  1. A quick look at the area we were ferreting today
  2. The collie is Stevos, it is awesome at marking and never gets it wrong, he put another collie over her with good working background so the pups should be fantastic.
  3. You can see just how hard it was to dig on this short vidhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aGKvcrPLgMc
  4. We have it sorted, if they say they are cold we pick the shovel up and pass it them, amazing how quick people warm up!
  5. We had a session on Nelstrop farm today, the landowner had told me he was having problems with the rabbits burrowing under the track down the hedgerow and tractors were collapsing the road. We set off full of spirit as usual, Stevo was struggling to get the full crew out however, holidays/beer etc you know how it goes. He managed to get Danny and his younger brother Charlie to tag along for the ride, its great to see the young uns interested in the sport, not many can drag themselves from the old xbox and the like. Well we soon got them into the swing of things, the first 6 holer produced 4
  6. Railways are notorious for rabbits, they have been a safe haven for so many years with people not being allowed on to ferret or shoot. I have and still do ferret on some railway bankings, on one of the estates I ferret they had troubble with the rabbits and contacted the railway authority and were asked if they could sort it themselves, ????? Not being one to argue we have a session every now and again but stay well clear of the lines and stand well back when a train approaches. We chat with the crossing guy and often get a wave from the train drivers, guess they dont give a monkeys either. I
  7. H,i we have found all the rabbits we get are fat and healthy, they are very good at finding food when its hard going not like most birds.
  8. Well we are off again tomorrow, going on Nelstrop farms not been on there yet this season, just had a nice surprise though my daughter Tina just had her baby a week early so I am a grandad again for the 3rd time (Luke was 8lb), god that makes me feel old but proud. Will post the results from tomorrow hope we have a good day then its visiting time if I can blow this flu off quickly, dont want to pass it on to my little cherrub. Tina looks exhausted but gleaming, this was took just half an hour after the birth.
  9. We have had plenty carrying young and the odd milky doe, last year we were bolting young in january.
  10. Just got a call off another farmer complaining about rabbit damage, will check it out see if its worth a visit.
  11. You are better trying lofted full bodied decoys in trees for airgunning, you will have a better chance of getting a good shot as they walk about when they land as apposed to sitting in trees.
  12. Hi lampingking, you seem to have opened a can of worms. In easy language........there is no real better time for decoying it all depends on the area your in. During the summer months there can be some excellent days over fresh chitted, laid, or harvested crops however it takes more than luck. You need to do some leg work watching certain areas for a few days with bino's and checking the crops for damage etc. It sometimes comes together real easy and other times its a pain but never give up. Winter time can be frustrating, you get massive flocks that can be in excess of 2000/3000 birds, but
  13. All the rabbits we get are fat and healthy, we had just one the other day that was skinny, probably remnants of mixy from last year, they never totally recover if they survive. How are the rabbits in your area's anyone got any problems?
  14. Your right there mate, hope you have a good day, we are off monday again just cant get enough at the moment
  15. Stevo's collie in the picture drops its pups in about 3 weeks, if anyone is after a cracking marking dog these are the business, I have never seen a dog graft as hard and be 100% everytime, get your orders in now they will be in demand.
  16. lets just say one of the digs something had moved in and it wasnt red, lucky to get the ferret back and stevos fingers after he stuck his hand down to grab the (rabbit) a quick retreat and from now on avoiding that area. No previous in the area and no tell tale signs, trust me or stevo wouldnt have stuck his hand in and grabbed this LARGE rabbit. The landowner had no idea this was a very old fox earth.
  17. After having a really bad flu all christmas it was a breath of fresh air to get out and about. I called Stevo to see if he was up for it, silly question that was and also invited redeye jedi and his mate mr teapot off here. We met at Ruskington just north of sleaford at 07.30 but it was still quite dark so the flasks came out for 10 minutes while we had a chat. When it eventually got light enough we set off to do the roadside up to the farm lane, this had been looking good for a while but only produced about 6 for us, probably still grazing the fields. When we eventually got on the lane we h

  19. Got a leather slip on recoil/extension pad with elasticated gusset, its in good condition, I think it puts about 20mm on the length of the stock. Ideal for taking out the strain when pigeon shooting or for ladies or kids. It was on my sbs when I got it and dont use it, shame to be sat in the cupboard, the guy told me he paid £30+ for it, I will take £10 plus post
