I don't think there is a single site that provides all the possible answers you may need. Specifically what are you after?

Rats In A Loft
Matt replied to Heyford moles Pest Control's topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control
Would love to see the footage. You need to upload it to a host like you tube or photobucket, you can then post it here using the link provided. Any problems PM me and I'll do my best to help. -
The antis hate Owen Paterson because he supports hunting and takes a pragmatic approach to managing badgers. Posting their propaganda pictures is just helping them
-
It should be remembered that the farmers themselves paid for the cull. The costs to the taxpayer were the humaneness monitoring by civil servants, and the policing which was deliberately ramped up by the antis who's sole intention was to make the policing as expensive as possible. That picture posted in the first post of this thread has been lifted straight off an anti. It should also be remembered that the cost of bTB, largely caused by the reservoir of disease found in wildlife, and badgers in particular, is heading towards a billion pounds in ten years. We ignore the badgerTB p

One is a Bethel Rhodes the other is a Proctor (far eastern crap).

WOW! Someone has been listening to Dr May and all his followers!!! It DID NOT cost that much to cull badgers!! The police bill was huge because they are overpaid and were ineffectual.... I'm probably in the minority here, because I've met OP personally, and despite my best efforts, I actually liked the fellah. He's pro hunting, pro farming and pro countryside..... and unlike most politicians he stands up for what he believes in. Please don't publish the lies and inaccuracies pimped about by Dominic Dyer, Brian May, Bill Oddball and all the other antis that promote an

Mole Trapping Some Questions
Matt replied to James Cooksey's topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control
I hate to say it, but I think you are wrong. Go and do some proper research! I think you'll find there are more molecatchers (traditional or otherwise) than you realise..... If you think it's potentially an easy way to step in to an old mans shoes and earn some easy money, then I think you could be in for a shock. -
Just to add, Killgerm stock BR traps and will sell to anyone.

Mole Trapping Some Questions
Matt replied to James Cooksey's topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control
Hmmmm, I'd like to say, NO COMMENT.... :-) But I won't..... There is no legal requirement to check mole traps every day. How much to charge? Well, the complicated answer is as much as you need to make it worthwhile... but that's not what you want to know.... Prices vary across the country, with some people charging as little as £5 per mole caught and others much, much more.... Some folks also charge per hour, with £15 being an oft quoted figure (not enough really). Some go for complicated £x for the first mole, plus a set up fee, plus travelling costs, and subsequent mole -
Yep, I've heard that already The thing is.... FP weren't exactly forthcoming with an apology or an offer to replace the duff traps or even reimburse me for the expense of coating them in Speed Dip. I haven't bought any more, and don't plan to either... The Bethel Rhodes are far from perfect; I had a heated conversation with the guy in charge of the shop floor last year because of the standard of traps they were sending out at that time. His attitude was that they'd made them like that for 30+ years, so it must be fine.... If you've never done it; get your hands on the real M

Give John B a ring at Fouteen acre and ask for a deal.

Hmmm, I'm not sure about Flat Packs to be honest.... I've got about a hundred of them; in fact, I set a few today.. but there are a number of problems with them.... Firstly, like all modern traps, compromises have been made to help ease manufacture which have made them less than perfect. When you compare them with an original trap made by J N Duffus himself, you will notice some significant differences.... The Duffus family designed their trap with trapping moles in mind.... all the modern versions have been designed with profit and ease of manufacturing in mind.. they are all copies

I ended up going with Hastings. £18 per month fully comprehensive. I was with NFU years ago and a tractor drove into me. NFU tried to get it as knock for knock because they also insured the tractor driver and I was only 3rd Party. Ended up with lawyers and they had to cough up. Swore I'd never go 3rd Party again, and never use NFU again, but I now have the quad insured with NFU so I've gone back on it.

Benders work very well on established rat runs. I've used several different designs; a basic figure of four tealer made from a hazel fork is simple and works well, as does the nail trigger. Have a look at some of the articles on here for ideas.

Spring snares are legal for rats, moles and other 'small ground vermin' but not for other species like rabbits. If it's beam tealers you're after, I think Trapworks used to sell them. Baited snares for rats are not necessary; don't over complicate things any more than you have to; there are several ways to create 'benders' to snare rats on their runs, most of which are simple and effective.

Rats In A Loft
Matt replied to Heyford moles Pest Control's topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control
Are you sure there are no mice there? Did you find the source of the rat problem? How did they get into the loft? You should also educate the customer. There is no risk to pets from bait providing it's properly placed. A dog would have to eat a significant number of dead rats in a short space of time for it to have any effect on it. Motion sensor cameras are very useful in situations like this. -
Unbelievable. Do you really think that's funny? So, if the horse had thrown the rider, damaged the car, or worse, would it still have been funny? We've all seen inconsiderate road users, some riding bikes, some riding horses, some driving lorries, and yes, some even driving cars..... There was a scary survey done a few years ago. I can't remember the exact figures, but the majority of male drivers based their decisions on what their legal rights were rather than what was the safest thing to do. Scary stuff... Yes I thought then and still do now that it was funny as f**

I stand corrected. So any local authority, or company providing services to domestic properties will not have the same burden of regulation and administration? Seems unfair to me, and yet another way to try and separate the commercial and domestic sectors... It still sounds like a right arse to me Blatta... what about storage? Let's say (for example) you have technicians spread all over the country that work from home... will each home address have to be registered for the storage of hazardous waste? Or will they have to deliver their waste straight to the office/stores as so

That doesn't surprise me. The BASC etc all produce 'Best Practice Guidelines' that often wrongly state that spring traps have to be checked daily. They don't. Only if they are set for rabbits or hares do they have to be checked daily. Break back traps are specifically exempted from the Spring Trap Approval Orders as well providing they are set for rats, mice or moles. Yes, and there are plastic bait boxes specifically produced for the purpose (AF Snapper is one). One point to consider is that whilst rats are naturally cautious, mice are inquisitive.... In re
