One thing we can do is to stop painting pest control as something that's going to make folks easy money and a life of bunny bashing and a quick buck...... Famously, Rentokil were subject to a big investigation by the competition commission years ago (about 1988, I think). At that time, there were reckoned to be around 1200 pest control businesses in the UK. I think there's much, much more than that now It's a hard life out there, whatever trade you're in. It just seems to me that there are more and more courses around that people expect to make them pest controllers over night,

And that, is part of the problem Too many people, chasing too little work, and undervaluing themselves to get the work. Charge a fair price to do a good job, but when jokers like this come along it makes fools of us all.

Pest Controller As A Career Advice
Matt replied to Kemperz21's topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control
Seriously, my advice would be to find something else There are too many people doing it, too many wanting to do it, and not enough work. If you want a life of uncertainty and penury, then crack on, but in hindsight, I wish I'd done something different with my life and I've seen the best of it If you do decide to go ahead, bear in mind that all the qualifications in the world won't make you a pest controller. What can seem like a fun way to spend your spare time looses it's gloss when you are trying to pay the bills, and everyone and their uncle is setting up in competiti -
Glad it's worked out well for you fellah Bear in mind homebrew doesn't travel well. All that jiggling around in the car tends to disturb the sediment. It may be worth re-bottling some and taking it as 'bright'. There seem to be more and more cider kits available. I was down at Jeff's the other day and was amazed at how many different ciders he has in stock I'll do another blog post in a couple of days; and maybe add some video of the bottling process.

The truth is, in a woodland situation like this you don't really need bait in the tunnel traps. Squirrels are inquisitive little buggers, and can't seem to resist a tunnel I tend to use whatever I've got to hand. Often whole wheat, sometimes whole maize, but my favourite is to get hold of some whole cobs in the autumn, cut them into slices, and leave them drying. I hang them off a bit of wire in the cages and the squiggers can't resist them. Two more out of the cages today. I may put a video or two up later this evening.

Well spotted I always chuck a handful of bait through the tunnels (peanuts in this case), when I'm trapping squiggers

Same here Dead as a clat..... BUT.......... as I said to Mr Wasp the other day; it's still early. Years ago it didn't kick off until at least mid July Got my fingers crossed here as the moles have gone quiet and I've got some serious bills to pay.

Thanks She's a pet really these days, but she's earned her keep well enough in the past I'll try and knock together another film today

These people thrive on confrontation One of their main goals is to get a reaction from you, and when they do, you can be sure they'll record it and twist it to suit their purposes. They want to portray hunters as violent criminals, and occasionally we make it easy for them. I always find the silent treatment annoys them more than anything, and I've had some face to face dealings with some of the big ALF names as well as the student types. Keep calm, keep quiet, and carry on doing what you are doing. Their primary goal is to stop your activity, their secondary goal is to gather ev

It's also worth noting that if you view as a guest you can't view pictures posted I've had a few PM's over the years from members who don't post but want the facilities membership offers As has been said, there's no point in worrying about guests, and I think making posting compulsory would not improve the site one bit. Keep it legal and sane, and no-one has anything to worry about

Nothing is fair game without the permission of the landowner -
did you stay over they used to have a band on at night be late 90s when I went .. No, we did it in a day. Met at the pub at 5am, had a pint or two of cider, and got driven there. Got back at 10pm and made a session of it............ lol The wife still hasn't forgiven me

We arrived at 8am and started drinking 'Goodwood Ale' at £4 a pint..... Including the helecopter ride (I shite myself), I spent nearly £300, which given the fact our tickets were free was some going... Mind you, we did drink a bit....

I went about 3 years ago. Fantastic day out, the smell of those cars will live with me forever. Drank too much, enjoyed myself far too much and would recommend it to anyone with deep pockets and long arms

When rabbit trapping goes wrong: Funniest thing was that the trap was anchored so well that I was dangling by my thumb from a hedge bank.....

If there was nothing wrong with the image then why remove it, you say that its unacceptable but cubs with big holes in them ain't? Neither bothers me but you seem to be getting very finiky with some stuff.......rather childish tbh. Read what the man has written It wasn't the picture, it was the content that went with it I'm sure everyone realises that if you post stuff you shouldn't, the whole post will be removed without warning Enough now lads, eh?

The points I was making were general points Newkid; not aimed at any one member I understand fully what you are saying, but equally, we all have to accept that contrary to popular belief, we don't live in a free country, and you can't just say or do whatever you like whether that's in the local pub, or on a website There's nothing wrong with harmless banter, providing it is actually harmless

I've not really had anything to do with this one, but I would suspect that if a 'playful' member had posted a picture of a cut finger, and deliberately made it look like a penis, it may be deemed to be against the new rules?Whatever :no:Is it really worth all this fuss? This is a hunting site, not a youth club. Perhaps if folks don't like the site they could stop logging in rather than constantly posting threads designed purely to provoke a reaction?Just a thought folks Matt I don't tend to get involved in this shit tbh.. But it was a cut finger... Nothing more, nothing less.. I get
