  1. Yes, its a bit disappointing & unnecessary interfering, from Jeff.Way back, when the concept of a "molecatchers body/group" was being considered, i wasnt sure if it was a good thing, or not ? lol I thought at least it might be able to promote 'mole trapping' as an effective & viable alternative, to 'chemical control methods' against moles ? Cause im afraid i cant find alot else to say, POSITIVE, about the whole idea,...lol Never forget why the GBM came into existence.......... JN was an active member of the BTMR, which is an online register rather than a trade body of
  2. Well, thats not what Cambridgeshire mole catcher David Anderson (cambridgeshiremolecatcher.co.uk) who has been accredited as a 'master mole catcher' by the Guild of Master Mole Catchers thinks. http://www.cambridge-news.co.uk/Doing-battle-Mr-Mole/story-25427100-detail/story.html TC That's not how I read it TC The mole catcher that's been interviewed didn't mention any brands; he just said that he prefers traps to gas or 'poison'.
  3. The APMC thoroughly tested the Beagle trap and refused to endorse it If using an effective, humane and efficient trap makes me a dinosaur, then so be it
  4. Remember that folks on here have been royally shafted in the past Peter. Keep reading, there's nothing wrong with looking for knowledge wherever you can
  5. I don't think anyone feels threatened chap, but you have to understand that some of us have been around for a long time and get a bit fed up with folks reading a book and then setting themselves up in competition, and also certain individuals trying to convince the world that there is a shortage of moletrappers and then setting themselves up to train the unwitting just after selling them books, dvds and intructional guides.... It's human nature I suppose.
  6. Can ya catch them alive Matt??? I might put a film up of me doing that soon..... Get some footage posted mate.... I have done...... the trouble is that likkle Florence loves to munch them, so whenever I flick one out she's straight on it Not that I'd deliberately set the dog on a mole you understand that would be against the Hunting Act Ha ha ....I never flick 'em.... They all go onto a couple of fields that owe me money,,,, I'm having fun repopulating land of a debtor.... There's more molehills than grass now! ha ha LOL... did that once..... a customer

  8. I use a quad to get from A to B. When I'm setting on soft ground I rarely use the spade. I'm more likely to probe and then use my hands to open up. I'll put a film up before too long I'm just about to get very busy...
  9. My garden jobs out here average between an acre and over three acres - 15 to 40 traps. If you can do them in half an hour I'll set you on. Sorry, I was forgetting that French gardens are the same size as some of our smallholdings! Most of my 'garden jobs' are postage stamp sized and I expect I average three traps on each of those jobs. Happily, most of my work is agricultural these days; I've gone from doing six or so garden jobs a week, to about one or two... it suits me nicely to be honest I'd rather be left to my own devices on the bigger farm jobs than have someone co
  10. Sorted I expect you'd accidently hit the underline button
  11. It depends on how much activity it is, but generally, 15 - 25 on the farms. Garden jobs tend to be about half an hour, depending on how much yakking the client wants to do.
  12. Mr Nicholls makes far more out of books, dvds, training courses and other rubbish than he has ever made out of catching a few garden moles As such, he needs a 'profile', and the better the profile, the more he sells If you take a look at some of the previous threads on here, and on the APMC forum, you will see that he's a duplicitous snake, that is more interested in promoting himself than molecatching. Oh, and if you've read his stuff you will no doubt be using Proctor traps, and whilst they seem to have a small following, I don't rate the chinese rubbish
  13. Peter, as has already been suggested, you need a thick skin on here. You should also be aware that Mr Nicholls stirs up lots of ill feeling amongst those of us scraping a living out of traps. He's done nothing but try and restrict us, and has even gone running off to certain animal rights groups when it suits him. I've got lots of books on molecatching, and whilst I can claim to be self taught, I'd not insult your intelligence by suggesting that I've never learned anything from books. My favourite book is by Arthur Randal (hard to come by), but I'd also say that the Guy N Smith b
  14. I agree BUT........ The question was asked about trapping in a loft
  15. Kania. The last thing you need is the phone ringing about a 'clanking' noise coming from the loft Or an upset homeowner as you carry a live squirrel out through the house prior to dispatch In my opinion, the Kania is ideal for loft situations
  16. Insults flying and going nowhere. That's why I locked it.
  17. I suggest you lads use the internet search facilities available, as my name isn't google. The Wildlife & Countryside Act is a good start In the meantime, keep it legal and everyone will be happy
  18. Funny you should mention it today..... When I got home after 7 months of slaughtering on FMD my old lurcher had to be PTS. At the time, I was doing a lot of driven shooting, and wanted a lab to help with the picking up, but not a 'robot' type, so I decided to get myself a chocolate lab. Anyway, to cut a long story short, I found a litter, put a deposit down on a pup, and after a few days took the wife and her friend to see them. While we were there, a little black pup wouldn't leave the wife alone, so after me offering to take that one instead, we decided to take them both (big mi
  19. Whatever you say But, for the record, I if I thought you were posting about illegal activities I'd have removed your post and given you a warning As it is, I'm just clarifying the situation
  20. If you say so........ But for the record, night, as defined by the legislation concerned, is one hour after sunset (dusk if you like) to one hour before sunrise..... Please don't take the mick
  21. No, admin and the moderators are happy to see any legal activities on the forum Just to clarify; 'taking' any birds other than feral pigeons (with permission) at night is illegal. With, or without a lamp
  22. Welcome back Clive, and thanks for your knowledgeable input
  23. Me neither Me neither Nope i cant see it either wont open for me. i bloody hate computers Here ye go lads:
  24. No but as time goes by it may well be essential to have the RSPH2 certificate as a minimum in order to buy your rodenticides for use That's presuming you need or even want to buy rodenticides Even if this utopia that's been spoken of for years ever happens (it wont) those who enjoy killing pests will continue to do so Like I say; don't ever fall into the trap of thinking that those living in penury but thrusting certificates are any better than those who don't.
