  1. Got a leather slip on recoil/extension pad with elasticated gusset, its in good condition, I think it puts about 20mm on the length of the stock. Ideal for taking out the strain when pigeon shooting or for ladies or kids. It was on my sbs when I got it and dont use it, shame to be sat in the cupboard, the guy told me he paid £30+ for it, I will take £10 plus post (moved to guns section)

  7. Hi guys, I am looking for some firewood for my log burner and need as much as I can get at this time of year, we dont have mains gas. I am offering a day or couple of days ferreting if anyone can supply me with any wood, I have a chainsaw and log splitter so big logs not a problem.
  8. Well I went down there late afternoon and the farmer was spreading fertilizer which had scared off the birds, should have rung him before hand really. I had a quick chat with him, he is scared they will strip the rape as its very low being a late crop, but I said I would keep a close eye on it. I waited until he left and just stood under the bushes hoping to get the odd bird when they returned, but the didn't really come back. There were the odd 5 or 6 dropping in and I managed to pick the odd bird off leaving just as the sun dropped, believe me it was time to go then the temp dropped quickly.
  9. No mate thats not true, you get some guys that "buy pigeon land" to sell off to day shooting, some off the continent and most to guys who just dont have, or cant be bothered to get some shooting. Most farmers are happy to have guys shooting pigeons on their land, afterall you are doing them a favour as well as the other way around. I have seen hundreds of acres of rape stripped to the ground on some farms/estates where they dont let guys shoot pigeons for whatever reason, game shoots, syndicates etc. I sometimes even get my cartridges bought from farmers, having said that with the price of th
  10. I suppose it does not matter if they originated from here, they are here in abundance and here to stay, they will increase in numbers of that I am sure. I see hundreds each week, they often tease my dogs just the other side of the kennel in the field, you would think they would run miles at the sight of a dog, guess they dont know what they are anymore.
  11. Thanks mate I will try to get some more, its heaving with them around here, on a hare shoot day they can shoot up to 500, that puts the boot in for the "scarce" mongers. Cant see why they can't be hunted with dogs, whats the difference between hares and rabbits other than hares have a better chance, not much but a bit.<img src="http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/default/whistling.gif" class="bbc_emoticon" alt="">
  12. Had a walk down the farm with the camera, plenty of activity in all the frost, we havn't got any snow here yet but thick frosts that look like snow.
  13. Hi, I decided to have a walk on one of my permissions to see if there were any pigeons turned up yet. Up to now its been really quiet but thought the frosts may have made them search for food. There is a field of rape that sits in a quiet location adjoining another farm that has a good cover crop and some laid wheat (eu grant stuff) As I approached I say a good head of birds in the trees that dispersed when I got close. I walked down the field and the bushes and trees erupted with hundreds of them, just wish I had took my gun rather than the camera. I walked all around the field and a tree jus
  14. They are just reluctant in this weather, especially in open ground with not much cover. We have this problem all the time so its just part of the game, when there is plenty of cover they bolt well. I also agree with the noise above ground that does make a big difference.
  15. You'll just tickle em with those! Thats all I use now, well 28/7's don't seem to make a lot of difference to the bags I get, and it softens the blow in the wallet a bit.
