    depends on what i am going for but i get more fun out of the dogs becouse you have to put more time into them. for game birds it whould be the gun becouse my dogs dont run up trees yet.

    take it where rabbits are feeding in the middle of a field. let it chase them into the bushes jobs a good un.

    its good when you get land like that. we got some like that last season 100+ rabbits a night & we only lamped 2 fields early in the season but where right down to 30s now lol

    i have an allotment me self & i have always just shot rats on it i thought is was like a council house you pay rent like a house so as the tenant of it you should get rid of the pest just the same as you whould in a house. if there is a safe back drop & your shoting with in the law then i dont know anyone to have a problem doing this as long as your in your garden. & alot of people shot the rats up the alloptments where mine are. and the police dont stop you ether if they see you shoting in the garden.

    after reading all the replys of other people i still whouldnt take them out lamping. if i was going to take them i whould take them rating let them tell the public where sickos for killing rats with dog & see how meany people belive them. people get educated about the damage rats do becouse they can afect everyone where as most rabbits only afect farmers ect. someone sead that the press never whent to any hunts pre ban but they did pre ban the papers whent to hare courseing aswell the papers where full off anti hunt storys with pics to go with it about how crule hunting with dogs is. jessy

    i have a jrt about the same age dose the same but if i put him to ground he whould hunt rabbits if the set was sheard. so once i get me some now pens up i am going to get me a new pup in for the fox sets. ps you should of put this in the terrier section mate it will get moved.

    i dont just judge a dog on what it catchs i have see land where you could get 30+ squaters a night & it whouldnt take a good dog to do it ether my mate has some land he was catching desent numbers with his springer on the lamp but this dog whouldnt tuch a lurcher on the lamp. then i have seen land where it whould take a good dog just to catch 1 rabbit on the lamp.

    i use a nvmt 3 (4x50) with a rifle mount/eyepiece kit. its allright for close range shoting rats up the garden or rabbits on the local railway bank but the red dot sight seem to chase everything you try to head shot. the range you can see a rabbit at is about 40 yards but your constantly re focusing them witch dose my head in. & with a nvmt ir 100mw luminater you can see rabbits about a 100 yards away. but they seem to make everything look ferther away then they are so you dont know what distance your shoting unless you know the distance to land markings like trees ect becouse you cant jus

    threre is loads of whippets being used but the problem with them is there like kc dogs there all breed the same laguna this & that sotty sam ect all the same right through there breeding. they go for daft prices becouse they come with a kc witch just means that the breed is f**ked from the kcs history & you have to pay more. give me a good x any day & i use a whippet now so i have no reason to put them down like you say there good little rabbit dog but before i used a whippet i had a bediexwhippet & it was just as good if not better than my whippet on the rabbits.

    If you go out with this bloke, you'll need to know the hunting bill backwards, they'll quote you left right and centre if you get it wrong!!!!!     i use a old excel with a gas ram & whould never put a spring back in it. if you dont like the gas ram just change it back to a spring it easy done.

    the first gun i used was a cometa 300 177 i ended up buying it. i killed some game with mine but ended up given it to a mate that i go lamping with & he swoped it for a lurched. becouse his got killed by a train & he whanted on of the same litter.

    i wouldnt be able to say you shouldnt have a dog becouse all the posts you have put up on this subject you are takeing getting a dog verry seriuse. more so them most people that have dogs on here so get your self one mate if i was you i whould get a little dog first a small lurcher or a terrier. thought if your leveing it all day on its owen a pen whould be a good thing to have just in case it get bored & eats the house lol. you dont whant teh new dog eating your mams house now do you.

    They're not as rare as they used to be, but they are still a protected species. i dont kill them with the dogs anyway mate i have had my ferrets wipped out by a dog that i have had in the past ripping the fronts of cages for ferrets . its not the thing to do with dogs if the have ferrets even if you dont use all your dogs for ferreting but keep them at the same place. i was devod when i whent to go ferreting. i know they use to be protected but with the anount you see in some places though they whouldnt be anymore. are the wild ones bigger becouse most of the ones we see on some of m
