  1. Wasn't that cold up here mate; me and LDR had a look out local and we had everything from gale force wind to dead calm; driving rain to mist and then clear, all in a couple of hours !! Cheers.
  2. He also evidentely used Bloodhounds in his crosses aswell !! But the Bulls and Bloodhounds of his day were nothing like the pale imitations we see today !! Cheers.
  3. Our local council will come out and chip your dogs, free of charge. If the warden picks them up and takes them to the pound, they will return them, free of charge, the first time; second time they will phone you and charge £25 for you to get them back; pretty reasonable, I think !! Cheers.
  4. Nice to see the winners looking like Lurchers, rather than Greyhounds and non-ped Whippets !! LOL !! Cheers
  5. Here you go; Devon & Somerset Staghounds; Cheers.
  6. Hylts; you're getting very Cantonaesque !!! You know, sardines and trawlers, etc. !! Moving "down south" has done wonders for your philosophy !!!! LOL !!!! Cheers mate !
  7. I feed her raw lamb and beta greyhound, she gets 2 x 2 miles a day road walking and some free running. As well as a couple of nights a week lamping. I started ferreting last weekend so we'll be out a couple of days a week from now on. I didn't start working her proper until after her first season as she was a little slow maturing physically. She's doing well on the lamp and if her first time out ferreting is anything to go by she'll earn her keep.. She's a really steady laid back bitch a real pleasure to be out with. Fair play to you Mally, you are doing a grand job. I spent
  8. I know the area and the pub very well, and I'm very supprised at this ban on two counts, 1, the Bigg market/Groat market area is renowned for the hen and stag parties, usualy in outlandish fancy dress, where a kilt would look almost normal, and, 2, Tom, didn't you tell me the kilt was invented in the North East of England ?? LOL !!! Cheers
  9. Not being a "smart f####r", simply passing comment on a very nice dog; don't be so touchy ! Cheers.
  10. The Reserve Lurcher Champion owner told me his dog was Irish Terrier X Deerhound/Greyhound, very nice, stong dog. Cheers.
  11. The best WORKING lurcher I have seen in over 40 years has only had two second place rosettes at shows, but then again, it's nowt to do with the dogs; it's all to do with the owners, (and their mates) !! Cheers.
  12. its earmarks indicated it was born 2000 of a litter of nine, no matter when they were born they become one year old on the 1st of january and a year older each following January Never said she had n't coursed said she had n't seen or even coursed a brown hare and thanks for the pic Y.I.S Leeview Only relaying what the Lady owner told me during my conversation with her. Born Oct 2000, Waterloo Cup Feb 2005 = 4 year old, not going to nit pick, it was the first time I saw the bitch and took the Lady at her word. A class bitch, ( the dog, not the owner, LOL !!) !! Cheers.
  13. Heres that American bitch from the Waterloo Cup; 24", 45lb and it was 4 year old at the time. It HAD coursed regularly in the 'States, according to it's owner. If we are talking purely MPH, then it's a no-brainer; the Greyhound is faster than the Saluki, fact. To the people who say the Saluki would cut across the track after the hare and other such nonsence; pure desert bred Salukis are raced on the track in a few Middle East countries, especialy the U.A.E., with good affect. I've seen them and met some of the owners. There biggest worry is people trying to inject some Greyho
  14. Sky, you say "bred out of"......., "bred from"......, what is your pups parents; what are their parents ? A lovely looking pup, but "Cruise" was a long time back !! Cheers.
  15. I ordered a gated panel from them; they quoted £11 delivery, I paid for it and they then sent a confirmation e mail, still £11 delivery; two weeks later, they phoned me and said they had made a mistake, now £33 delivery !!! I cancelled the order ! Cheers.
  16. This one, (3/4 Deer x 1/4 Grey), has recently retired after 4 seasons up north on the reds. Definately NOT a show pony ! Cheers.
  17. each one 2 there own mate, my opinion is a hare should be coursed and not shot! i shoot aswell but would never think of shooting a hare, i would rather give this fine animal a chance to prove itself one on one with a lurcher than fill it full of lead, just my opinion lads Never shot a hare in my life, and never would ! Cheers.
  18. hi mate i think we all would prefare daytime but times change and were pushed into things we would rather not do but thats life take care mark I'm not saying I wouldn't take a lamped hare, just prefer them daytime. The hares where I encounter them must be good'uns, 'cause no collie would take them !LOL !! And if you are out after a bag of rabbits, all a hare does is tire your dog out and lessen you chance of a good bag of rabbits ! There are times when me and LDR go out for specific quarry, but that doesn't prevent the odd "accident" !! LOL !! Cheers.
  19. I was talking to a guy just last week who was part of a keepers shoot at six mile bottom that shot over 900 hares in two days !! So I can't see the problem in lamping a few with the dogs. In answer to the origional question, I've had two in a night, but that was by accident, when lamping rabbits; I personaly prefer daytime for hares, pre ban, of course ! Cheers.
  20. My bitch, Delta won the rough lurcher bitch class; and she had just got back from a full weeks work down the country, she is also in the lamping competition that is organised on this site, so you should realy get your facts right before going on about "non-workers " !! Cheers.
  21. This one was a fair size; didn't wheigh it, but it felt over the 20 lbs ! Good old days, pre ban, of course ! Cheers.
  22. Where have I said that ????????? I have mentioned a mixi rabbit that me and LDR had that ran just as well as an able bodied one !!!!!!!!!!!! Cheers.
  23. At the end of the day, it's slip for slip, so any anomalaties should even themselves out. Cheers.
  24. Remember that mixi one Delta had that night on Gins land ??? The bugger ran as well as any able bodied rabbit !! They should count; all rabbits slipped on and caught should count. Cheers.
  25. Cancelled, as far as I know, for their refusal to accomodate docked terrier pups !! Cheers.
