  1. Bit further than the corner shop though. Given the price of diesel at the moment, I wonder if it is even worth driving to France?
  2. Savage when you think of it like that but it's true. Think about it, someone smoking 40 a day is going to be closer to £10 a day. Also when I smoked I would definitely smoke more when out drinking, so the 20 a day became 40 at the weekend. Don't want to appear smug because I know how hard it is, but the way things are at the moment that kind of money after tax is going to be very welcome to most people.
  3. I smoked from age of about 11 to 30 finally giving up about 3 years ago. Patches worked for me along with realising that I will always be a Smoker who doesn't smoke. I don't miss the coughing in the morning, sometimes until I was sick. They are incredibly addictive and so good luck if you want to quit. Imagine all the hunting kit you could buy with the £5 approx a day you spend on tobacco.
  4. We are going to Cornwall camping for 2 weeks this Summer. For the cost of the air fares alone we can buy a great tent. I have never been to Cornwall and am really looking forward to it. With the way the economy is looking at the moment, the benefits of a holiday in the UK are looking more and more attractive. The only thing I cannot get my head round is how expensive hotels are in the UK, hence the tent
  5. looks like a decent cheap motor, just the way I like them A fool and his money are easily parted, and that 4 x 4 will not owe you much when you decide to get rid. Good luck.
  6. My Grandad was POW who escaped and spent a year travelling back to England. When he arrived back it was the war was more or less over. Thanks very much for sharing that, as others have said it really puts things in perspective.
  7. My border is not very effective as Poacher2225 will testify. Her idea of bushing in the main is having a quick peek into the brambles, she does get stuck in every now and again but not enough. I think she needs an experienced dog to show her the ropes as she has a strong prey drive and is keen to please. The dog that Night Shadow just sold sounded perfect, but if I'm not careful I would buy every dog on here
  8. I had a similiar thing with a car I was selling for a friend. Only listed it as a favour, and it only went for £400 which he was happy with. By the time we realised what was happening second place had lost interest etc. Absolute waste of time, this one wasn't even trying to scam me just won the auction and never replied. Saying that I do still think ebay is great

  10. My borders breath got a bit fruity when I fed her on tinned food for a short while. Switched her back to dry and it is now sweet as a nut
  11. What I do is tell the dog to leave it before I take the food, bone or whatever away. If you do it without warning then you are not giving them a chance to obey. I know some like to do it the other way but I cannot see the point
  12. I know you are only joking, but I am just saying that you don't need £200 reels to catch Carp. My baitrunners cost £20 for the pair and are fine, Chris Yates caught his British Record on a cane rod and centre pin reel. That said the nice stuff is addictive, but don't they say tackle is designed to catch anglers not fish
  13. I have read a few of Chris Yate's books recently, he generally freelines with a few bits of sweetcorn on the hook, and he used to hold the British Record. The more I read about the top anglers the more it seems to be about locating the fish, (and putting the time in for the really big ones). Saying that I have loads of tackle, the trouble is its easier to buy tackle than put the time in to go fishing. Most of my stuff is not particularly expensive, the fish doesn't know what make your reel is. Good luck
  14. I think the problem is that it would mean two trips to carry it out. They have no trouble bringing it in to start with, but once the cans are empty... When we go fishing we do not leave a thing behind, its kind of pride thing
  15. My offer by PM still stands and I will pay straight away
  16. Glad to hear the good news and that they weren't stolen after all Â
  17. I hate yapping dogs, I have a border myself but she never makes any noise - She isn't allowed to. She will happily sit outside in the garden chilling, whilst others seem to think that everyone around wants to hear how much noise there dogs can make. Good luck with it mate, sounds like exactly the wrong sort of person to have a JRT.
  18. I don't particularly like trapping, but fair play to you. Like others have said, it is not one rule for antis. Well done.
  19. he looks great, I'm sure you do this already, but I used to push back when they bit. Not ridiculous, but enough to be uncomfortable and make it not fun. Good luck
  20. This is ridiculous, it make my stomach churn and I am a strong supporter of Field Sports etc. Why post such minging videos?
  21. A sad story but at least you knew when the right time was. We have a Border which will be 2 in September, at the moment it seems so far away, she is in her prime, full of life (chased a fox out of the garden within the last hour) but one day I know we will have to make the same decision. Great pictures R.I.P. Pendle
