Did you go to the new forum or were you redirected to the old one? I got in with my email despite a lifetime ban. Try typing in www.airgunforums.co.uk and google search.
-
Well there are a few people that are all nicey nicey on one forum and then go backstabbing on another. Rather childish because they forget there are multiple members on all the forums. The only ones that shouldn't be given a chance are the ones banned for scamming.
-
I think a restart may actually be good for the forum. Previously banned members can join if they want.

Nice thread on the temporary AGF Pete, we may have disagreed in the past but well done on getting the snake out of its hole. Thanks.
-
At least the most unpopular and abusive mod has gone, thrown his teddies and got banned. He really showed his true character.
-
I've just read elsewhere that Andy the site owner has died.
-
Not sure if it's true but I've heard AGF is finished. Apparently no one can get hold of the site owner and one of the mods has started a farcebook group. I wonder what happened to all the extra money they made from people who donated? Whose pocket did that go in?
-
Would you accept a new car with a dent in it? Send the bloody thing back.

I got banned for suggesting cats should be kept under the same rules as dogs.

Same action as the Phox, Venari, Boxer and BSA Buccaneer. BSA barrel. Made in Birmingham. The only bits that are Gamo are the trigger and the stock. I've had one for nearly 3 years, better than the S200 I had before. Look at the reviews on AGF.

Airgun. I don't have a problem with anyone shooting a woodpigeon but shooting it because it might have pecked a flower is totally against the GLs. At least the mods on that forum have taken action and removed the post.
-
Another example of a complete wanker from another forum. He shot a woodpigeon that was supposedly pecking flowers in an old ladies garden. What a bellend! Then posts it and gets congratulated by the other wankers who think blasting a woodie at short range is great hunting. By the way, anyone ever seen woodies eating garden flowers?
-
I started shooting in the 1960s with airguns, a garden gun and a .410, mainly woodies for the pot, starlings in the fruit trees and rabbits around the farm. Yes, corvids were better controlled and should be again, my point is that whatever we report should in print, appear totally legal and following the rules in place. I still shoot magpies regularly, my reason is to protect the sparrows which is a valid reason. I don't report my shooting any more, I would rather just do it and keep quiet. The only people who get that information are the landowners, but I've also refused to shoot on occasions

Maybe that "messing about" has been part of the problem? When it comes to shooting anything live shouldn't we know the law and take it seriously? I agree things are out of balance but we've had the GLs for 30 years and too many shooters still don't have a clue. The challenge by Wild Justice was a response to that but also highlighted by someone shooting in woods near Packhams house without any good reason, just for fun. Loss of thrushes? Easy to explain that one, how many gardeners and farmers used slug pellets in vast quantities? They also kill snails which thrushes pick up and eat. Large num

Thanks, it's meant sincerely. We are at a point where we may lose any pest control shooting in a few years due to the lead ban and possibly a renewed challenge on the GLs. I think we'll follow other European countries with a ban on live shooting with air rifles. When the first challenge to the GLs by Wild Justice happened I signed up for their newsletter to see what we were up against. Well I can tell you that they are far more up to date with the laws than most shooters, they made us look like uneducated idiots and actually they weren't far wrong, most shooters really don't have a clue about

This is a favourite topic of mine. As a 64 year old countryman I appreciate ALL wildlife, it's all there for a reason and needs to survive, that's what gives us diversity. We might not like a magpie or a jay raiding a nest but that is nature and all those species have survived for 1000s of years before human beings started interfering. Predators have never wiped out a species, humans do it regularly. How do we pick what we should control? Robins eat anything and will fight to the death over territory, the tits and swallows, martins etc eat insects that are vastly reduced in numbers, blackbird

I agree, it would be better to say protecting sparrows or thrushes which is a valid reason. Where do you think Packham and Wild Justice got all their information about illegal shooting from? Forums and shooting mags I bet. Just in the last few weeks I've seen a post elsewhere about someone needing to shoot 300+ pigeons to fill an order, supplying the food trade. Better to just do it and say crop protection.
-
90% of oak trees are planted by jays. I leave them alone for that reason.
-
Unfortunately blackbirds aren't on the red or amber list so technically you should have left the magpie alone. Or said nothing.

BSA GRT Lightning XL SE Air Rifle
Timmy H replied to Deker's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
It will be 5.5mm. The only good bit is the barrel. -
Cheers, I had an idea earlier, my favourite spot is also where I have permission to use an air rifle, might be worth rigging up a filler for the airbed from the PCP air bottle!

Good on you for getting the lads out and about, that's making good memories. My grandad and uncles used to take me and a few cousins in an ex army tent, grandad would dig a firepit by a stream, fill it with embers and put in a couple of metal cake tins with whole chickens or rabbits in, chopped spuds and carrots. Cover with more embers and let it go for about 2 hours. Greens cooked in a cast iron pot. The same pot would be used to make bread every morning, eaten warm with fried eggs and a bit of proper fat bacon.

Has anyone tried the self inflating mattresses in Go Outdoors? I've always done overnight camps win the woods with a hammock and tarpaulin but I've bought a 2 man tent to use on Exmoor, Dartmoor and the Somerset coast, so far using a 3" foam mattress. Very comfy but takes up too much space unless I can get the car close. I use a gas ring mostly but i've just ordered a little stainless steel multifuel burner which packs flat, should be here on monday so I'll try it next week.

If the Jubilee was worth celebrating it should have been done properly. Beacons should have been seen from end to end of the country from every hill. Those bloody things last night weren't worth bothering with. Get your history right, beacons date back to the time of Viking invasions, not the twats from Toledo and Benidorm.
-
What a bloody disappointing and frankly pathetic display! I went to a good vantage point that gave me views over the Quantocks, Burnham, Brean and Weston, Brent Knoll and the Mendips and across to South Wales. I was expecting some real beacon fires but it seems most of them were stupid little gas powered things no better than a fag lighter. Previous shows have been spectacular but last nights effort made a tealight look bright.
