  1. Great picture Tracey.........one for them to cringe at when they get older eh!...You are doing the best thing by introducing them to the "Real World" at an early age.......Enjoy your Sunday Lunch. Regards Rolfe.x
  2. Could someone identify this cow's breeding please..........got a feeling it's a charolais cross........but not sure.
  3. Yep, deffo fly Agaric. Take some & run off to battle the way the ancient Celts used to do, of course, you'll have to strip off bollock naked & paint your face blue first though...... Normal routine for me that is Malt.........don't bother with the mushrooms nowadays........but by God it impresses the Girls at Tesco's.
  4. Yeah definitely Wood Anemones ............the yellow flowers that look similar are Aconites. Rolfe.
  5. As it was a fantastic day weather wise today i decided to spend a day out and about walking the woods and commons (even managed a picnic of sorts) I took a few snaps of some fungi......one i think was "Fly Agaric" this I think is highly poisonous.......Then i snapped what i think was "Russula Emetica" (The Sickener) Lastly i came across one i cannot identify and this was on the trunk of a fallen silver birch........just wondered if anyone could identify it as i cant find anything like it in my reference book.
  6. Yes Foxy..........always put them out of their misery.........it has hit us really bad this year round here and all the rabbiting i was looking forward to has virtually been wiped out. Regards Rolfe
  7. I was walking on the golf course this evening checking my many mole traps....... and catching the last lovely rays of sunshine before the sun went down.......when the beauty of the place was spoilt for me by the pitiful sight of a rabbit (obviously enjoying the sunshine as i was).........but this one was in the advanced stages of Myxomatosis. I kill many thousands of rabbits each year as part of my job........but i still feel saddened to see rabbits in this terrible state. Nearby a majestic cock pheasant strutted his stuff......his colours vividly displayed in the warm evening sunshine and i a
  8. The footline must be secured to the setting pegs ........see picture to give you some idea.....just loop the footline around the peg before you push it into the ground.
  9. So i am amazed you managed to catch that many WITHOUT the footline of the net secured tightly to the setting pegs.

  11. Well done lads..........nice result there Rolfe.
  12. Very effective trapping method...........works well on squirrels and Mink to if placed on a log across a stream or ditch. No bait is required.........and if you notch out the log the trap will sit flush with the woodwork........just staple the chain to the side of the log. Mk6 Fenns are better than Mk4's in this situation in my opinion. I have taken rabbits in the ones across the streams......to lazy to jump obviously Rolfe
  13. Thanks Guys for the kind responses............you never stop learning at this game.......thats why it is good to learn from others experiences.....! If Mixy hadn't hit us so hard here........i would have had had several big snaring sessions under the belt by now........but it's going to have to wait for a while. Kind Regards Rolfe.
  14. Welcome to the site.........yes loads of Welsh folk on here.........enjoy your stay Regards Rolfe
  15. The standard rabbit run is quite obvious.......even to the beginner..........when they are as distinct as the one in the picture going out on to pasture land. The ones to take a good look at before setting any wires are the ones that pass under or through a fence. Two similar pictures but with a subtle difference that would make all the difference when setting a fence wire. The picture of the fence WITHOUT the post in shot.........shows where the rabbits are jumping through the netting at TWO different points........the second AND third square up from the bottom. (Note the mud from the rabbit
  16. Just a few pics of the long net at use in the daytime.........one of my bigger contracts involves ferreting out under the Yew hedges of an old Hall..........now a residential home. As you can see, i use yards and yards of netting to surround the hedges.......buildings as well..........to ensure that no rabbits escape capture. With the net dog on hand though, he watches closely for any bolters and gets to them far quicker than i can..........as it often involves a 50 metre dash for me. Rolfe.

    Rearing chickens

Why does it worry me a bit when Traceyg says she has.... "Her own little killing room" I think as a Mod you can only BAN someone from the chat room.........Much as you would like to take certain "chatters" on a one way journey Still..........That room could really come in handy at some point.......is it for hire at all I think the boys do a good job with the rearing though and the birds always look fit and healthy and well cared for. I don't know where you are going to find the room for another 100 turkeys though Regards Rolfe
  19. Well i wouldn't mind a roll in the mud with the owner in that case then Rolfe.
  20. Well its a bit late trying to feed them poor rabbits carrots now tracey........ Well done to the boys though that's a great start to the season. Regards Rolfe
  21. Got a complete herd of them at a Stately home near me........I gave them a hand on a cull a couple of years back. Rolfe
  22. I got a feeling that you are not allowed to send guns in the post now........seem to remenber some mail order outlets going bust because of the change in the law........i may be wrong .......but someone out there will put me right i am sure. Rolfe.
  23. Nice one D............you have made a real nice job of that mate........like has been said........a few climbing logs, pipes and tunnels and it will be like the Ritz for the lucky ferrets....... Regards Rolfe.
