  1. On flat terrain maybe, but on rough running there's only so fast a dog can run and I don't think a greyhound would be faster, if anything it would be injured through not regulating it's speed. But, who can tell eh? It's all opinions.
  2. To be honest, many of us are chasing the same type of dog, as fast as possible and yet durable with it. Those types are scarce. IMO today the 'fast' saluki lurcher isn't 'that' much slower than a greyhound over the course of a course and it's a hell of a lot more durable. it all depends on what you want to do. If you run the rough land, as I do, then I think a 3/4 greyhound is going to last less time than your average cigar. D Loyd, have a serious think about a nice, tall, leggy and fast saluki lurcher....... The way i look at it: the more greyhound the more heartbreak........ 'Specially
  3. Good luck matey...... The thing with vets is; some of them are fresh out of uni and don't know their way around a dog. They're very inexperienced and are still learning the ropes. But you listen because they are the vet! In all honesty I've dealt with a couple of vets that I wouldn't have anywhere near one of my dogs. As luck would have it I have also spent a great deal of time with decent vets and I have always quizzed them relentlessly about things I don't understand. The same with bone men and greyhound vets. There is plenty to learn, and no vet has all the answers..... In life it pays
  4. These look a bit like roe to me buddy....
  5. this is a cockatiel that's escaped from someones cage....
  6. This is a kingfisher feeding it's young...
  7. Not sure what this is; I think it's a female blackie thats got a white chest.....
  8. Maybe 2 cod liver oils tablets a day wouldn't go amiss.
  9. OK, thanks for getting back. I don't think it's a 'skin' issue as there is absolutely no redness, ergo, it is not mange or bedding allergy or food allergy. IMO it looks like the dog version of alopecia....(not sure if I've spelt that right!) If it were my dog I might think that some kind of slight hormone inbalance was responsible. Maybe have a look at : http://www.bulkpowders.co.uk/acetyl-l-carnitine.html?ppc_img=ZPL10&gclid=CJ7TyabUossCFcsp0wodcnIPwg If it were my dog, I'd have him on this (or similar) for four weeks, just to see.
  10. Hi, would i be correct in thinking that he isn't itching or chattering at the hair. Can I ask what food the dog is getting and what bedding he is on. Thanks.
  11. Isathal is the new name for Fucithalmic.... The eye dye will show up any scratches or damage to the surface, so you're lucky.... Easiest way to put eye drops in is to do it while the dogs laid down. Let him close his eye, as he will instinctively do, and then lift the upper lid and just squeeze the lotion into it. You don't need to go mad, literally a couple of drops will do. maybe give him a treat afterwards and tell him he's a good boy and all that stuff. JMHO....
  12. If they prescribe you something like Fuci, it will be cheaper getting it online The thing with eye damage is that you do not, under any circumstances, want anything that's going to rub the surfaces together. If this happens the eye can, and will, go blue and it's a hard slog back to getting it clear. The vet might give the dog a steroid cream to stop this occuring. I've heard plenty of old wives tales regarding eyes, IMO nothing will beat modern medicine when it comes to eye damage. Please keep us up to speed with developments......
  13. If the eye is scratched I wouldn't be putting salt in it. IMO it needs lubricant, such as fucithalmic, not abrasives....JMHO.
  14. I'd say try a dose of Camrosa oil on the affected areas.
  15. I don't think much beats fucithalmic cream....
  16. Hard work is no good for anyone. It breaks machines, kills horses and makes funny shapes out of men!
  17. I have sacrificed everything for the dogs. Never had a holiday even. Single again! Costs me tens of thousands when the missus pissed off, but that's how it is. It's only money. Women come and go; but it's hard to find a good dog! Looking back; I wouldn't change a thing!
  18. Doubtful, in actual fact the opposite is true with Talpex types. The weaker the spring the quicker it fires. The Talpex is so well made that I guess there springs will last a lifetime and still be effective.... I meant the weaker the spring the easier it is for the the trap to fire when a mole is in the tunnel. Which results in the trap being triggered and the mole isn't properly in the trap. The speed of the actual firing trap will be microseconds and immaterial IMO. There's a big difference between talpex and 'talpex types' IMO.
  19. Also have you tried a weeks worth of Periton, just to see if it is a slight allergy?
