Had an amusing encounter years back when out ferretting .We were opposite a country pub on a bank and got shouted at by a couple getting out of a car which we ignored .Thought no more of it until police arrived ,a sargent and a pretty wpc .They said they had reports of badger digging lol .We had a very large lurcher with us and ferrets .When I explained what we were doing the sargent asked if it was legal to hunt ferrets and were there many about, lol, to which I replied we ain't doing bad ,we've 4 in the box already .Couldn't make it up .

Normal mate ,all mine do it ,its in their nature .Would be worried if they didn't eat whenever the chance arose . The difference is you don't allow it and regulate according to activity ,age and weather.

If a dog go out fast to go back down earth immediately, no matter. But if a dog go out without a strong wish to hunt, dog's at leash. How can I say the problem come from the dog or from the earth ? It depends of work. This season, we have 92 attacks (92 time a dog had worked), we catched 74 badgers. Be careful, we had more fails than 18 (92-74) because sometimes we can catch more than one during the hunt of a dog. I'm surprised you hang on to such dogs mate .Here and for as long as I remember ,a terrier is put in and dug out with maybe the odd show but half hearted workers ge

Someone states basically turn the other cheak, Dido I think .This tactic been tried and they get more brazen .The only way to deal with antis is by force ,fact .Take their cameras ,show them their shit won't be out up with and they don't return .Its human nature to act when attacked just as its our nature to hunt .If they start then retaliate ,its worked here and we ain't seen an anti for 3 seasons ,not even die hard Judy . like said was a cowardly act on an old man but I saw no one stepping in to stop it ,poor show from his comrades .The last face on the vid,the tall one with hoody is a nast

Blaise ,I respect what you do and wish our country was more like that hunting wise .I've followed the thread from the start and enjoyed it and I can see how passionate you are about things .Just one question ......If its badgers you hunt ,target then from what I remember from years back in this country is that every sette will have a stop end ,bedding area as this is the nature of the animal from memory .You state you have a certain amount of failed hunts with dogs being lead a dance then showing above ground .Can I ask how many times you would allow this to happen before coming to the conclus

Any One Got Info On These Beddy Dogs
Squirrel_Basher replied to Coursing mad 24's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
worker to worker and you shouldnt go wrong there will always be litter wastage but a few who as kept a line fairly tite get results simple as atb there out there keep dreaming Morton Litter wastage?,thats the reason there is so much dross about because litter wastage, with a few names sprinkled amidst the pedigree is the mainstay of the modern Bedlington.I breed mine tighter than most and bred towards more of a work ethic than the majority of pedigrees ever did.I used to dream of a unified effort to produce a nucleus of bedlingtons that were reminiscent of their working heritage and conformati -
From what I've seen and practiced ,a good snare man will wipe the floor with any riflemen and both will outdo terrier work as a means for control .I'm not decrying terrier work as I love it but just saying it as it is here .

I could snare a lot more too but I only go when he he gets a problem on a large scale .The chicken locked out on a regular basis are expected to be taken but causing a large scale kill is another thing altogether in his books .

Once youve worked black you'll never go back lol. Like Glyn said there's countless lines down from the original as there is from BN ,just choosing a different path .By using a single outcross a bit different to the norm it breeds a different animal and then onwards and so on and so on . I count myself lucky to have a part of our heritage in the kennel and also equally lucky to have added a bit of something else to suit my style and take things forward to where they are today .

Not so mate ,old wives tale .Done right there is a balance .
-
Not long in from digging, to get an earful from the missus lol Should of been home to greet friends .Kids are grown now , so see them both tomorrow with partners .Huge turkey the dogs will see more of than us lol ,fridge bulging from last minute shopping by her indoors .Knackered but happy ,thinking about my old dad not long gone. Watching recorded mountain men with a large glass of port .Merry Christmas to all and a happy hunting new year .

Never a dead cert mate and only time will tell .
-
Yes mate .He has a full time rat man for the farm assured bollocks but its me he calls when theres a problem .Years ago we killed 276 foxes off this place in one year with subsequent years falling rapidly in numbers but now the numbers are manageable ,even acceptable .His previous manager would rather chase skirt than look after the birds and husbandry was terrible with dead stock everywhere .Paradise for a foxing team but nightmare for finance .
