  1. There's not a lot of point me talking about the BBS with you. Reason was a difference of opinion, and BTW I think you will find I am still a member there, not that it matters. You are antagonistic and opinionated, I am utterly sick of you chiming in on every thread. Kindly bugger off and leave us all in piece, unless you have something constructive to say.
  2. Hmmm, then it looks like it's a straight fight between the Remington and the Howa. Howa's new, Remy's not - not sure on barrel life in 204. Hadn't thought about it, as assumed it'd be a new rifle. Stock's much better on Remington, Howa's action will be smoother. Hmmm... this might come down to a coin toss!
  3. I AM NOT BREAKING ANY LAW OR SITE RULES!! Once again you demonstrate your ignorance....you have mentioned IF a lot...well IF I smacked you in the face, then perhaps I would be breaking the law...forget IF and stick to the FACTS!!! I am selling a NON proof Moderator, NOT designed for a centrefire in a PRIVATE Sale! If the purchaser wants to put it on a .308, mix cement with it or beat their neighbour over the head with it, he is welcome, it is no concern of mine and I do not want to know his intentions.........I have no legal or moral requirement to advise the purchaser of the conte
  4. Sak don't work on a Hornet, they will go pop (or worse!)
  5. I'm looking at buying a Remington 700 LVSF in 204 Ruger. It has a blind box magazine, which I've not had before. I prefer a detachable magazine under normal circumstances, but this time round I wasn't too worried - the alternative is a Howa for about the same price (Remy is used) which has a hinged floorplate - used to them and it would be OK. Thing is, I prefer the Remington apart from the mag, so how are these to live with? A pain at night when you get back from lamping? Worth the hassle as the rifle is so good? Horrible, avoid? Really not sure, have had no experience at all with the
  6. Indeed! 204 Ruger and 22 Hornet, as well as 308 to do. Might end up back with 243 at some stage, as I have a lot of time for that calibre. Hours of fun
  7. Hmmm, more likely the new one I can have for another £50
  8. I have the Leupold 4.5-15x50 with Boone and Crockett. Had it on the HMR for about 2 weeks, worked well. I whacked it on the 308, although it will be going on the Hornet when I get that. Good scope. You can get the first line to be about a mil, can't remember the mag though. Much over that and you're pushing the calibre too far for normal use anyway. But, as has been said, reticle choice is a personal thing. It's going to be down to try it and see, I'm afraid. B&C works for me, it has enough aiming marks to help me, but is simple enough for night work. I wouldn't get their Varmint r
  9. I am also enjoying this, slightly further on than you SS, as I am impatient. Since getting the kit I have fired > 200 rounds, most of which is load testing/zeroing. I have now got both my 223s to around half an inch, the Remington under and the CZ slightly over. In the Remington I tried: 69gr Lapua with 21.2gr,23.5gr,24gr,24.5gr of AA2230 powder (23.5 is the manufacturer max load, many people online and other reloading manuals said 24.5gr is OK, and I tried it without pressure signs). 23.5 shoots the best by far, two groups of all touching (except the odd one I pull ) So I am sticki
  10. SOunds like that should have worked OK - what size exit wound? If the animal has the adrenaline going, you need a massive shock to drop it on the spot. When it doubt, find a poor unsuspecting bunny rabbit and shoot - if it explodes then the bullet is working OK. Not the most scientific test, but rabbits and 22/250 is normally predictable - it's messy...
  11. DId he take the moderator off? Could be a dodgy screwcut - it has been known. CZ semi auto isn't floating in the slightest, mine still shot well though (except the trigger, which is truly terrible)
  12. I do shoot foxes with my rimfire, as it was clarified in my favour in my case. Herein lies the reason why I believe, not I, me, personal opinion, that no court would find in favour of the prosecuting license department on this one. Thus, while they might take your ticket off you, a trip to court gets it reinstated PDQ. But, as has been said, can you be arsed? Easier to get a condition to shoot them. or get a .22 Hornet, which everyone is happy with for fox, and if you reload costs the same as HMR. And works much better on everything too, without any more noise. BUT you do need to reloa
  13. Most times it goes out it gets a boresnake through it, but a thorough clean is quite rare because I find .17 so small that it's a pain, so I only do it when necessary!
  14. Oh, don't be so arsey!! I have a Hawke 6x42 Mildot onn my CZ, and I'm perfectly happy with it!! And before you accuse me of loving substandard stuff, I used to work at a top London gunmakers in Mayfair, for 4 years, and have used lots of premium stuff, Zeiss, Leica etc etc, but I just don't see the need on a £300 rimfire. If I had a couple of grand floating about it would be different of course, but needs must. Effortless I'm not being arsey. I've several Hawke scopes, their £90 jobs are OK. But the Sport HD stuff, your £50 specials, are so dreadful someone should b
  15. Reloading gear, budget about £200 to get you started and you're away. Easiest thing is to find someone that reloads and get them to teach you, it's a quick process because it's a doddle, but I found that all the various terms were so much easier when someone points at stuff and explains it! Thereafter it does get much cheaper, and more accurate too. My Remington is turning in sub 0.5MOA regularly now. My CZ has gone from 1MOA to 3/4MOA as well. As for calibre, I'd be tempted to say 243 over 22/250 - it has more thump than 22/250 for deer, and pushes a 55gr bullet as fast or faster
  16. It is quite conceivable that both scopes are doing the same thing - neither is what I would call any good, and loss of zero is one of the more common problems with cheap scopes. Do you have/know anyone that has, anything decent?
  17. Bloody hell, that's very short in 243... But I bet it is really good out of a vehicle.
  18. You're not kidding! And anyway, a 20 cal should do that job nicely
  19. Scope is likely a Leupold or US Optics, didn't get to see it closely enough to tell which one. Nice shooting though... 1000 yards is generally considered to be a bloody long way - 2.5 x that, and still on target - eek! Would like to have a play!
  20. I am about to stop shooting 243, so he might have to reload that one all on his own Sure I can do 308 though, the amount that (doesn't) get shot...
  21. .222 and .223...so who knows...but get your acts together lads..I'm waiting for a good round!!! Cheers!!! If we go inbetween that would be a .224 bullet weighing 45 grains then I will make him up some Hornet ammo
  22. In that situation you apply to the police for a temporary permit for the rifle, this allows you to dispose of it to an RFD or FAC holder. You will need to get this permit before giving the firearm to the FAC holder, otherwise they cannot acquire it - the 'selling' party has to complete the FAC, and part of that is Authority To possess - without the permit, there is none.
  23. 22LR is quite a loopy trajectory which holds its power relatively well. I would want something that has aiming marks of some sort, and I would get something with half decent optics, not the ultra cheap Hawke stuff, proves handy.
  24. Every single rifle is different, so you will need to try some different ammo in it and see how it performs. Deker has the 1:8 twist and a full barrel, seems to like most ammo well enough. The T3 is known for its accuracy so when you get the ammo it likes, it will shoot foxes very well indeed, once you're happy it will go well over 200 yards, too.
  25. My CZ doesn't like the 40 grain loads I made, and the 50s are grouping well, so I be sticking with them
