  1. That would be illegal, would kill all the plants and grass, and is unlikely to stop the moles digging around it.
  2. Hi steve I know, I'm sorry......... but (here come the excuses) My workbench was still in the construction stage I had already tuned all my traps I've been a bit busy....... I still haven't got a clue how the video camera works or how to edit any film. Anyway, glad to hear old Dave is getting a grip with the bunnies. I'm suprised that Ratsnatcher hasn't been down there to show him how a real pro deals with em. Anyway, I'll let everyone know when I've done it.
  3. Don't bother baiting your fenns, just place them in a suitable tunnel (either artificial or from natural materials). I think it's also unlikely that a rat would 'bury' a trap to get bait - could be a hedgehog or other varmint nicking your bait. Rats are 'neophobic' so will not go near anything new in their environment until they've got used to it. Permanent tunnel traps are a great way of picking up the odd rat before they get to settled into your environment. Ditchshitter wrote an excellent post in the 'living off the land' section some time ago. I always 'tune' my fenns so that th
  4. Try doing a search on the forum using the button on the top toolbar. This is a very common question on here.
  5. You want to catch rabbits in longnets and then shoot them??????
  6. I've nothing against people trying to sort their own problems out themselves as long as they do it safely. What I do have an issue with, is people (go back and read the original question) who have no idea, asking how much to charge to do a job that they are not trained, qualified, or insured (read my post, your BASC insurance will not cover you) to do. This IS NOT someone asking for help to sort out a problem of their own. It is someone who has been offered the chance to do some paid work which they are NOT qualified to do.
  7. Nice to see you haven't lost your touch with the birds Rofle
  8. An 'honest buck'? Hmmm, claiming to be something he isn't (a pest controller) doesn't sound very honest to me. I started with training courses, and then six months shadowing someone who knew what they were doing..... This isn't a few rats in a corner of a shoot, or a farm, it's someone's home and garden. Their health and safety is at risk all the time there is an infestation, and a novice is asking for advice about how to deal with it. Most local authorities offer free or subsidised services to householders who have rat infestations, which just shows how serious the issue can bec
  9. Good luck to those of you going for your RSPH level 2. Don't forget, it is the first step up an increasingly long ladder. The RSPH 2 qualification is now recognised as the 'entry level' qualification. Don't go thinking you are fully trained when you've got it. The BPCA training courses for the RSPH exam are very good. They use some quality trainers. Enjoy.
  10. You should let a trained, qualified, insured and experienced pest controller (who should know what to charge, and what methods to use) do the job. Novices trying to 'have a go' are becoming more common, and are taking the food from the mouths of professionals.
  11. I never usually have a problem using Ficam W, providing the recommendations are followed by the customer. At 94p per litre of diluted product, it's quite cheap to use as well. I buy the 500g jars which allows you to mix up the right amount of product (rather than the soluble sachets). Not had a call back yet this year, and do 1-5 per week.
  12. Try doing a search on here and on the FAQ section. This has been asked many times before and there is some good advice to be found.
  13. Are those products approved for use through a fogger? If not, you are commiting an offence under CoPR.........
  14. Whatever product you choose to use has to be approved for that application method, i.e. if you are going to fog or ulv, the label must say that you can. I use Aquapy through mine, and treat any alighting surfaces with a good residual (like insectaban).
  15. Andy Go for the B&G flexilite fogger, which gives various particle sizes from ULV upto fog. It costs alot less than the other microgen type machines and also has the added advantage of being able to use any liquid rather than the expensive microgen type bottles. You can also use it to fog disinfectant and other products. Need remote control? Simple: just use an extension lead and switch the machine on from outside the room.
  16. Try Trapworks (Link); David makes excellent wires, both breakaway and standard.
  17. I'd be the last person to defend over pricing, but................... the one thing you have to remember is that the bigger a company is, the higher it's overheads will be. Pretty ladies to answer the phone cost money, as do managers, surveyors, health and safety consultants, laptops, servers, and all the other crap that goes with running a big concern. I always used to say to my staff, "you either cost this company money or you make money to pay for everyone else. The only people in a pest control company who make money are the technicians. Without them, the rest of us would be fec

    Talk Talk

I've had problems with Talk Talk and BT. I now use the post office (homephone and broadband) and have done for over two years with no problems whatsoever. I cannot recommend the post office enough. Top service, uk based call centres, cheap, reliable and also means you are supporting your local post office.

    pheasents

They may be wild, but they are still out of season! Leave well alone at this time of year. Late broods are not unknown. It is also illegal to 'take' game during the close season.

It seems like a strange time of year to ask a question like that?
  21. Not quite sure why some people here think that traps aren't effective; as Netter says, many thousands of rabbits have been taken with traps....... but then, what the feck do I know????
  22. I must be in the minority thinking it was a load of crap then........ A fat terrier that missed easy rats, and some obviously 'set up' shots...........
