  1. a LAW FOR THEM AND A LAW US IT STINKS
  2. Hi carl, regards fit for work, yes i do run mine with the bike.I DO [12]MILES AWEEK. jusy 2-3 times aweek, dont forget this is with [lamping] him as well, its just to keep is wind up.? with jumping fences a 23in dog should [still get over a [5 bar gate] jumping+good bags Bryn is 25in dog.?
  3. Not really, i agree with Whin that 23- 26in and shape he said makes a good lurcher, and you will find that most lads would say the same. Not everybody wants a 20-22in dog
  4. Spot on , a nice size+build for anything
  5. Spot on, ive lost ground through talking about my sport. When ive been just walking my dog, people have asked what type of dog is it, you say lurcher. They say are those dogs that kill rabbits and ..................?.You say no the dog does pest control, to control the rabbits not kill them all. I had [90]acres once, where a keeper let me lamp it.But these [pricks] who lived on the ground, didnt like to see lamps about, and told the keeper that if they see any more they would tell the [land owner] to have it stopped. That was the end of me [ALL because] me talking to a friend of them pricks
  6. yep, my dog now Bryn is 25in 60lb, and he is very agile, and dont really miss much and my other good catch dogs were 25-26in.
  7. This one, the dog caught it and retrieved from [300]yds away I couldnt tell if he got it at first, a great catch Bryn
  8. Ive had lurchers 25 years, and bull breeds. And mine have always been quite, ok as pups they have sang a bit.But i would tell my neighbours when i was having pups, and just say the pups would prob make some noise for 2-3 weeks, and most were ok about it. But having noisy dogs can get your feckin blood up. Years ago i used to work nights, and this twat had JT who lived by me. When they went out to work, it would start barking for [8] feckin hours. Its not the dogs fault, but the pricks who own them. So remember there is 2 sides to a coin.??????????????????
  9. Yes live it alone for the moment, get a [ball] and have good old kick about with it. You got [not] put any pressure on the dog, and just forget retrieveing, and [not] all dogs will retrieve fact. But just chill out with it, and should be ok [when] its ready.
  10. Any dog can yap ,but a whippet can more so than most dogs. If it was me, i would [try] and get it easy rabbits, and see if it calms a bit .If not get rid and give it as [pet].And nextime go more for a laid back type dog, [and] start it on easy rabbit, thats where mostgo [wrong] with a young dog [not doing it] .
  11. Hi , nice to see some young women in our sport do you work the springer to the gun, or does just mooch with the lurcher.?
  12. Great, should be the 1st of many My dog caught is very 1st rabbit, with very 1st run in the lamp when he was 12months old. He is 2 now, and get;s better all the while
  13. Well i could be wrong, but to get a small grey or a large whippet, surely they would have [crossed] the 2 together [generation's] back. Alot of [none ped] whippets have got greyhound in there blood ,? And even a grey bitch would a lot bigger [24-25in 50-60lb] than any [big] dog whippet [22-23in 30-40lb].? A x of the 2 breeds, would be a better choice tougher dog as most hybreds are , thats why we have lurchers
  14. Yep , worker to worker and [might] not be to hard to train. 1/4 collie is more than enough for most game, that you might tackle.
  15. Hi martin, not quite sure, from [sep] he as minimum of [20] rabbits a night, best night [28]. And weather permitting ive been out as you know 4-6 times in a month, and got big bags.Even local getting a dozen or so,its got to be well over [250] with the local runs as well . Ray
  16. Spot on, its the same by me, so ive had to travel for them

  20. had a nice mooch with Bryn sat morning, he marked and caught 2 rabbits. Both were in thick bramble , ist one he nailed it 15 yds from cover Thumbsup: The 2nd he went in bramble, the rabbit shot out and went other side of edge. I had to shout him out, the rabbit was by now 50yds up the edge slap: he seen it and went like rocket after it, he caugh up and dived at it, and nailed it Thumbsup: i really didnt thick he would catch it. feckin BRILL. Feckin GREAT, they should make it [COMPULSORY]
  22. Well ive had a good think about, and i would go for pre-drive. Ive had a few lurchers in the last 25years.[bullxs,colliexs,bitza's] and ive been lucky that most of them would give 120% on any quarry. The dog i have now Bryn will bust a gut to catch a rabbit, and that's how i want it. If they get a few bangs giving 120%,well its name of the game, and after all they are working dogs. And any dog running at 30-40 mph day+night, will get a few bangs. No a [trier not a thinker ]
  23. We used have [dalmatian] when we were kids, and it bit my brother in the hand . The dog used to sleep under the table in the kitchen,he went to call the dog out that morning. But the fecker didnt want go out,he went grab it and bang :c it got him. . He said the pain was like if you had your hand [hit]with a hammer . And thats just norm size dog with norm size jaw, just think what breeds with powerful jaws could do.
  24. good crack that, you should take pics and send them to your [local paper],and make a couple of bob from them. They would love that kind of stuff in the [sUN ]
