  1. Thanks all, It was an exceptional weekend, you dont get many of them. Any more kit JohnG and you'll be dangerous! Regards SS
  2. If thats a Baikal as others have posted then it was dumped as a dangerous piece of crap. I've only seen two in the field and both had a problem with accidental discharge on closing the action onto live cartridges. I know a dozen owners will say how good they are, but from my perspective they are lethal and I wouldn't be suprised if its previous owner just smashed it over a fence post and threw it into a ditch - in the old post card style SGC days. More than a dozen i'll think you'll find. As ive said before, mine is pushing 25 years old and has never put a foot wrong. He would ha
  3. I have been meaning to go and use the HMR for a bit now and in the last few days I finally had the chance with the fine weather and still days. Friday was a beautiful day down here and it was very still, so the perfect day for the HMR. After I finished work, I went off as usual to my part of the shoot and instead of taking the 12 bore I took the Rimmy. I turned into the farm and began to drive down the lane, which is around half a mile long and is lined on both sides with various trees all the way along. The first thing I saw was a Carrion sitting in a tree as I drove down, and what did
  4. Yeah, Ditch, Mine has beechwood furniture and 28 3/4" barrels, but I suspect the ones you saw were considerably shorter as wood the barrels on this one. You'll have to put that one in the book Ditch. SS
  5. I was thinking that Jack but then, if it is 20 odd years old then it would not need to be registered on an SGC so it could have been dumped. Cant imagine how it would get lost. SS
  6. No doubt about it, its a baikal, even whats left of the engraving is the same as mine. Ill post a picture soon. SS
  7. Yes i agree with you SS.. it is very unfortunate that litts have ceased trading, whatever individuals thought of the service received the fact remains that another good shooting supply outlet has gone and we are not overly blessed with them in this area, i,m sure many people will experience difficulty in buying a wide range of shooting product due to their demise--- From a local point of view , lets hope it may re-open soon if someone else can take over... It is Keith, you just watch the price of guns rocket now, you wont be able to deal like you used to do with Litts, in the South We
  8. This has just been posted on their website. http://litts.co.uk/ SS
  9. An open on first grant, lucky so and so. Well you have two virgin certificates which are just waiting to be filled up. What calibres have you got on the FAC. Regards SS
  10. I can tell you the make, Its a Baikal. I have an IJ58 which has an identical action to that, the auto safety bar is the same, the safety is the same as is the profile of the action. Mine was made in the USSR which makes it at least 20 years old and is more than likely about 25. Bit of information for you anyway. Regards SS
  11. We had a long downpour on friday night, an inch of rain in an hour, with superb fork lightning and proper loud thunder. It was by complete suprise but a treat to watch. Regards SS
  12. Of the Rabbits I shoot, I have no problems with the size or age of them. I aim and fire, all there is to it. Regards SS
  13. From what I have been told by someone "in the know" shall we say, the RBSS branch of Litts has gone too. I cant guarantee the reliability or credibility of this information. Their shooting ground, Treetops, is still going, but RBSS is independent of Litts. It is still being hosted on the RBSS website, but then again, the original Litts website is still going. I would contact them tomorrow first thing, Deker and Tikka, and find out what the situation is, you will need to have some proof of the deposits/products. The administrators are Deloitte and Touche of Cardiff, maybe worth giving them
  14. Once shot at a bolting rabbit with my 12 bore and it folded over dead as I would have liked, when I examined it, there was not a single mark on it, I skinned the entire thing and not a mark, the only thing I can think of is that it was a fairly old bunny which I clean missed and then had a heart attack. Who knows. SS
  15. Yes, unfortunate in my eyes, some hated the place, I never had any trouble. The administrators are Deloitte and Touche in Cardiff. I have been told there are notices on the gates there that says the business is closed for stock taking this week and will be trading next week, on the other hand from another source I was told there are notices that the company will not be trading. So until the details are published we wont know. One thing which I can clarify is that Andrew Litt is neither in prison or police custody. The police presence was due to the situation involving firearms. Regards
  16. I dont own one, but have shot one on many occasions when shooting squirrels. They seem solid guns, a little awkard to operate with them being folding. The particular gun I shot developed a problem of firing everytime the gun was closed. This was only an individual case though. They kill well when presented with a target at a decent range <40 yards. The stock dimensions may be a little strange or short but just try one for fit and if possible fire one before you buy. Regards SS
  17. What an artist, not many that even come close.
  18. I bet you couldnt do that again if you tried. Top shooting with the bunnies though and expert marksmanship on the slow worm. Regards SS
  19. I had a recent similar experience over a few early mornings. I was after a particularly crafty old fox and I tried to catch him out early morning. I was out and about by 4:30 and even though I saw no sight of the fox, every morning was a pleasure. Over the three mornings I heard the dawn chorus, which on this piece of ground is absolutely spectacular, the amount of species on the ground made it very special and extremely vocal. I loved every minute of it. I had no dogs or any other interruptions, me, my gun on my lap and the approaching dawn. Regards SS
  20. The amount of hearsay and rubbish being spread about this situation is incredible and the majority is libelous. No-one knows what is going to happen or has happened, the company has been placed with the Deloitte receivers in Cardiff and there are notices around the premises saying the company is closed this week for stock taking and will be open next week. This leads me to believe that the company has been placed in Administrative Receivership. Andrew Litt is not in prison or in police custody. The police presence on the premises is blatantly obvious, they are dealing with the biggest
  21. Just dont try taking it to Litt's, Deker. They may have a very long wait :clapper: SS
  22. it has been in the offing for a while, the financial structure of the place has been in question for a very long time. I cant say I have ever been badly treated by Litts and have always been able to deal with them successfully and often with a significant amount taken off. Ive just ordered a set of barrels for my DT10 through them too, ah well, i'll get them straight from the factory. SS
  23. So does the attitude of shooting at 100 yard targets with AAA which has 45 pellets in the pattern. I will not argue as I cannot prove either way. Regards SS
  24. Normal as in those people attacking Top Gear presenters because they didnt like the slogans on the side of their car? Really normal,
  25. Unfortunately one of the best has just passed away, Fred J Taylor, as im sure you know, dies on the 7th of May at the age of 89 having ferreted, fished and shot all of his life and apparently up until the last few days of his life. Some fieldsports career eh? SS
