  1. Looks strikingly familiar to every other ferret Ive ever seen!
  2. Rob- these babes are getting very distracting. Is it a tactic to get people on your side .
  3. Did you see the adult birds limping away to draw you off the young .
  4. What happens when you head shoot a fox in a trap with the .22.Some blood is enevitable in cage traps but propper weathering sorts this out.Piss is a bonus in most predator traps as it invites a newcomer to the trap to check out the sexual age of the predescessor, a definate draw .
  5. No offence mik but the velvet is living tissue and will rot, unless like you said ,it has started to drop off.The antler underneath a freshly shed set of antlers never looks as good as one that has thrashed a few trees and become stained IMO.
  6. Kye- You seem to have answered your own thread mate IMO the more sight hound in the mix , the longer it will stay hunting a particular quarry eg fox . The 3/4 is best at this as lurcher to lurcher seems to lose some of the willingness to engage the biteback stuff. Some first crosses, having had a season or 2 of mixed quarry show a distint preference for fox ,even when slipped on a rabbit and a pair of eyes is seen at the side of the beam. The bull cross is a good example of this in that it only takes a whiff of fox scent whilst rabbitting for the dog to be off.The herd/gundog mixes to a lurch
  7. Youve got to finish that biography mate.Dont forget the chapter about the merle lurcher that killed every fox in the district so his terriers wouldnt have to .
  8. Srap the motor mate ,like its been said they never run the same.Get yourself a 4x4.
  9. Plumber may well have told the odd porky pie in claiming some of his writings were his own ,he was very clever at taking a slight truth ,heard from other people, and turning it into a book .Ive read some of these fairy tales and at no time does he state that the terrier he bred was an earth dog.People who keep these terriers do so for other reasons than fox control -accept it .If you take the going to ground thing further then it means other sections for bedlingtons and borders, as not many of these make the grade we expect from the blacks.Plubers deserve a space on here as they are after all-
  10. i do think the entering prosess is very important and some can enter terriers with a high success rate whilst others fail more than they enter. usualy blameing the dogs.
  11. I would describe a genuine lad as someone who sticks at it ,dosnt jack in to try the latest hobby goin around the pub.Someone who would take time off work to help you out in a situation and who dosnt charge their mates for a lining ,expecting only a pup in return. Someone who is not on the phone ,cringing to his missus that the dig might go on a bit.Someone that shares permission instead of caning yours .Most of all, someone that is honest about dogs .
  12. If you believe Sean Frain then it all started from Buck and Breay ,the fell types anyway.Personally Im not old enough to remember them. Some on here write like they are  Theres certainly been some hyjacking of strains over the years Im sure but did the originators care.Did they want the fame ,not fortune ,that some crave?.
  13. Kye-Hope the new dog settles in mate . The starting of a pup too early is what changes them ,I think. If the pup is of, shall we say a mean disposition, starting it too young CAN produce a headbanger that goes great guns for a couple of seasons and then is sickened by it.A pup of a quieter disposition CAN be put off and needs re-entering with care at a later stage .Theres been a lot of discussion about entering on here ,but what signs should the newcomer look for in choosing that moment .I have my own ideas but what are yours ? Stevie D- Could you not make a strong worker even harder
  14. What peoples opoinions on how much a pup is influenced by the amount and type of work it receives in its first year.
  15. If thats its litter mates on the left then you are definately onto a loser .Cut your loses now before you get too attached to it .Sounds like its got no intestines . Sorry to be so abrupt .

  17. Looks like hot work mate ,good going you lucky buggers.
  18. I think, how does a short legged bulldog get two foot in the air to line a greyhound. just seen an advert for a knocker box and wondered what it was, I'd like to think that was the answer.
  19. Do you want to finish this sentence or what ?.
  20. What about cubs too small to be out [not trying to catch you on any ethical crap]. Have you ever tried the warreners way of pitting a den .-Dig hole ,vixen in ,cubs in that night . Just wondered if youve ever tried it .
