  6. Nice looking dog mate Out today on a small local shoot for the first time since ive had my dog, well impressed, put up about 20 birds and some very tight birds, worked well all day, some very nice flushes, stopped on most but did carry on hunting after flushing a few. Not to worried as ive not had him 2 weeks yet, and its something i can work on over the next few weeks. All the best with the pup mate cheers bob
  7. Just to add my two peneth worth, i read millets reply and at first thought he had fair points, then i agreed that who are we to judge, at the end of the day it is their way of hunting / control and it works for them. To be honest i wouldnt personaly like to use that drag because i would like to know that the trapped animal was where the trap was set. It is stated that the experienced tracker would track the animal on the drag, but what if it was trapped earley, left overnight, after a heavey snowfall since being trapped, maybee headed into the trees for cover, got snagged up, possibl
  8. --> QUOTE(Dawn B @ Nov 16 2006, 06:23 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The only problems friends of mine have had with them, is going round corners and the back takes off! Very light on the back, needs weight in them. Dawn. slow down then :11: cheers bob
  9. JD i agree what you are saying but because of the ammount of companies offering pet insurance the competition is strong, I agree with reading the small print but deffinatly compare the cover with other companies, well known companies like petplan which you see on offer in any vets and promoted by the KC and tescos, direct line, morethan ect which spend millions on advertising dont always provide the best cover The other thing to note as well not many companies offer to cover three dogs under one policy most want to do it individually so the premium increases Cheers bob
  10. Hope all goes well mate, lots of people out there with uninsured dogs and not many could face a bill like that, usually means an end to the dogs life, well done mate for taking insurance and giving the dog a chance, would you have gone through with it otherwise ? Prompted me to insure my three dogs anyway £ 26 per month with good cover as well others wanted £30+ one wanted £40 Cheers bob
  11. Accupel every time mate Cheers bob

  14. Thanks mate il give it my best shot as the dog deserves it, Guy i bought him off is looking after me im out with him on Thursday so he can see my progress and put me right if im doing wrong, and then out on his shoot on Saturday for some beating with the dog. cheers bob
  15. JUST FOR A LAUGH HAS YOUR DOGS DONE ANYTHING BAD TO YOU. Whilst leaning on a bank up my back garden my whippet grey from standing at my feet decided to use my body as a ramp to get up the banking. Result broke my nose with his head, but he did make it up. Taking my spaniel x lab to the vets for a neck wound on christmas eve, after being heavely sedated because of a reputation of biting the vet, he was lying out cold in the waiting room, vet comes out to call me in pick up the dog to carry him in, half way across the room he decides hes not out of it and chews my hand. Result
  16. Both my whippet/grey and beddy/grey stop at the hedges on the lamp, the beddy has had the odd one in the hedge but im not a lover of it. As for fences they will jump them on a lamp during the chase but ive seen plenty off accidents with my mates dogs crashing through things, I agree they tend to get more but i much prefer a good course even if the rabbit gets away. Anyway not many make the hedge with my dogs.  cheers bob
  17. Bought him off a mate, dont think many would sell a dog ready for trialing without running him first, most sell them because they dont make the grade, but still make good gun dogs. At least ive got a chance with him, its only me now who can mess the dog up. :11: cheers bob
  18. Wasnt my decision to trial i only wanted the dog for bushing and beating and to shoot over. The dog has been prepared for trialing and was going to be entered after christmas. The guy i bought him off said he will deffinatly trial, i just thought if the dog is up for it then at least give him the chance, if hes good then alls well and il continue trialing, if he dont make the grade ( probably down to my inexperience ) them i keep him for what i originaly planned cheers bob

    Quad

Bloody thing layed me up for a few days as there is a small drop in the banking, it threw me that way and i half bailed towards the long soft grass landing on my back, only to find the long soft grass was hiding some good old rocks. Then to top it off the quad decided to roll over me, thank god i saw it coming as i managed to grab the handle bars which were heading for my head and use the momentum to push it over. Had to phone my mate to help me get it out as you can see it was well stuck, fair play straight up, lifted the front end around and dropped it straight on my foot. I lov
  20. Nice looking dog mate, how tall is he with the whippet in him, hows he hunting, cheers bob
  21. Just going to give the dog a chance to get used to me and my commands as they will very from the previous owner. Dont now wether i need to give it that long but the guy i had him off said to forget trialing next year, and he knows far more than i do. Out yesterday with the dummy and the dog is superb doing everything i wanted, well pleased at the moment. cheers bob
