  1. The idea is mate that you put all your info into a database for everyone to see....what your doing, where your doing it...how your geting on...who your clients are and all.....then everyone can come and join in and put you out of business!! No wonder all the others are rubbish its the most ridiculous idea ive ever heard. Foxy I think the idea is to be able to record your success or failure a bit like a game diary. I can see it being of more use to the 'hobbyist vermin controller' than a pro pester. As for other people being able to see it, how? The idea is not a new one. You
  2. There is a very easy way to see if it is badger hair. Roll the hair between your thumb and forefinger. If it is smooth, it isn't badger. When you look at the cross section of a badger hair through a microscope, it is triangular in section. If you roll it, you will feel that triangular section.
  3. I did. You know what they are like.... "is it? So what?" I didn't push the issue, because I think he may call at some point. The blowing up doesn't seem to be working very well.......... I half thought about going back and getting some pictures (blackmail hasn't featured on my marketing plan yet, but you never know...), but thought better of it as my next call was to my favourite micro brewery.....
  4. You would be working at the same time? You can only get the basic (RSPH level2) qualification without experience, and that is harder without experience. To go on and get better qualifications, you need to have some time under your belt. If you work for one of the big boys, they will take you on with no qualifications, pay you, train you, qualify you. It's a no brainer really... The BPCA do offer 'on-line' distance learning for the RSPH level 2 (which is the basic entry level qualification). Take a look at their site for more information. The same applies though. Y
  5. Well, what a morning......... Called to look at a mole job this morning. Nice guy, with six or seven acres of horsey type paddocks. Anyway, wandered around with the chap, agreed a price, all going really well. As we looked over the boundry, the neighbour comes wandering over. "He's only just moved in" the chap says. Now the neighbours garden and paddocks are in a similar condition. Molehills as far as the eye can see, so my customer kindly introduces me, and I hand over a business card. "If you want me to do your moles at the same time, I'll charge you both a lower rate" (I charg
  6. For pest control jobs, keep an eye on the Pest Control Portal (Click this link), most companies advertise on there. I've always advised people to go and work for one of the big companies first. The good ones will get you qualified, and they will give you experience. Training courses will teach you how to pass exams, and the theory of pest control, but there is nothing better than finding out how the industry works.
  7. I have just found out the blokes in the neighbouring field has been putting poison down for the rats, i'm guessing that while he was out running the field in the morning he came across a dead/dying rat and ate it because he was a pig for his food, like his father, he'd eat anything. And as for the meat and bones, its was all boiled and mixed with his biscuit, he didnt get much of the bones as i save them for Paddy (because he loves them so much). I am truely, utterly gutted. I didnt want to put this thred on yet, im still devastated about losing him.... so cheers griffo. Gutted! Calcife
  8. Whilst I can see that those boxes are very well made, and have been carefully thought out, I can see a couple of problems with them. Firstly, to work properly, a Fenn needs a close fitting roof, otherwise it will throw its victim clear of the trap and cause a 'foul' catch. I'm not sure if you can reduce the distance between the trap and the entrance to help with that. Secondly, I'm not convinced that the trap will work properly like that. If the squirrel enters the trap vertically, it either lands on it's arse, or it hits the fenn head first and therefore gets caught around the belly
  9. i`m only guessing being a hunting website that he would mean fox rabbit pigeon rats maybe squirrel ?? i`ve not heard of anyone that use dogs on cockroaches you forgot to mention bees wasps bedbugs flys maggots now that would be some sport for a dog ... it would have to be shooting for me -- some sort of chemical for any of the others but then again you cant hunt them with dogs although my terriers are partial to the odd bit of bee chaseing and the lurchers feckin great on flys Here we go again............ So HUNTING = DOGS ?????? Open your eyes and look at the whole site. Not
  10. I was thinking the same thing........... Three or four days at most I reckon...
  11. Moles have stopped a football club using it's pitch! Click here for BBC Midlands Today report.
  12. Are they going to ban the sale of screwdrivers as well? What about baseball bats? How many people are injured by baseball bats each year. I think they should be licensed, and their sale by mail order should be stopped................. Where will it all end.....
  13. Go for a Combo with a sliding door. They are very reliable, and have good mpg. I've had a few astras, and they are ok, but abit low in the back. You start the week with everything neatly organised, and by the end of the week everything is at the rear of the loadspace because it's such a pain in the arse to climb in and out. I'm not a ford fan. A combo with a sliding door would also be better for installation of back seats....

    BULLSH*TERS

Why is it that certain people on this forum think it's only for 'dog people'? Although I keep working dogs, I am not in 'the dog game' as you put it. I get really cheesed off with the running dog fraternity thinking that this forum is just about them. Open your eyes up and see how big this place really is, and what diversity there is. This 'Fieldsports=Dogwork' attitude sucks. It's like the rest of the sportsmen and women on here don't matter.
  15. Fenns work well, and are easy to use: If you have a good session with the traps, the result sometimes looks like this:
  16. You mean a monarch trap? They work fine....
  17. This is the thread Ditchy wrote
  18. I'm not quite sure what 'nervivor' means, but rats are certainly neophobic, which means that they will avoid any new objects. It does sometimes take a while for them to accept anything new on their patch, and they can be quite hard to catch in cages. I would suggest that you revert to a kill trap. Fenns in tunnels (JohnB has Fenns for sale) work very well with or without bait, or you could modify a pro victor trap. The most important thing is to make sure that your housekeeping and hygiene is top notch. Clean up any spillages straight away, and store any foodstuffs in rodent proof c
  19. Three people have contacted me, and all three have had their details passed on. Many thanks to all - I hope one of you gets the job. No more PM's please, sorted now.
  20. Stop 'guessing' and start reading the pinned articles.... Looking at your diagram, it seems that you are setting your snares over the rabbit burrows - whatever idiot told you to do that needs to be ignored in future. You might like to edit the thread title. Currently it reads: 'snares set right but not catching'. A more accurate title would be: 'Snares set wrong and not catching'...... You need to set your snares on runs. The most productive runs are those that go from the buries to the feeding areas. Fence snares are particularly productive. Read through the pinned articles,
  21. Any professional mole trappers on here cover North Essex? I've got someone who needs some moles controlling in that area. If you are interested, and cover that area, drop me a PM urgently please. Ta Matt
  22. I understand that the NPTA are launching their 'Rodent Report' on this weeks countryfile at 11am today. Might be worth watching for anyone with an interest in pest control............
  23. I've got an idea.............. Rather than have a nine foot fence, why don't we put all chickens into cages that are big enough to hold each individual? You could give them the right amount of food, and water, and use electric lighting to keep them laying...... that way, they wouldn't be able to feather peck, and the foxes would not be able to get to them......... Good idea? Back in the real world........ People want free range chickens. If you put a nine foot high fence around them, they wouldn't be very free range would they? It's not just the chickens that get kill
  24. I always give the same piece of advice; go and work for a big company, and they will train you, pay for your qualifications, and most importantly, give you experience. Here is the thread that the stig was talking about.
