  1. In trying to establish the route stock of my own line ,I phoned DW few years back and to be honest the outcome was sketchy at best .He did remember me buying a dog or rather the dog he sold me but expressed that one eyed Tess was Nuttals not his .I have written here that a black fell fell type, Davey ,was put over Tess to produce a litter of black ,white chested terriers .It was one of the dogs from this litter that I bought in 1986 for £20 . Being young back then I wasn't into the history but should have had more questions .That's as far as I need to go back tbh .
  2. I may be wrong but they were designed to be used side by side facing opposite ways in say a dry stone wall .No bait needed or you will target the gnawing variety oif vermin .Caught mnany ,many stoats and weasels with the option to release if i caught a polecat which were quite common here 20 Years ago .Very satisfying catching in what you've made too .
  3. Make sure you make it big enough for mink mate .Used to make a few as a lad but used them on squirrels that chewed the hell out of them in wood .
  4. Just curious as to what happens in law ,if your dog does bite an intruder on private property .All very well having a guard dog but you need to know the consequences too .
  5. The most effective set for mink I found was a fresh created site .Dig a level platform into the bank, having first got permission of course then site trap pinned down .No need to cover for a minks benefit but you might want to cover for the two legged vermin .Double check that slide you found mate as could be an otter .No mistaking though on pad size and drag width .Second to squirrels ,mink are I would say the easiest to trap as their inquisitiveness is boundless.I once saw one go into an empty rabbits bury on the river bank whilst trapping .I placed an open cage trap over the hole it went in
  6. You missed out Wheeler pabs in your name drop .
  7. Signs of mink are quite easy to establish and once seen ,will jump out at you in the future .Footprints along the waters edge ,same as a ferret ,scat sometimes very visible on a tuft of grass other times under an overhang .Two traps back to back will sometimes catch dog and bitch . when I was at it often lol i used to pin the traps with a spike in case of water rise and the chance a mink might turn it over because they are quite active for a time once caught lol.If you do catch ,squeeze the urine over the trap to which there is no finer attractant .Good luck .
  8. Couple of keepers I know use them right up to shooting .
  9. Lol says it all Guy .You have lived up to everything I'm being told.
  10. She's moved them mate ,straw and all and got stung too .
  11. On houses yes mate ,where it gives a slight through flow but not where livestock are kept andthat's if the expensive vent roll was used mate .I'd still like to see 3 or 4 vent ridge stuck up lol. He,ll soon know if the walls start running . I'd take an educated guess at between 5 and 6 grand ,not counting labour if he did it himself .Iron work best part of £1700 I'd say .Very neat work mate and something to be proud of .
  12. If you think you know a bit about me ,name me ,I've nothing to hide .Last bit don't make sence ,you are clutching at straws trying to play it down but never mind .Invite me down ,not for any cock measuring ,just a day out with the dogs .
  13. I had a black dog years ago who would eat right through the spines and kill them.Thought this was normal to be honest mate .
  14. Yes ,I'm going to base all my stock on her as it saves digging .Maybe we could combine thoughts as I know you ain't cut out for the banjo.Wasn't it you that once declared a bury empty in front of onlookers only to have your arse smacked when a young lad entered a dog to be dug to lol.Was maybe a 9 years dog you had at the time ,a cherished worker lol.You not keen on the personal attacks mate are you but you were very keen to smear my breeding in my thread which is an attack on me .Like I said I can take it but expect others to as well .Buy for now Guy .
  15. Your right mate ,roll on September .
  16. That's cos you ain't breeding from tested stock mate ,never had a terrier that hasn't wanted to kill them to the point of being a bloody mess .i would prefer to dig a dog to test him rather than his ability to open a hedgehog ive had plenty that would and do fcuk all after. Was a joke mate ,maybe a bit over your head but still a joke .So would I mate but says something when a dog wants to bay at a hedgehog ,scared rather than get a mouthful .We don't need to put everything on the net to show how big our balls are so let's leave it at that shall we .
  17. Its a joke you fecking inbred .I can take any amount of criticism. It wasn't the personal attack that concerned me just peoples arrogant self destruct on here that pissed me off ,you being one of them .Real life is a world away from here but why broadcast your mindset to the world to boost your inflated ego .Your just pissy because I know who you are ,how you work your dogs lol, your standards lol and what hunts find you a joke .I sent you a pm ,not to threaten but let you know its fact not fiction .
  18. That's cos you ain't breeding from tested stock mate ,never had a terrier that hasn't wanted to kill them to the point of being a bloody mess .
  19. My great grandfather was head keeper to the then Lord bath and had 6 yes 6 under keepers .His wife ,my great grandmother was ladies maid to the then lady Bath .His father was head keeper on an estate in the Scottish borders .I have an old pic somewhere of them both on a grouse moor with a couple hundred brace grouse layed out .Different times .
  20. As a builder mate ,and in no way a criticism as they are top notch ,change a few of the ridge for vent caps or its going to get very stuffy in there despite the cage fronts .Impressed mate .
  21. I'm glad you added the other judge bit lol.
  22. Fell type covers everything from black to copper and usually sees everything in between .No need to desperate types just breeds .
  23. Something irresitable about the smell I think .I've had probs on walks before at night when the terriers have found them and just won't leave .Terriers bleeding and one well dead hog .
  24. Makes me feel all warm inside ,no wait that was last nights curry ,got to go .
