Northumberland fells, mate. I’ll run a dog anywhere, heather and scree up the highlands, down to the fens, across to the paddocks of Ireland, even ran around the Hull area and Selby ! LOL ! A hares a hare to me, they’re not a mythical beast, your dog will catch or it won’t. Anyway , Whin never tired of telling us the best hares in the world were around the east coast and Berwick…..ran them aswell ! LOL ! I just try and enjoy my sport, no need to pretend I’ve got the best dogs, best land and best hares. Cheers.

Most types will catch a hare if they have a decent percentage of running dog in them but it doesn’t make them “hare dogs”. The saluki hybrid is undoubtedly, in my mind, the best “hare dog”, but that doesn’t necessarily make them the best lurcher. ”Horses for courses “, as they say. Cheers. Two of my first cross deer/greys; They have the same deerhound blood, but the first bitch was out of a coursing bred Irish greyhound sired by Mafi Magic, the Irish coursing champion. The second bitch is out of a racing greyhound, sister to Westmead Hawk. They were around the same weight, 75lb, and the coursing bred is 28 1/2” and the racing bred about 29 1/2”. The coursing bred, to my eye, is slightly shorter in the back but definitely has more “bone”. They both have the same running style and speed. Cheers.

Been there, done that and, literally , got the T shirt ! LOL ! My daughter’s fiancé was Gunnery Sergeant with the Marine Detachment at the American Consulate in Jeddah and we would have a drink at their Brass Eagle bar on a Wednesday night. Thursday night it was drinks at the British Consulate where my son worked. Not bad for a supposedly “dry” country ! LOL ! Cheers.

My missus has just been renewing her Saudi visa but she won’t be going during Ramadan, she’ll fly out on the last day and get there as it ends. The young and the old arn’t expected to fast, but the country goes upside down during Ramadan, people sleep during the day, get up at dusk and then eat. The shops are closed , mostly , during the day and open all night. Shes going for our grandsons birthday, it’s on the 10th, but as it’s Ramadan , they’ll wait till it’s over before having his party. Tomo won a competition one year and was runner up the next year ,with a whippet/grey x deerhound/grey. Seeing that would give you nightmares you’d never recover from ! LOL ! Cheers.
