  1. no to independence i'd guess....
  2. We've got + year olds in our shoot.... they put a lot of 50 year old's to shame.. physically and mentally.. To be honest, I've got a lot of time for them. One boy strides uphills like he's a teenager. Every year he brings a bottle of whisky in to celebrate his birthday, and says it will be his last year....... He keeps coming though....
  3. I own a plucker, and I still soak in hot water and pluck by hand... far quicker..
  4. you dug oot your best fishing dress yet?
  5. I tend to agree, but that does not change the legal position. Authority is all you need, verbal is fine, tell your region to go ask the guy if they doubt you! You simply have to show them good reason, like I said, your region, and no doubt others, are flexing muscles they don't have, and few if any have the balls to question them! Show me one piece of Firearms legislation that says you must provide written consent to get/renew a FAC! Indeed, ask your region to supply you with the legislation that says you must supply them with WRITTEN permission! They will no doubt get upse
  6. In order to get the best out of a Hornet you need to handload in my opinion. I dont have on at the moment, as it was prized out of my cold, dead fingers by a mate, who had a need for it on his estate. Everyone who uses one that i know reloads 35gr vmax loads, with 12-13gr lil gun powder. All of the hornets i have seen, owned, witnessed, have shot under 1/2MOA at 100yds. Funnily enough most of them were CZ 527's. I have never had good experience with factory ammo. gave up and reloaded. In experienced, confident hands, a 200 yard fox is completely ethical.. The 35gr vmax pil hits home
  7. well... it will be the same action...... Its not the best looking gun... but its a work horse... and built to last.
  8. Sorry, i should have mentioned, he does use homeloads... not factory ammo...
  9. My mate got a zastava in .308, he's had no problems with it, and shoots bang on... Bought it as a stop gap and kept it...
  10. I'm looking forward to fishing it again already Mik.. It just kinda has that vibe.... Be good to catch a decent fish too.... atb Matty
  11. it didn't disappoint.. had a work party at the shoot today, so they finished it off.....
  12. Never saw anything moving, part from the the Finnock,... The water was boiling with them... They fought with every ounce of their weight... I stuck them all back obviously. Got another session in August with him hopefully... Beautiful place.. Matt
  13. A friend had taken a week on the North Esk, so managed a day yesterday with him. A very bright day... water was very clear and quite low. Tried it with various patterns of micro tubes and Frances style flies. These accounted for a couple of small trout. I did give it a good few hours and fished it properly with the double hander, but soon the temptation was to switch to the single hander and fish light for the smaller stuff.. Every fish on the single hander was caught on a size 8 medicine fly on point, nothing on what ever dropper i tried. As soon as the sun dropped from the sky,

  17. Fished a Mini Zulu Muddler on the bob, With a Silver Invicta and a kate Maclaren lower down, we boated 40 fish, but were a small stamp....The conditions were as near to perfect as I have ever fished. Also fished a Bibio on the bob, and Peter Ross on point at one point.. Muddler accounted for most of of the fish. Some of the other Lochs pictured were exceptionally difficult waters, methods and locations only diverged by PM.......
