Without sounding like the 'Merchant of Doom', you can do the live in, do the course and pass the exam; but it won't make you a pest controller, or a businessman There are far too many folks being taken in by the 'lure' of a future of certain success by these course offers If you've got an aptitude for form filling, can retain basic knowledge, and have a basic degree of common sense you can make a reasonable living working for someone else in the pest control industry. If you've got all of the above, plus the ability to sell yourself, combined with some fairly rudimentary busi

How can a trap be too secure? We're inundated with badgers down here. If the trap isn't anchored down well they drag the trap away. I've lost traps that I thought were well pegged down to the stripey vermin

Who told you that chap? There were 'other' duties I had in mind for her

well if you even need a mole man to "exspand" That was back in 'the day' as it were; when I worked for a big company These days I'm happy bumbling around catching a few moles and avoiding hassle whenever possible

I don't know which is funnier; the facebook page or the reaction by some on here

I use bullet type removable anchors, which I buy from Arrow Anchors.

For All The Molecatchers.....enjoy !
Matt replied to heritage's topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control
Well worth the wait I'm sure Jeff will enjoy reading my comment as well -
I use speed dip. You mix it with petrol and dip the traps and they come out nice and black and the waxy surface makes the trap fire a little quicker. Pour a kettle of boiling water over new traps to remove any grease; extreme care should be taken when considering boiling traps as it's easy to over do it and potentially change the temper of the springs. Natural tunnels should fit into the environment and will be hard to spot by the inexperienced eye.

You need to check the law. You are NOT entitled to shoot a dog just for being in a field with livestock. Oh, and I'd make the most of your FAC while you can. With that kind of attitude you won't be keeping it for long The fact is that just as some dog owners give other dog owners a bad name, so FAC holders give other FAC holders a bad name

Much the same as me J Rough edges, weak springs, softer wire used for trigger loops... I spoke to the works manager about it, and he assured me they've been making them the same way for years, and saw no reason to change Now don't get me wrong; I didn't buy as many traps as Killgerm; but I did buy in excess of 1000 traps a year, and I thought they may just humour me, but no, they really weren't interested.... So when the time comes, and I have to 'top up' my current stock, I don't quite know where I'll go; but I suspect that given the fact that Flat Pack have sorted their

I have a couple of hundred BR traps and used to sell a few. Sadly, the quality of the trap declined, and despite the fact that I had a fairly good relationship with them, they refused to accept that their traps were becoming inferior to other brands on the market. When you look at an original JN Duffus trap and compare it to the modern equivalent (regardless of where in the world it has been made) you can see that the design has changed to ease manufacture rather than improve the trap. For me now, there is only one trap that I would (reluctantly) fork out cash for; and that's the F

Dealing With Fleas On Shot Meat
Matt replied to Matthew Phillips's topic in Living Off The Land & Game Cooking
I wouldn't be putting fresh shot game into a carrier bag it needs to cool as rapidly as possible, and plastic bags don't allow the meat to breath. I read somewhere that fleas will usually leave the host within seven minutes of death -
Simon Whitehead's Christmas Offering :)
Matt replied to heritage's topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control
I hope anyone reading this who is a member of the Guild of British Molecatchers realises that they are fuelling this mans ego and resigns forthwith. I saw nothing illegal in that film, and Jeff himself has sold a DVD with instructions on making the board type snare mole traps. The man should be outed as the snake he is. If you're a member of the GBM and you are reading this, then please tell them you don't agree with this snake undermining everyone who wants to trap. -
Going nowhere, so locked.

Simon Whitehead's Christmas Offering :)
Matt replied to heritage's topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control
Not yet mate Truth is, I'm 100 miles away from the video camera at the moment... the wife came to visit at Christmas, and I forgot to ask her to bring the camera down with her As it happens, I may have to drive up there in the next few days as likkle Florence is in season, and my two elderly labrador dogs have lost ten years and are driving the wife mad I'll keep ye all posted -
He already has............ several times. This thread is going nowhere lads

How many times does it need to be said? The owner of this website doesn't want an 18+ section, or lewd soft porn pictures on here. Get it? For someone who is boasting about being on a better forum, you sure as hell spend a lot of time on here whinging Plummer. Do us all a favour, and log out eh fellah?
-
'Kmon' what ? Only the site owner can set up a new section, and as I've already told you he doesn't want that sort of stuff on here Now take the hint eh?
-
I'm already in bed Us old folks need our rest Perhaps you'd be happier on a different forum? Don't worry, the school holidays will soon be over and you'll no longer be bored
-
The site owner has decided that he doesn't want stuff like that on here. As we are all here as guests of his, I suggest we all respect his decision Coming on the site is not compulsory; if you don't like it, it's quite easy, just don't log on

Simon Whitehead's Christmas Offering :)
Matt replied to heritage's topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control
Right; I've done a bit of 'editing' because what started out as an interesting and informative thread seems to have turned into a slanging match. To the two members who seem hell bent on a public fight, either take it to PM or pack it in. Your choice. Back on track now please lads -
Simon Whitehead's Christmas Offering :)
Matt replied to heritage's topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control
Yet another great watch. Bob seems a proper character; those of you like PK who've met the man should count your blessings. A 'real' 'Master' molecatcher; and I'll wager he's not a member of any 'club' -
Out with the Dulverton West in the morning, followed hopefully by a few beers and a lazy evening with Mrs Rat

Well lads, you may have got away with it... I've been a professional pest controller for 25 years, and have used Fenns for 35+ years. The bloke who told me that Fenns need a roof to work against was Mr Alan Fenn, who designed the trap. Do as you please, but just because you think you know better doesn't always mean you do
