  1. I also know quite a few. The debt as it sits is vast I agree, but the majority is tied up in stock. Once the new stock is returned to the owners the debt is substantially reduced. As you know, this includes, guns, cartridges, chokes, clothes, etc, etc, etc. As I said in the above posts, they are not in debt for many millions, and £15m is not true either. I cant say anymore than this. SS why ? whats the big secret . how do you know this privilidged info? whats the problem in being straight with people instead of this cloak and dagger bollocks Because its libel. And if
  2. I know they are part of the Marlin group of companies. Marlin make fine firearms but other than this I know nothing either. SS

  6. Where in Wales are you based mate, we may not be too far away which could come in handy for ammo. SS
  7. Im sorry to hear of your bad back, I cant really compare to your ongoing pain but I had sciatica for a while last year and the pain was debilitating then. I hope you sort out the boot situation and get your toe sorted. Get Well Soon SS
  8. It looks like the ancient alarm gun I have, except mine has seen a lot more use. SS
  9. Very roughly, the figure is something like 10,000. This is what seems to be accepted by my FEO when he came to do my last home visit where I had about 9000 cartridges in my gun room. SS P.S That is on a normal shotgun certificate it may well be considerably more for an RFD certificate.
  10. West Glam I think you are missing my point T3, if you read my last post it says many millions. I am P****d off, not only by the fact that we will have to travel further for a decent range of guns but I have a gun with them for servicing. I have my receipt slip, I have spoken to the administrators and they have told me it will be returned to me when the marking up is complete. SS

  12. There is no Black Powder in the vast, vast majority of modern cartridges, they are all filled with smokeless or nitro powders. The Firearms Department issue Explosives licenses for the acquisition and storage of explosives. In normal circumstances you are allowed to keep 5KG of Smokeless powder loose and in shells. Black powder needs a license to buy but not if the powder is already loaded in the shell. As for an RFD, Im unaware of the legislation surrounding it and if I were you contact one of the shooting organisations e.g. BASC. Best of luck mate, your firearms departme
  13. Happy Birthday Foxgun, Have a great day and enjoy yourself SS
  14. I bet you it will be over 15M Nowhere near mate SS
  15. Yes mate, get your forms filled in and your photos, send them in and you should hopefully have your SGC before too long. The CLA is full of bargains, if you miss it, you could always try the Midland in September. SS
  16. Neither of you are correct I'm afraid. Nobody from the Litts staff is in Jail or even anywhere close. Neither are they in debt for many millions, it is a substantial figure but nowhere near the amounts people are making up. Everyone who has a gun with Litts for repair will have it returned as it is not Litts' property. They will all have a receipt for their guns which were deposited and they will have them back. Regards SS
  17. Harrington and Richardson is the full name, If you google H and R Guns, their website will be the first link. SS
  18. One of the basics of foxing is to try to keep as inconspicuous as possible so the fox doesnt know what you are. Sometimes it works from a vehicle others it works when walking the ground. Im afraid trial and error has a lot to do with fox shooting. If you know what he is hunting, hens, pheasants etc then you can lie up where his quarry is and just wait for him.. Baiting works in some cases, you will need to know when he is there though, this can be time consuming. SS
  19. Nice shooting mate, good to see some old fashioned fun with the .410 SS
  20. The Occupier should be taken as someone who has the hunting, shooting or fishing rights over a piece of ground. Therefore, wherever you shoot as long as you have permission to be there, i.e. you and Andy, then you have the shooting rights. So, if you use Andy's rifle on ground which you both have permission to be on, and you are under his supervision then you are within the law and a problem does not arise. Regards SS
  21. It has, so far, been the only issue where I could not get any decent advice one way or the other. I have it mainly for the insurance and the occasional question. On other issues they have told me to ring them if the FEO or Licensing Dept are giving me hassle. The other reason I have it, is that I shoot on the marshes and my club insists on it as its affiliated to them, the fee is included in my club membership. SS
  22. Radders, It is perfectly acceptable for you to keep your guns un your parents house, the main thing to remember in this situation is that you will need to keep access to them out of your parents hands, this would entail taking your cabinet keys with you when you go away. As long as the guns are secure the police should have no issue. As for securing the cabinet, you will need a drill and bit which matches the size of the bolt and a spanner, perhaps a hammer to give the bolt a tap. The securing bolts expand when tightened and so spread out inside the wall to hold the cabinet in place.
  23. Lamper12, If you want to obtain an SGC then you will need to fill in the required forms which you can get from your Police Force's Firearms Dept or on the net, try here http://www.basc.org.uk/content/certificate_application_f Once you have filled these in, got your countersignatory to sign them and your photos you can send them off with £50. Then you will need to install security, a cabinet is the most common and widely accepted, one that is British Standard is foolproof. The Firearms Dept will then send someone to visit you at home to check your security and have a chat about your reas
  24. Hi Basil Well you did the right thing in having your friend take you out and about to hopefully teach you safety and fieldcraft but he should have known he could not let you as a non FAC holder use the .243 or for that matter the .22. In some areas in the UK your friend could have been in deep do do. Pity you had not asked this forum before spilling all to your FAO - anyway damage limitation! Good luck with your FAC. Peter Peter, you are wrong. You are perfectly permitted to let non-FAC holders use your rifles under supervision as SportingShooter says. I checked this wit
