  1. As alimac says, The moderators are a seperate firearm on your certificates. They need to be shown on there so that situations like this can be avoided. The fact that your rifle is threaded is neither here nor there if there is no mod on it, then it is a normal rifle. What rifles are they? Rimfire/Centrefire, and where did you get the mods from as you shouldnt be able to buy them for a FAC rifle unless they are on your FAC. This could land you in trouble. SS Edited: Didnt think about the fact you are in Ireland! In that case the las may be wholly different, the above is i
  2. Thats good news mate, the more who have them the better and shooting has just become a whole lot easier for you. Good Luck SS
  3. Happy Birthday Lass, Hope you have a good day even though we all now know your age!! Im sure that you will be intoxicated with plenty of booze when you read this Thread. Have a good one. SS :drink:
  4. Yes, a .243 is a necked down .308 case, the .308 fires a larger .30 calibre bullet than the .243 which fires a .243/6mm bullet. The obvious difference is in power, the .308 packs a bigger punch. SS
  5. .22-250 can shoot anything up to Roe in Scotland and CWD and Muntjac in England and Wales. Glad you got the Quad, Just need some practice with it now then! Regards SS
  6. Too true John, I was wearing my earmuffs but I still got a slight ringing sounds, perhaps a pair of plugs aswell next time. SS
  7. Well not exactly. The FEO's report is vital in whether you get the nod or not. He will make this report out after he has visited you and submit it to the licensing department who will then get the Chief Officer of Police to decide whether you are suitable to hold a FAC/SGC. He will then advise you that when you have your cabinet installed and checked, you can have your FAC/SGC, if the Chief Officer thinks fit. SS P.S You just need to show your FEO you are reformed and go from there. Good Luck.
  8. Very nice read there Cam, I agree the early morning is my favourite time of day. Everything seems to be waking up with you! The best sport is to be had early morning when somethings are a little off their guard. Regards SS
  9. Good job mate, It takes a fair while off the process if you install things ready. Good luck with everything and hopefully it wont be took long before you have your SGC and can get your dad out to have a go too. Good Shooting SS
  10. Well, one thing that may boost your view on the Tikka's and Sako's is that they are both part of the Beretta Group of companies and so the standards are high. Both of these will shoot what you want them to. Remington have wide respect across the fieldsport world and can be added to as SNAP SHOT says in a variety of ways. Either of these rifles, or indeed, anything else which you choose these days will shoot well straight off the shelf. The question now is calibre. For anything up to fox then the .223 or .22-250 would be ideal but if Deer is in the equation then a .243 is your onl
  11. As above really, Just show him that you are keen on shooting and want to spend more time doing it, as well as this, show him how you have changed, i.e. positions of responsibility at work or home such as kids, married, stable relationship and positions of trust in work. This will show him that you have no interest in doing bad things again. As for the cabinet, he will need to come back and see your installation, as I wouldn't think you could have your cabinet installed by tomorrow. Did you put in for both SGC and FAC? Regards SS
  12. Thanks for that, I will put in a request when I put my variation in for a .22LR. Regards SS
  13. Thanks for all your replies everyone. It was a good spot of shooting, I dont shoot many with the shotgun these days but this situation meant it was the most effective and safe method. Ditch, If you want to know what a 12 bore fired in a car sounds like, think of the Royal Artillery practicing in an empty warehouse and you should have some idea. Good job I had my ear defenders on! Thanks Again SS P.S There will be a few more posts to follow.
  14. Its warm but close and muggy here, trying to work on the shoot is damn near impossible. Need a good thunderstorm to clear the air. Now im off to check the Zero on the HMR. SS
  15. I have my .222 down on my FAC for "shooting fox and other medium sized quarry". What exactly is medium sized quarry? Regards SS
  16. Just wandering how many from this site will be going to the WGF. Its on Sat 14th and Sun 15th of June at the Gelli Aur Showground. Cheers SS
  17. I have an old copy of the Shooting Times which has a few double 4 bores and mentions two new 2 bores which were in production at the time by Alan Myers. Its fascinating that these guns were commissioned in the first place, I would love to fire a 2 bore, my 8 bore fades into insignificance in the face of those monsters. SS
  18. He is a member on here, TITCHY his name is. PM him and see if he can sort you out. SS
  19. 200 Shells at £50 a throw? Sell the car and the missus, but it would the best spent £10,000 ever. SS
  20. Would I be right in saying that to have a rifle over .223 in Ireland you need to have deer land? The Tikka T3 is a fine weapon. Have you looked at the other reputable makes, Remington, Sako etc? Regards SS
  21. Who knows what went on there to make such a seemingly successful company go under. Im Glad you have somewhere to get supplies, there is a new Cartridge supplier opening up in Merthyr if that helps. Regards SS
  22. One of the small farms that makes up my shoot was having trouble with Charlie. To start off with, this farm is one which I rarely shoot over out of the Game season as he has family and close friends who shoot there and I leave them to it. This problem occured when nobody had been there to shoot for nearly a month. The problem came to a head a few days ago. He keeps bits and pieces of poultry in the yard, most of it has either been donated or he has acquired(from somewhere!) He had just had, about two days before, some ex-battery hens which he let out with the rest of the birds as he wo
  23. Im on the verge of going. Need to be persuaded!! SS
  24. It is gargantuan if you think of the amounts of things other than guns there. However, the mark up is now complete so Im told and people should be returned their guns fairly soon. Yes, Keens is about 20 Mins away and I know a few other sources for cartridges and ammo that are near. So im fairly well cared for here. SS P.S Have you got somewhere near you now that Litts have gone?
  25. OK Deker Will have to take his CAPS LOCK off for him. SS P.S Only a Joke Titchy, just Capitals is seen as shouting on here, not to worry  Might see you next Wed.
