  1. So you think that going self employed will stop you working .Wrong. Just sign on mate .This working lark is vastly overrated I can tell you .
  2. Shot it yesterday evening .I was asked to check on a patch of young trees as there had been a complaint of extensive fraying to young aspens .Walked into the wind to a spot overlooking these plantings and expected to see a young buck ,new to the area .I spied the back of a roe ,head pushed into the hedge and obviously a buck by the shape of the white ass patch .It was not the young buck but a mature one judging by the heavy hind quarters .The head gear was not on show at that time so I waited .A doe pranced out of the hedge which took the attention of the buck and he reversed to take a look .T
  3. Nice one mate ,Ive been trying to get that image up all afternoon .
  4. Ever seen one of thesehttp://img84.imageshack.us/img84/5117/image008small7nb.jpg
  5. It was meant as a joke actually as I knew it wouldnt be long before the trumpet was blown .How can I be jealous of something I have never seen .Good luck to all this coming season .
  6. Stand by for the minshaw moment -10 out of 10 on tarmac runways . :11:
  7. Far better to have a soft lipped missus  :11:
  8. Would it not be better for this lad to get a job in the building trade .Learn a trade as well as get a better body .
  9. Back to the pigeon thing and keeping hawks off them ,a mate of mine into his tumblers ,rollers -stamps a red and yellow eye on the outspread wings of the pigeons with a kids ink stamp set.Says losses are minimal now ,just varies the colour of eye every now and then .
  10. And try not to bring another dog into your drum till the dog your on with is all it's ever going to be. Oneredtrim That statement my friend is one of the best Ive seen on here .
  11. The pics we are seeing now are different to those first posted arnt they Molly .The recent pics are moles as you have gathered but the first pics were definately old rat holes .You all know Im right so lets not bicker about it .
  12. Buffalo BBs mate ,but 30yd max .
  13. I think I read the thread right in that it was a muscle injury Woodga.Anything muscular benefits from being kept cool .If you are able ,run the hose down the leg as often as time allows but DO NOT walk the dog until all swelling has gone . Ps- I run my lurcher on a few this time of year too . Someone mentioned heatpads but these are generally for shock.Good luck .
  14. I think if it affected me directly ,then I may be inclined to look at them differently but its definately a wonderful sight to see raptors in action.
  15. T.M.S-All the dogs you own need doing at the same time as well as burning bedding .This time of year the dogs dont mind being on bare boards which helps in keeping the problem at bay.I treat with "advocate "which also does a variety of other unsavouries ,including the mange mite .
  16. At work recently,we have been fortunate enough to watch a brood of blackbirds developing outside the canteen window ,in a heap of pallets.Yesterday they fledged and one by one were scattered about the site. The parents are very used to disturbance from us and even stayed when some of the pallets were removed ?.I went to pick up some kit yesterday and was just shutting up the office when the local birdlife suddenly called the alarm and took to the air ,a sure sign of winged predator about .I scoured the sky for it but wasnt ready for what happened .A sparrowhawk came from out the sun over my hea
  17. Its easy to say keep at it but if the dog gets failure after failure ,in the end it may quit running rabbits in daylight .Its very frustrating to see apparently catchable rabbits avoid the dog but they are after all running to survive. It will probably happen when you least expect it .Good luck .
  18. You lads are spoilt over there .Nice to see the dig and release mate.No need to kill everything as you can only kill it once .Excellent .
  19. Like you say mate ,it depends on what your standards of work are. From a working line of terriers I would expect more to make the grade of honest worker than 2 out of 10 .Line bred terriers are usually let go to people who know the crack as the breeding is kept tight and guarded jealously and rightly so .7 out of 10 would be an average of what Im used to ,but this has varied in the past. Some promissing young terriers turn out to be just too hard and in extremes have lost thier lives because of it .Never had a terrier killed by quarry on the day but extreme batterings have seen a few off .Some o
  20. No problem mate ,just thought you were rubbishing the idea of letting the terrier see a few rabbits. Sorry if I was wrong .
  21. The min- calibre for boar in England is .270.If a .270 is already owned then a variation has to be obtained to allow the owner to shoot boar as well as deer .This variation is only granted if you can prove you have a need to ,or a place to go to shoot boar .The police will not except the fact that you will buy a day in the future or hope to get permission soon .
