience. If the dog don't produce by 12 months old then do what many do........... cull it.

  5. The literature is shocking! There is more, it can't be real surely?
  6. Ahh well it gets better.... I live in the middle of some woods, and i'm certain that the would be thieves are comming onto my property via a bridge further down the road (there is a stream between the chickens and the road, with a 6 foot high wall supporting the road. We're lower than the road) there is no way they're comming round the front or over the stream. I've set some trip wires today and am planning on digging another booby trap tomorrow. I think that landing waist deep in fresh chicken poop and water will give them the right message. I've also placed another ad in the pap

  8. No Bad Dog - The Woodhouse Way, written by Barbara Woodhouse herself. Superb read!
  9. There's more..... Someone else not all that far away has also had birds taken. We've discovered that all of us have advertised our birds for sale in the local weekly free paper, then when called up and asked about the birds, we've all given out our addresses so the customer can "come and see the birds". It's definatly the same people going off the accents on the phone... the gits. None of us have the contact details of the interested buyer, so if you are selling your birds I'd recommend asking the caller for their number so you can call them back. Then you've at least got a phone numb
  10. I found this and some what but I can understand why people protect their stock I was awoken in the night with one of my cocks crowing, this was about 11:30pm. I got dressed quickly and grabed my bow and crossbow thinking it was a fox trying to get into one of the coops. Turns out it was a couple of guys trying to steal my birds! I shot at the coop (as a warning shot) then shone my flashlight at them and shouted that they should "keep still because I'm armed and prepared to shoot!" They ran off anyways (as you would) and the dog and I ran after them, but they where well away. They wh

  12. Simple answer then.......Yes but don't expect their full potential, however it will depend on what type you keep. You must condition them, worm them, treat for lice and mites ect.... Don't expect to just set them out and hope for the best. Maybe buy a book and read up Poultry Keeping before you buy.
  13. I have a couple IG X Light sussex growers here i am raising as meat birds, i think they may be a hen and cock so may keep them rather than cull to provide more next year? I use to have that cross Moll, they tasted lovely!

  16. Probably needs 3 more fields to run before it makes it's kill How old is the bitch?
  17. Nice to see more people being self sufficiant. In large fowl I have welsummers, sussex, marans plymouths ect which are still laying very well and into their 3rd year. Hens do tend to slow down in winter months, but I'm a strong believer of what type, and how much feed you're feeding them on to produce eggs for you all year round. I can't see why you can get a few for now if you can! I know most breeders would of culled or sold their unwanted stock by now. You will pay top whack in spring for any bird. If your stuck to find some pol then I have a few late hatchers in welsummer,

  19. I trained my dogs the Woodhouse way, can't beat it..... SSSSIT!
  20. I have been buying my meat from our local farm for 15years, and I can remember growing up eating what my dad had shot, caught or trapped. All game I shoot and catch we cook and eat. Friends love it here when we invite them over, they only get the best and they know it. I also remember a friend who used my lap top to order his shopping. £120 of "Frozen Farm Foods" meat I had a little word....
  21. I have a relative who has a fruit farm beside them which backs onto their small holding. Muntjac are always foraging around, great to see when your sitting in the garden having a beer, however we spent one week there sorting them out, I couldn't believe how many we ended up gralloching...like rats this way.
  22. Great little clip and a nice place to ferret. You are the future lads, well done!

  24. Sounds like more work is needed before you take him out again. You've tried him on short slips and he seems to be just not there yet. I would rest him up and carry on with your excercise programme for a while yet before going back out.
