  1. He can easily go and get a set up for £300 but if he's buying just to shoot the odd rat he's wasting his money. With chickens he will always have rats. Most of the rats he has he will never see anyway so even if he saw one what are his chances of shooting it? What shooting experience has he got?
  2. Most of the questions I answered by telling them to contact the shooting orgs and ammunition manufacturers for accurate info. The questionnaire made absolutely no sense whatsoever.
  3. America has a gun problem? People use guns to kill other people. In the UK we don't have a gun problem so much but we do have a knife problem in inner cities. Mostly an ethnic issue of young kids stabbing each other for disrespect, whatever that shite means. Anything can be used as a weapon by a nutter but an automatic weapon will kill more, quicker. I can understand wanting hunting weapons etc but why would anyone need something with the firepower of an AK 47? That is only to kill people, not a turkey, elk or deer. God bless the yanks, 10 gallon hats and 2 pint heads. They've lost the pl
  4. I've had one for nearly 3 years, far better than the AA s200 it replaced. Not a pretty rifle but bloody accurate and so easy to work on if needed. All I've done is adjust power, replace a trigger screw, free float the barrel and drill the fill cover so I rotate rather than remove. For pest control it is superlative. Just for fun I have a plastic pigeon decoy at 120 yards across the field, on a still day I can hit that 4 out of 5 from my sofa. It will group within 25mm at 50 yards from a rest, I wish I had one 30 years ago when I was a good shot! I reckon a young bloke with a good eye using a P
  5. If you need rifle only, a GX40 for about £320. If you need full kit go for the MK2 Phox and get pump, scope, mod, bag, pellets etc for around £500. Gamo name but it's a BSA, made in Birmingham, 2 year warranty and cheaper than the Ultra XL which has the same gubbins inside.
  6. This proposed ban is being handled by HSE, there is a consultation document which all shooters can fill out and return online. Has anyone besides me actually done it? It seems that whenever there is an issue around shooting, be it GLs or a lead ban, there is plenty said on all forums but very few actually get involved in a constructive way?
  7. I quit BASC when they reduced everyones cover on the quiet.
  8. BASC were created from the old WAGBI, their core interest and most of their big money comes from gameshoots. Remember the bad publicity when some shoots were caught burying shot birds? Without a market for birds the game industry would close so switching to lead free makes sense. Unfortunately a complete lead ban also affects everyone else like airgunners and rifle shooters. Compare the amount of shot used on a big shoot day compared with that used by a couple of airgunners and it's totally unfair. We can't ignore the health risk side of things even though the risk from a head shot rabbit
  9. True, but I know quite a few shooters who are buying in bulk now with the intention of using lead well after the ban comes into force.
  10. 2025 is the proposed date, the cut off point for using existing ammo stocks is July 2025 so it's only 3 years away. If you think it won't happen, just look at what has happened so far. BASC with a voluntary ban and the EU refusing to allow lead shot game into their food market, that's real enough isn't it?
  11. All kits for the last 20 years, the quality is much better than it used to be.
  12. I just do bottles now, much easier to move around plus I can keep the beer fridge cold easier than a barrel. I just bottled up my winter brews so currently got close to 450 pints under cover behind the shed. Next time you get one stick add a pint of sugar water and some brewers yeast, sometimes you can save it.
  13. They are pure BSA Buccaneer with Gamo trigger and stock. Coyote comes with beech stock. Made in Birmingham by BSA, Cold forged barrel, BSA paperwork and warranty. I saw GX40s recently at £315. They are an older design but very reliable and robust. Replacing the 2nd stage screw with an M2.5 x 10 with a rounded end makes it a brilliant trigger, barrel can be free floated too. I fill to 200 bar and shoot down to 100 bar for 70 shots within 10/12 fps.
  14. Home brewed bitter, never drink anything else.
  15. A ban is coming, no doubt about that but how many will obey it? A survey a few years ago showed over 40% of shotgunned wildfowl still contained lead years after the ban on waterfowl/wetland shooting. Now is certainly not the time to be buying new rifles though. I'm glad I'm close to giving up anyway but I feel sorry for the youngsters who will have their prized rifles turned into innacurate and feeble popguns.
  16. Reputedly good little guns but if anything goes wrong you will struggle to get any parts for it. I replaced my S200 with a Gamo Phox, much better rifle, nearly 3 years now and never missed a beat.
  17. A good start would be use water cannons, arrest them and keep them locked up for a week.
  18. No they're not, if you look at the family tree there's German, Russian, Greek, all sorts. No problem because most of us have some respect for Royals like the Queen, Phil, Anne and the Queen mum. But increasingly they seem irrelevant because they are just symbols and have no power whatsoever, they just have to accept whatever parliament says or does. I wish Liz had the power to chop the heads off traitors like Blair and order the Navy to intervene in the channel and sort out the frogs who are sending illegals over here. But she can't so eventually we'll end up with a black/muslim governmen
  19. Eh? You been on ketamine? Are you English??
  20. Ask a woman about colours? Bloody hell. Might as well ask their advice on reversing while you're at it. Look at how often they change their hair and nails!
  21. My family represents me, so do my friends. The place I love and live in. 5 generations of family still living within a few miles of where we were born and brought up despite extensive travel. Being British is supporting my family and those like them if I can. Remembering and revering those that died in 2 world wars and those that suffered in numerous foreign campaigns fighting for better standards for foreigners who then come over here and try to drag our country down to the level of the camel dirtbox they've just escaped from. Not remote people who mean nothing to me but live in luxury
  22. Maybe, but the Royals could work for minimum wage and pay rent like so many others have to. It's not even an English Royal family, they're German but changed their surname to keep people happy. I liked the Queen mum and Phil the Greek, Liz has shown what a monarch should be like but the rest are hangers on, they fiddle, fail and fornicate and we're expected to support them? Nope, I'd rather lick a cows arse to try and cure chapped lips.
  23. When the Queen goes, Foggy should abdicate immediately. No one wants that prat or the horse faced trout. Let William have a go but pull down Buck House and refurbish Grenfell for them to live in. Sell off the Royal Estates and all the church assets to get the country out of debt. Build a wall around Londonistan with no way in or out and let the RAF use it for bombing practice. See? Enough beer and I've solved the problem.
  24. After not using my account for ages I had trouble logging in, couldn't recover my password either. I was formally timmytree. Could any admin please delete my old registration to prevent dual accounts. Many thanks. Tim
