  1. Hey Hob, massive long shot, but I new a guy in Saudi who lives in Abercynnon, Phil Curry, right into rugby, drinking, etc., as I said, a long shot, but who knows ? Cheers.
  2. Mush, where do you get your information from ? I owned a pure bred Beduin Saluki in the Middle East for 17 years, a completly seperate breed from the Sloughi, which is a native of North Africa; as different as a Greyhound and a Deerhound in the West, and not a "new breed " by any means. Cheers.
  3. Next door neighbour just paid £750 for a show type Beagle pup, so what price the fabled "all round lurcher" ? If such a beast exists and came onto the market. Cheers.
  4. It seems to me people are having a go at you because, 1, the number of dogs you have, and, 2, the number of litters you produce. If your dogs are given the care and attention they deserve, and your pups are going to decent homes, I can't see what the problem is. Although I have 2 dogs and find it a full time job training and taking care of them; both kennelled outside, seperatly, by the way. Cheers.
  5. A good show, first time for my pup, of course the judge was totally biased!!!! (just joking, the pup that won my class deserved to.) The bar was freindly and cheap, just supprised there wasn't more people using it! My missus won a bottle of wine on the entry draw, which we are drinking now. Canny day oot, looking forward to Bedlington next week, maybe Geordie judges won't be so biased, my pup is a Bedlington cross after all!! Cheers.
  6. I did a Google search for "Murton cricket club" and it brought up some place near Swansea!!!!!! Cheers.
  7. I'll be there. I'll have the old Doberman and the Lurcher pup with me, if anyone wants to say Hi. Cheers.
  8. A few month ago I caught and returned to it's owner a German Spitz that had been living wild for 3 weeks; the "missing" poster said it could be mistaken for a big cat, and sure enough, my first sighting from about 200 yards, it looked just like a big black cat. I keep an open mind to "big cats", but I'm sure 99.0% of sightings are something else. Cheers.
  9. First time I was in NZ I started counting the road casualty possums on my way from Auckland to Tokaroa, soon gave up, litteraly hundreds!!! They were a pest in Toke, sitting up on the T.V. arials and ruining the reception. Up on the Coramandel there was cards in the shop windows advertising for pest controlers to kill possum for a wage and a tail bounty. I was told never eat them as a lot have been killed by poison. Cheers.
  10. Best of luck Paddy, enjoy the site, we all have opinions, mine normally when I come in from the bar!!! There really are some top class blokes on here, they will take the piss when warrented, but allso give good advice when needed!!! Cheers.
  11. Paddy, I ask if you are for real because we often get people on hunting sites who are not exactly as they seem. If you are genuine you must be naive, just look at the replies you have on other threads you have posted. As a young man you seem to have answers/opinions on subjects you simply can not have much experience of. I honestly hope you are genuine, we need youngsters coming along, but please; we all now know of your uncles success in the Forley, please keep posting, but think before you post Cheers.
  12. Hi Countryman, I think Paddy was replying to me, I mean no offence but his posts just seem to come over to naive, I could be wrong, just my post *** paranoia!!!!! Cheers.
  13. Well I hope not, 'cause you'll soon be found out if you are. Cheers.
  14. I try to keep out of contentious threads, (!!!!), but is this Paddy kid for real or just taking the piss? I honestly don't know! Cheers.
  15. I used the red rind from Edam cheese on both live catch cage and snap traps with good success. You can mold it round the trigger and it's difficult for the rat to pull off. Cheers.
  16. Sargeant allready!!!!!! Well done Jake!
  17. Watched two hares chasing each other round for 20 minutes this morning, the good news is there hasn't been hares in these feilds for more than 30 years!!! Hope they settle and breed. Cheers.
  18. Hmm; I think Liz McCormick, Lakey and a few others may disagree with you!! Cheers.
  19. Actually theres not too many crosses in her, 1/4 terrier, 3/4 longdog. I took an instant like because both parents are genuine workers and both breeders are genuine dog men who still take an interest in the pups. Many years ago hare was the be all and end all of my interest, but now it's mooching about, feretting and a bit lamping. If she shows promise on hare, fox or deer, then doubtless she will get a go on them, but rabbit remains the priority. Cheers.
  20. Did I say deerhounds are crap? I said they were breed for deer and not rabbit and hares doesn't mean they cant catch them just means 99% of them aren't going to be the best at R,H. salukis weren't bred for rabbit and aren't the best at it but they will catch them, they have the wrong running style for them. cross one with a greyhound and its a different matter as are 3/4 greyhound 1/4 deerhounds . As you say It's a pointless argument, as they say horses for courses. Mush, don't take things so personally, I was being rhetorical. I love ALL running dogs, I had a pure Beduin Saluki for 17 yrs
  21. A guy asks a simple question; " Deerhound crosses, anyone still use them?", and as usual it turns into a "this X is crap, this X is great, my X is better than yours" nonsense. To answer the question, there are some guys in Scotland, who are on this site, who are not getting involved in the arguments, but must be laughing their socks off as they own 1st and 2nd X deer/greys that are awsome on hares. It's a pointless argument, 'cause you get the X you think is best for you; anything from a beddy/whippet to a deer/grey. Cheers.
  22. Had my Lurcher pup at the vet's today for a couple of stiches in her foot, nothing serious. While I was waiting I saw a poster for the anti-docking campaign. There was 'photos of various docked breeds with full tails, some indeed looked strange, Jack Russell, Rotweiller, for instance. But the one that caught my eye was the Doberman, the tail made it look racier. My own Doberman is docked, but after seeing this photo I wouldn't mind if she had a tail. One of the arguments for docking is that terriers that go to ground should be docked, erm, what about the Bedlington? The goverment should keep o
  23. Welcome aboard mate, no, your not ancient, thats old fogeys like me who were at Pelaw and Stanley in the 60s and 70s !!! All the best. Cheers.
  24. Are you honestly telling me a whippet is 2 1/2 seconds faster than a greyhound over 150 meters? If you believe that, please tell me where you race and I will bring a greyhound and match your best, purebread whippet for any amount of money. Mush, we are on a different wavelength, in terms of pure M.P.H., a greyhound is the fastest pure bred dog. I agree about distance, my old saluki would beat most dogs over a great distance, but could not reach the outright M.P.H. of a greyhound. Cheers. P. Whippet, as per your times, a handicapper would have to give the greyhound 39 metres start over
  25. Sorry mate, a pure bred whippet will not beat a greyhound over any distance, ask any genuine whippet racer or courser for an honest answer and they will agree with me. Nothing against whippets, I've owned far more whippets than greyhounds, simply stating facts. Cheers. P.S., how's the stag pup coming on? Mush, what purebreed of dog do you reckon is faster than a greyhound ? Cheers.
