  1. Where im working at the moment ive noticed lots of crop fields barley and wheat, and quite often lots of pigeons around these fields. The problem is ive never done and pigeon shooting and would like to try it but i dont know enough about it to give it a go. Is there any informative books or dvds about it that anyone can recommend ? Or as a long shot anyone who could possibly show me the ropes, the farm ive currently got permission on in North / West Wales has a couple of cereal fields on it, so this could be used if required although i dont know about quantities of birds ect.

  4. Up at 3.30am yesterday for a 90 mile trip to some permission i hold in North / West Wales. It was quite a cool grey start to the day and we loaded the van up with the two lurchers, two terriers and the shottie. We have done quite a bit of lamping there over the years, but never really had a good mooch about in the day. So our main object was to do a search of the area to locate any earths which may be holding, as we knew from lamping that there are allot of foxes about there. The only problem was that the three farms boarder onto a large natural wood of about 25 acres, but we dont have p
  5. Dispatched one on the way home today, sat on the side of the road, pulled up next to it in the transit and it didnt even budge, it was on its last, couldnt just leave it such a horrible disease and sight for anyone passing. Cheers bob

  7. Only 4 rabbits on the field today as we passed, some carrion crows pulling at something in the middle of the field, I fear the worst as the numbers are dropping by the day. cheers bob
  8. Been working in a new area of South Wales over the last four weeks and have been passing fields full of rabbits in the day, found out last week who owned the land and was going to ask permission this week. Fields full of young and old rabbits, with pheasants walking around as well, bloody brilliant. We check the fields every morning on our way to work, and the numbers seemed to dwindle slightly last week. I put it down to the weather or being disturbed, but this morning turned the corner and sat on the side of the road, by the field eating, was a fully grown rabbit full of mixy. We the

Talk about jumping down peoples throats, obviously little lloyd , is refering to wild birds being taken in and has read the post wrong as the word buying gives it away. Then you have a go at Ferret Uk as he dosnt even mention hunting or killing with the bird, obviously he dosnt want a f***ing magpie and is just asking advice on keeping the bird on the falconry forum, why slate people instead of giving the advice the bloke is asking for. MODERATING.

Frank, Although i dont post much i do like to read alot of the posts, and some of them are a complete waste of time. I must admit that most of your replys / posts are very good, just my opinion but some other posts are a waste of time and nearly always end up with arguements and bad feeling. So my vote goes for the good of moderating but i dont think posts should be pulled without explanation from the mod, its just indecent cheers bob

  19. Ok mate, from my experience, if they from good working stock, they make excellent ferreting dogs, as for concentration levels, the one i worked many years ago would have died on the spot concentrating, it was an excellent marker also. As for lamping it was a 1 on short cut fields especially golf courses, but did struggle a bit on cropped fields. Let him rag the odd fox, which had neared its end, but as for slipping him on a fox single handed In my opinion they are to fine a dog to contemplate taking a hiding of a fox and you also need to be carefull where you lamp as they cant ta
