  1. Nice strong looking dog there SD, looks built for the job, I really like the type of dogs youse fellas keep, seen them on another site aswell mate... YIS BLUE
  2. My Whippets are Sooty Sam bred also. I like that blue dog of yours, bet you had some fun with him before the ban What other crosses are in his make-up? Alright mate, his father was a full saluki and his dam is a first cross whippet x greyhound, he stands at 27 1/2" , a few lads off here have seen him run, he was good on every type of quarry day and night (preban)
  3. I departed with a black dog recently that although would stay to difficult game and could find in large earths, if there was nothing in then you were still digging him out, after a few times of doing this he had to go...
  4. dont know whether i can span him or not, never tried to be honest, the dog should make the right size for the work he will be doing...
  5. A black pup I have at the moment that will be ready to start next season, 7 month at the moment...
  6. £500... .I wouldn't like to think I lost them while out hunting...I use some average ones that were about £100 when we're out with the lurchers (tracking ), they seem to do the job...
  7. Some decent looking dogs there Dingle, seen these pics on other sites a while ago mate...
  8. Nice pics there lads, a mate I hunt with with used to have two beauty blue whippets that were Sooty Sam lines I think, they were quality rabbit dogs and caught the odd hare aswell... .Heres a pic of a dog I have at the moment, he's exactly a quater whippet which is where I think he gets his blue colouring from, he stands at 27 1/2 " though so he's big enough for other things(pre-ban)... ...
  9. cheers for the reply strongstuff, ive already got a set of couplings off you but thet are steel couplings(i think??) i prefer the brass though mate, i'll have a look through your website now mate...
  10. I payed for them when they were first out, paid about £75 for all 3, seems like they've shot up in value...
  11. I don't rate his books at all mate...too much on conformation/showing etc. for my liking...
  12. good going again Dfee , we had a handy dig today to a big dog fox, funnily enough the dog we dug to is called Taffy also...
  13. Thats the best reply you'll hear mate, everyone whos' into their digging proper will have dug to rabbits, some dogs are just too keen, ive dug to a few things, including rabbits and even a rat once, the worst thing to dig to though has got to be fresh air that's happened to me a couple of times...
  14. Good luck with them pups Dfee, let us know how they span out mate...
  15. You already know my views on this Benj, I don't rate bull x's during the daytime, on the lamp however they will and can deal with most things,IMO a good saluki x will do what most bull crosses can't but thats just my opinion. Ive been talking to dave today, we're gonna put my 'blue' dog over 'meg' next time she comes into season, we'll be taking a pup each, and if there's more you're welcome to one, you've seen these dogs perform a good few times so you know what to expect, should be good alround day and night dogs...
  16. Sorry to hear that mate, from what you've posted it seemed you were looking forward to entering the pup, hope you find a good working home for him mate...
  17. Yep, I'm sure G. will know Wilf, there's not much he don't know about the Wheeler stuff...
  18. What's the reason you're getting rid of him mate??? YIS 'BLUE'
  19. Like has already been said, it's hard enough to breed a working dog, stud dogs/brood bitches need to have at least 3 or 4 solid seasons behind them before they can be bred from, a 2 year old dog is nowhere near the finished article...
  20. Good going mate, like has already been said 'He who dares...wins', we had a dig like that last season, theres a big sett at the top of a bank that looks like it goes very deep, and due to different terrierlads around our area not wanting to put their own dog in the spot it got a reputation as 'undiggable', anyway we had a perfect frosty morning that we thought would guarantee a dig, went straight to the 'big' spot and entered the dog, we turned on the box expecting 10 foot plus and were very surprised to get a mark of 5 foot, after a easy sand dig we broke through to the dog and this very big
  21. I'm in Darlington, I've seen two up this way, one towards Bishop Auckland and one near Sedgefield, hopefully they'll be left to breed for a good bit of sport in a few years...
  22. A lad I know owns it, if its the same dog i'm thinking about, litter brother to CNuttalls 'Casper'???
  23. Just read through that link Andy, it's a disgrace that they can name and shame people...some of the incidents were dated more than 10 years ago...
  24. Been to Driffield pre-ban with a private pack of hounds beating fox and deer for the lurchers, seemed decent land to me...
