    Just got back. A pair of saplings from a non-ped whippet sire and greyhound dam were being schooled; Nice lookers, and a handy size, around 22” and 40 lb. Upgraded from hand timing to electronic timing; Even had a beddy whippet having a run up. Great way to spend an hour or two on a sunny Saturday morning. Cheers.

    Yes, every one is welcome, you can have hand slips, runs out of traps ,timed runs, whatever, only £1 a run. Or you can have a time trial and enter the handicap, there’s handicaps for pedigree and non-ped whippets and one for lurcher racing. It would be best if you could come for an Open Race as there’s a lot more dogs and the fastest dogs in the country would be there for the scratch racing, but if you fancy an hour or two at our little club on a Saturday morning I’d meet you at my house , the tracks only a few minutes away.     When I was a kid growing up in the 50’s and 60’s, and were moved out of Central Newcastle to the suburbs during the slum clearances, the demographic was exclusively white working class. Then, on our new build council estate in the suburbs, we only had two kids at school who were “different”; a half caste girl who’s dad was Jamaican and came over on the Windrush, how he made it this far north was a bit of a mystery; and a Polish lad who’s family came over after the war to work in the coal mines.     I imported a bitch and she had to do six months quarantine. When she came home she had lick granuloma’s on both front feet. I tried various vets and cures but none worked . Eventually I used Fuciderm daily in conjunction with a plastic head collar. It took months to cure and had to be careful it didn’t recur. I spoke to a retired vet I used to shoot with and she said it was most likely caused by stress and boredom in the quarantine kennels. Cheers.

    My grandson loves his horses and was literally on a horse before he could walk. I told his mother it must be the combination of the Irish and the Bedouin in him ! She just smiles indulgently at my nonsense! Cheers.

    I’m only joking mate, if people want all the paraphernalia that’s fine, I’ve never condemned any type of hunting, but I like to be un-encumbered when I’m out day or night , travelling light and not losing a fortunes worth of kit if it comes on top ! Cheers.

    I had night vision over 30 years ago, I bought two Russian sets off some Dhagastani Haji’s . Tried them once out lamping and sold them. I’d rather just go with my lamp. Same with daytime, just me and the dog. You lads are paying more for thermals than I pay for a car ! Thermals, range finders, binoculars ? Just get a gun FFS ! LOL ! Cheers.

    I go out daytime to enjoy the walk with the dogs and get a run or two on a hare……not to creep about, tooled up like an SAS Trooper reconnoitring enemy lines ! LOL ! Cheers.
