  1. I don't..............
  2. Dytkos, don't let it fecking worry you because I don't give two f*cks , it's only an internet forum ffs Fibber. You were crying about it the other day. No he wasn't .... He assured me it was just the onion he was peeling whilst reading THL....
  3. Here ye go lads; Click here for the first (of many) blog entries Enjoy it, I think you can follow the content and comment on entries. I'll try and keep it up, and let you know what I'm brewing, what I'm drinking, and what has gone wrong as we go along. If there is any particular subject you want to discuss, let me know.
  4. Nobody has been banned because they have an opinion. Some, however, may have been suspended for their failure to express their opinions without being offensive. Please stop making mountains out of molehills.
  5. A look you must be familiar with Ross
  6. The fact that you need to even ask......... If I'd had good reason to lock or remove this thread I would have done so ages ago. All this moaning is very, very boring. If you don't like the site it's quite simple....... don't log in anymore. Continually posting about how rubbish you think the site is because you can't have lewd avatars is just childish.
  7. Are you sure? This has to be one of the most stupid threads ever. I clicked on 'new content' earlier. Middle of a weekday, and there was more than one post a minute. Like I say lads, take a look at the whole site not just this (small) bit of it. There's no problem with having a bit of a 'craic', but the rules are there for the protection of both the members and the owner, and need to be respected. Most of the members mentioned have either decided not to log on (for their own reasons), or been totally stupid and found themselves s
  8. Some vets do dogs into the stomach as well. It's mainly because it's easier for them because they don't have to bother finding a vein. Like you Ian, I generally do the ferrets myself when the time comes. My Mrs is as daft as a brush though, and insists on rushing them off to the vet if there is anything wrong with them. My experience is that if they are bad enough to need the vet, they rarely recover anyway. I'm rapidly coming to the conclusion that the veterinary profession has turned into a licence to print money. I took Florence to the vet last week because she needed a stitc
  9. Half a dozen people who post in the general section gone out of 50,000+ site members and anyone would think it was the end of the world.... A few people need to sit back and take a long hard look at the whole site, not just the bits they frequent
  10. As others have already suggested; Larsons work best in the spring when the birds are territorial. Loose the plastic decoy; corvids are notoriously intelligent, and that will be putting them off. When you say you've made the trap small, how small? There needs to be enough of a 'drop' into the catching sections. You should also consider a Clam Trap (often called 'Larson Mate') they are very simple to make, and very effective in catching single birds that you can then use as call birds.
  11. It was You've done well there; and as a bonus it's a lovely pint
  12. If the bottles are really bad (shite stuck to the bottom), put a teaspoon of sand into them with some warm soapy water, and put your hand over the top and give them a damn good shake up. You can also mix a gallon of cleaner steriliser solution and put three or four inches in the bottom and leave them overnight. I'm quite fussy about bottles; I soak off labels and scrub them with a scouring pad to get rid of the remaining glue, and also run them through a dishwasher for the first time. After that, it's childs play. I just rinse them a couple of times with clean cold water and then ste
  13. I hope everyone is OK Tea pot. We may have had our differences, but I'd not wish anything like that on anyone. It's stories like this that help to restore your faith in humanity. In this world of selfishness, with everyone rushing from A to B with little thought for anyone else, it's nice to hear another story about someone doing the decent thing. Something similar happened down here last weekend. Big pile up, two people killed, and a chap who lived nearby ran across two fields and over a fence to help until the emergency services arrived.
  14. Good luck with that Chaos here tonight. Bottled up the Hambledon Bard kit before it got stupidly strong, and I'm just running 40 pints of Youngs Harvest Bitter into a barrel. Elderflower picking on Sunday, so watch this space how did you get on with the elder flowers. Il be trying a wine with them this year hopefully. The elderflower situation is not good I spent ages picking a bucket full of the things whilst I was gathering some firewood. Whizzed back fully loaded down with firewood on the back of the bike, and my precious bucket of flowers and the saw on
  15. Yes, twice After the first time, when he came back in a short time, it was agreed to remove his account on condition that he didn't re-register. What did he do? He re-registered and then told everyone on here that it wasn't him When we tidied up the catty section he got the hump and was given a warning. He then kicked off, so was again, removed. The forum is bigger than one poster, so I suggest you just crack on with what you do best; that is, sharing information and experience on the subject in hand.
  16. are we not allowed to say fanny anymore 'Fan-hay' (as they say in Berkshire) is fine

    A Walk.........

T'is good, for sure, but it's nowt on 'rattlin' hay............
  18. I've just been for a walk with Florence. It suddenly struck me that it was a typical mid-summer walk in the English countryside. First field was full of healthy bullocks. The smell of cattle is something special to me; as they gathered round, sniffed, licked and tasted our smell, I was struck that I actually love the smell and presence of cattle. Onwards we struck, through the long meadow grass my boots gathered the seeds as we went forward. We checked three rabbit traps in a hedge; nothing caught. The next field was a joy. Nearly 'made' hay; rattling, and giving
  19. No dickheads, no problem Thought we couldn't use offensive words? I'll be confined to the punishment wing no doubt In the meantime, let's all just get on with things, eh?
  20. Matt the new rules are not being taken well, nothing new there. But people may feel less resentment towards the rules if all members were treated equally? In other words an equal playing field for all. Fairness. Do you have a problem with that? TC Not at all As I've already said; we can't do anything about what is posted on facebook. If you do, then report it to facebook. Members have been asked not to post sexual pictures etc. I'm racking my brains to see what the problem is? This is a field sports site, not facebook. There seem to be a minority on here that frequent
  21. FFS guys......... "not fair"........... "not worth coming on"...... Have you actually heard yourselves?
  22. I see no problem with the clean up, the link thumbnail I highlighted is probably someone who liked THL on facebook and is linked through the like. But, the fact still remains that the thumbnail image is still visible on THL, where we have been told on numerous occasions lately that images of that ilk will not be tolerated. TC I'm not sure if this will make sense, but whilst those pictures are visible from this site, they are not actually on the site. We can control what is on this site (or try to, lol ) , but we can't control what folks post on Facebook.
