  1. I just cant get enough, my work starts now though (fishing baits www.miraclebaits.com ) so will have to ease off ferreting, one more trip on thursday I reckon.
  2. Dont use your ferrets mate you will spoil them, and a chance of them getting killed too. yeah mate ,they have only just got their first season rabbiting under their belts,i don't do any ratting ,just that i have these wee feckers out the back and the dog goes mad when she see them and the wife goes mad aswell.lol At least when you trap them you know you have them, the field behind my house is littered with dead ones, I dont have any problems near the house, its just the garden near the ferrets and compost heap. Anyone who says they wont go near ferrets must be on drugs I have had th
  3. Thats it mate, knock knock, be gracious and polite, once you get your foot in you can name drop and get other farms to give a reference. Its hard work at first but it gets easier. When I moved to Lincolnshire from Sheffield I didnt have any down here, I now have 9 farms, estates to go at with about 14,000 acres to go at. Keep you chin up and dont get dispondant.
  4. Dont use your ferrets mate you will spoil them, and a chance of them getting killed too.
  5. You need to put a tunnel trap down mate, build yourself a wooden tunnel 8 inch square and 18 inches long and place it on the run, build up around it so they have to go through it. Leave it for a week and then put a mk4 fen trap in it, make sure you bury the trap in soil or something for at least a week before you use it to remove all scents etc. After a week place the fen into the tunnel making sure to anchor it down, and you will get the rats, usually 2 in 2 days, a gap then more will follow. I have to trap on my garden all the time out here in the sticks, I shoot them as well though but do t
  6. i live and hunt in n.yorks and ive never even seen that many rabbits excluding summer time that is. atb ryan Stevo has invited me along at the year end, I cant wait.
  7. Yes not bad but not the best one stevo had, there were 101 on that day, thats some guts to get rid of and some rabbit stew.
  8. As I said earlier here are some pics of Stevo with a north yorks bag, secret location of course.
  9. Stevo van, and he loves it, its kitted out with microwave and dog cages etc, its had a few rabbits in the back I will tell you, they get 100 regular when they go up north yorks, I will get a pic and post it.
  10. Managed to get another day out of the rabbits today, Stevo, Ray and Shaun popped down for another bite of the lincolnshire apple. We did a very difficult hedgerow today with heavy brambles, another 2 weeks and it would have been impossible when they start to grow. Having done some of the easy stuff I thought it only fair to the keeper to have a bash at this as he was having a bit of rabbit trouble in this area. We didnt come across any tiny rabbits, but a couple half to three quarter grown ones, ok "for the chip pan" At the end of the session at 2pm we had 35 big fat ones and 7 half/three q
  11. As with any dog you need to break the dogs to the ferrets, my patts will kill anything they see but will not touch the ferrets. They have access to the cage all the time and sniff them and get told keep off with authority, it takes time but they will be ok. Patts are just killing machines but they can be taught, my bitch got her first lesson at 7 months when she put her tongue into the hole in my ferret box when I returned from ferreting. She was squeeling running around the garden dragging a box with three ferrets in and one tightly biting her tongue, a good lesson and wary after that. It w
  12. Nice to see that we can all stick together on things like this. Its just a shame when something comes between us and what we call normal everyday life. I can understand that some people dont agree with what we do, but to stick their noses in and try to change things that have gone on forever is just taking the piss. If we stand tall I think they would find it difficult to stop us, at least in the near future. With the population growing bigger and droughts etc, there might be a day when rabbit will be on peoples table more often, and even warrens/rabbits guarded as a valuable food resorce.
  13. Nice one, must be a good mate not many would do that, especially at the price they are fetching now.
  14. Ok mate no probs, the newark show is ok for some cheap gear you will not go wrong there. See you soon mate.
  15. Thats what I call a reply, well said bouncer.
  16. It seems that the majority would carry on, good point about criminal records and jobs though. I suppose the farmers would still want us to carry on regardless, afterall its their income at stake. Its carry on all the way for me, guess we will just have to keep the faith and hope it never happens. They said that about hare coursing though, we were stopped last week by the law, someone had seen us ferreting a hedgerow on a roadside and thought we were coursing, I said to the old bill "what with terriers?" and he laughed.
  17. Well mate Brit through and through, deport all the asylum seekers and all these what are anti-english, pro-taliban want putting up against the wall and shooting no mercy just like they show.
  18. Good advice, jute is pretty crap for nets, it doesn't last either. Buy good it saves money in time.
  19. Most of the anti's are recruited at college or university, when I was there (a while ago now though) they were just sat talking about what they could disrupt, they didn't give a toss about animal welfare or anything else it was just trendy to be in those circles. Unfortunately I finished college abruptly, the lecturer was really getting to me and he finished on his arse, I would like to do that to the lot of the feckin antis. I am sure that eventually the time will come, its just when, and we need to be prepared to fight for our sport. I think it will probably be a european bye law (animal we
  20. Just wondered, with all the shite getting thrown at country persuits would you stop ferreting if it was made illegal? My personal stand would be to carry on, why is it that because a few people dont like something we all have to suffer for it. All the nobs moving into the countryside from the cities now with their wives driving big 4x4's when they couldn't drive a mini, the (ANTI'S) and european lesiglation where will it all end. I believe that it will come, and not too far in the future. They stopped hare coursing, fox hunting etc etc, just who the Feck are they to decide for us, a country
