  1. Nice pup there Sako, looks like she's going to make a decent size...It'll be good to see if the litter turns out as good as the Trigger x Sal one...
  2. Good going for the young bitch mate, the less stick she takes the more you'll be getting with her...
  3. Wise words there, don't breed off her till you've had a few good seasons out of her IMO...
  4. I've heard a lot of people say that Wheeler dogs are just totally mute... . The one I've been digging to was very hard on his first 3 or 4 digs then started using his mouth and has been a mixer ever since, doesn't mind taking hold but doesn't take un-needed stick which is good... Also just to add I've also heard a lot of lads say they are bad fighters but this dog is rock steady with both dogs and bitches...what's everyone else's views on this line?
  5. I've got a Nuttall x Wheeler here, he turned 3 in October, he entered early but I would say he didn't mature till he was about 2 years old, had a few good digs to the dog then dug to him baying at scent, gave him another chance and have had some real good digs to the dog since in real testing places...so I think he must have had an 'off' day that day...
  6. The two buttons don't work, I think they're there for when they were used in avalanches etc. They're easy enough once you've figured it out, you'll wonder how you coped so long with a deben...
  7. Top drawer pic of that charlie lads, both dogs look well worked Sounder, keep at 'em matey...
  8. Good pic that Stabs, you did well IMO to get that type of dog broken at the age of 3, in regards to the original question I think you'll have trouble trusting older terriers with a ferret, i think they'd regard it as quarry no matter what. Older lurchers don't seem to be as difficult to break...
  9. Have a bump on me mate...nice mug that matey, and for a worthy cause...
  10. (PRE-BAN)It all depended on the circumstances for me, if we were there to kill the game then we did, but otherwise it was left to run for another day, the only other time we killed them was if they were not in a fit state to be released...
  11. Don't mean to hijack the post but why have you bred off the bitch if she's only a bushing dog?? As for the dog it might be good but the breeding is going down the drain lining it with a bushing bitch of unknown breeding, what warrants the £200 price tag?? Just an honest question...
  12. how much were the pups. He say's that because D Wheeler originally got his dogs off Brian so he's says/claims it's all his stuff but just diluted...
  13. This should be a good thread, the two dogs already described are the sort of things to breed off IMO...
  14. I've never read a book so full with pics of deep digs, hole ends and top class working terriers, I hear that Frain digs 500 a season....
  15. They are decent trousers, the velcro at the bottom is a c**t for coming loose when wet or muddy though...
  16. Looking good Benj, it's a good start if she's naturally retreiving, should have a bit of fun with her come next season...
  17. f****n hell, some amount of quarry there, were they all dug or was there lurchers/guns used??
  18. Size is important but doesn't need to be priority, if the mother and father are workers then they must be the right size to go to ground and work their game, so the pup should level out about the same height, it's the working ability that the pup needs to have mate, hopefully she'll have it in abundance for you...
  19. Hopefully the first of many for you and the bitch...
  20. You want to post this topic on the lurcher and running dog secton mate, you'll probably get more feedback on there...
  21. Bull cross as in patterdale or bull cross greyhound??
  22. I'll be making the trip, will bring a few mates and dogs etc. is there terrier classes as I love a rossette  ....lol
  23. They've certainly got the blood in them to turn into good 'uns, heard a bit about the dog used and know it's decent to say the least, obviously the bitch has seen a good bit of work aswell so luck is on their side, good luck with them Steve...
