  6. Intresting question Blue... I would lke to know the answer myself. I have ideas of having a multi purpose dog my self in the future. One that can retrieve and track. I am a one dog man. My wife has another dog, which is cute. But I only want one dog, and need two roles. I stalk and rough shoot, and would love to give wildfowling a go. So a swimming, retireving and tracking dog would be the ideal... Nothing like setting yourself up for a failure on my part i fear. But be intresting to hear other peoples thoughts. I am also stuck in the rut of owning collies. I need to prize my

  8. My collie wont let anyone in to the house unless me or the missus is here. Awsome amount of deep, rasping, big dog noise. All from a 11 year old boy.. Has a nasty look about him too. My misses used to be a debt collector, she took the collie to keep the money in the car safe. Never let anyone with in 10 feet of the car.. He will be sorely missed when he goes. Matt
  9. I did a 4 year degree in Rural Environmental Management in 1990 at Silsoe College in Bedfordshire. I never managed even to get an interview in any related job, so went in to farming, then got made redundant, so went in to industry and engineering. Been there ever since. Hate working behind a desk 4/5 days a week, its like being in a cage. The problem then was whatever qualification you had, you still needed 2-3 years experience, but without experience you couldn't get the job. Viscious circle i'm afraid. Even did voluntary work. Still it pays the bills now, and buys nice toys, so cant com
  10. if you have not tried addng the meat , give it a go ...........you might well be surprised at the results :alcoholic: I take it once it stops bubbling, bottle it? And how long to leave it before .......you know......SAMPLING.... Also, could i do the same in a demijon?? Matt

  12. I've got an orchard with some apples that aren't best edible, i've got a fruit press and some demijons. And a freinds orchard if needed. And i realy luv me cider. So, how it the simplest way of making gods nectare with good results. And what else do i need? I prefer fizzy cider if that can be made?? Champagne yeast maybe? Intrestingly, i used to have a mate from Cornwal that always put meat in to his cider. Must be to add bacteria or something. But i dont want to do that. Thanks in anticipation.
  13. Ok, given a budget of £150 quid. What would you recomend for use on the lamp at night on a .22lr. I currently have a Nikko gold 3-9x40. Which is ok during the daylight, but showing its calibre at night.. 12mag preffered. 40-50mm objective, i dont want to go to high mounts, unless i have too. Iluminated reticule preferred Second hand options considered. Hawke, nikko, bushnell? What do you use and what are its pros and cons Matt
  14. This question is academic now. It was on Ebay at a good price, but has just gone out of my budget. So i'm going to start a new thread. And open up the options.. Thanks anyway Matt
  15. Didnt you have a nikko nighteater logic? What was that like, i really like my diamond 4-12, but have never judged the optics on a nighteater? Matt
  16. Good point Mole trapper. Very heavy i take it? Heavier than a nikko diamond 4-12 X x 56 30 mm tube that i have on my .243 do you suppose? Cause that is a monster in the weight stakes. I hadn't considered that problem. At night i normally shoot off the sticks, but i still use it in the daytime, and like to travel light. Bit of a hopeful question I know??? Matt
  17. i have one on my cz 22lr and i think its a cracking scope. good under the lamp and the scb recticial is great for the different hold overs at range. i have shot loads of rabbits with my 22lr and this scope. and it is a cracking combo you wont be sorry mate if you get one Thanks Jamie, thats what i wanted to hear. 22. I haven't found the ideal compromise for my Defender. I do motorway work , and Greenlaning. SO diverse ends of the spectrum. I have Insa Daka on steel modulars for off road, and Cooper Standard fitment on Alloys for road use. Best of both worlds. Takes 20 mins to change them, when required.
