  1. Good strong looking russell Looks built for the job that russell in the top pic...does it work as good asit looks?
  2. Two birds with one stone mate, some work for the dog and a keeper happy...
  3. They seem to be able to 'stand' well, any working pics?
  4. Another one from 'Stevos' breeding... , she looks like her coat is longer now? Are you digging to the bitch?
  5. The way we like to do it is breakthrough to the terrier, break him off the game, get him tethered up and out of the way then sort the game out ourselves...I don't see a need for lurchers/drawdogs at a dig, if anything they get in the way but it's each to their own I guess?
  6. Why's the pup for sale mate? Worth keeping hold of I'd say...
  7. How much did that set you back mate? Very handy thing to have and keeps the dogs in meat...just remember to watch your fingers though...lol
  8. Good luck with the pups lads, touch wood a good percentage will make the grade...the sire looks a serious thing...
  9. Like Whin has said if you're dedicated enough and willing to put the miles/hours in then these numbers can be achieved IMO...there's parts of this country where you can go and get big numbers...obviously you've got to have a good deer aswell...
  10. From what I've seen from mine and mates dogs, Saluki/Greyhounds are the ultimate 'pot fillers', if you get a good one the sky's the limit regarding quarry IMO...
  11. Nah...I reckon that black pup should come to my kennels, I've got just the work for a strong dog like that...
  12. I've seen bull blooded dogs find and work well in big earths, I've also seen dogs with no bull in them do the same, I think it depends on the individual dog. The dog on the left has had a few good digs in big earths, finding and botting up until dug to...he's not perfect by any stretch of the imagination but does the job I require him to do...
  13. Looking well, you still got the other lakie Poacher?
  14. From what I've seen of mine and mates dogs with bull blood in them, they are eager to go to ground at an early age which makes you think they're ready but they are not, like Jigsaw has said the longer they're left to mature the better chance they have of doing the job...
  15. Dog on the left bull blooded, pup on the right no bull in that dog.
  16. It just goes to show what breeding does mate, seems funny how it's took five years for her 'prey drive' to show...
  17. Some digging to be had around your way mate, and with the dogs for the job by the look of it...
  18. Good, honest post mate, I know of a few lads that don't get into the swing of things until they're allowed on the land once the shootings finished...if you didn't want to do it then someone else would, keep at 'em...
  19. what is wheeler ? is it patterdale terrier ? Wheeler is a line/ strain of Patterdale mate...
  20. I've dug to dogs plenty of times with just the one hole, but also had to sink two holes a few times to get the game, sometimes it's the dog to blame for letting the game past at the crucial moment but IMO if the game has been dug before or it has seen off a few dogs then if it wants to be past it will...as long as the dog sticks to its guns then thats all you can ask JMHO...
  21. Looks like you have a good kennel of well worked dogs there mate, any more pics of them?...
  22. He's certainly strong enough Benj, hopefully he'll have the heart to match...here's a pic of the pup with my black dog that I consider as biggish, not a patch on the pup...
