  1. Your vet is probably right. Theres been a few posts over the years with saluki types having this problem, something to do with protein, and with the correct diet, theres a good chance they will grow out of it. Cheers.
  2. I agree with BL; taking on any 14 month lurcher can be fraught, but more so with a Saluki X. Did the previous owner do ANY training with it ? What was the reason for passing it on ? If it all comes good with the bonding and training, you'll probably have a decent dog; good luck with it ! Cheers.
  3. Surely it's better answering a negative post with a positive one, showing what the dogs have done, rather than getting into an argument ? Cheers.
  4. Who slated him ???? It's called having a laugh !! Whin enjoys it !! Cheers.
  5. He was ferreting 1200 feet above the highest point in Britain !!!! That REALY IS A "TALL" Story !! LOL !! Cheers.
  6. A bit more info would be helpful Cheers.
  7. This was my moment of glory I remember both those shows, the one with Moscow and the one with Zeus !! That wee waster Chipper gave me a "second" with Moscow, and both Joe and I wanted the rosette for above our mantlepieces and Joe insisted on arm wrestling for it !! He won, best of three, but he cheated on the decider, lifted his elbow off the table !!!!LOL !!!! I supplied and presented the trophies when Zeus won, but I wasn't the Judge, so no impropriety there !! I saw Zeus a few times after you gave him away, and the lad allways had him in good nick, Andy. Cheers.
  8. I felt sorry for old Shay, his career went to shit when he left the Toon, and last night he just about reached the bottom, shame as he was a class 'keeper at one time. Cheers.
  9. Moom, I allways thought you were a fan of the Minshaws; what was it that put you off them, mate ? Cheers.
  10. Ha ha ha book depository - Dealy Plaza and people who love their 'shooting' love that!!!! Yeah, there IS a certain irony in that !! LOL !! I sat at the window on the 6th floor and took imaginary aim...... that Oswald must have been a good shot to make a head shot on a moving target from there !!! Cheers.
  11. Baw, I'm not convinced about the white hare theory; it's a bit like saying deer dogs might go for horses or cattle ! My dogs will pick out a deer in a horse or cattle field and completely ignore the other beasts, and all the other deer dogs I've seen done the same. I could be wrong, as I've done very little with white hares. I think some dogs like the wool and can't be broken to it no matter what. Cheers.
  12. Hi mate, whereabouts in NZ are you ? I've spent a bit time around the Tokaroa area, lovely country !! Welcome aboard !! Cheers.
  13. I wonder if that's where Cookiemonsters combine harvester that he lost, ended up !!! Cheers.
  14. Cheers B ..aye he was a ok matey ..once he was up the arse of them it was "goodnight" ..had some gear with him and like you say he's bred a few handy mutts,he's grandfather of your Diesel and sire to the big dog and also the blue bitch..not sure if he would of done it over the Border though on the big flat fields lol ATB Andy. Aye, it takes a mythical beastie to run the Biglands of Brigadoon !!! Cheers.
  15. I'm sure that's right, as he mentions it ALL the time ! Cheers.
  16. I just wondered if he had added a bit of the old stuff to the coursing lines, bit like Jack and Tomos bitch, what if the pups from that line were added to day stuff ? Just thinking out loud ! LOL ! Cheers.
  17. Try salmosphezzieslobsters@dslieghtbchapmanbobkizzietorofdartmor.co.scotlandthebrave Cheers.
  18. Andy, when Vic moved on to coursing day dogs, do you know if he had any of the old stuff in them, or did he go down a completely different line ? Cheers.
  19. Did you give the lad who's dog you used, and has one of the pups, the DNA print out? Which dog was sire to his pup ? Cheers.
  20. Selective breeding is fine; but how does putting two dogs over the same bitch, and not knowing which one is the sire to the pups become "selective" ?? Cheers.
  21. That was a good week wasn't it mate, think we ran more that week than most do in a month. Always welcome here mate you know that Lamping untill 2 in the morning, then back out at 4.30 goose shooting !! I was running on adrenalin, (and vodka) !! LOL !! Cheers.
  22. No argument from me ! I think it's been a good discussion. As I said, I'm a big fan of Whippets and I've owned and worked them, but for the work I do with dogs, a Lurcher is a better option for me. A dog still has to be fed, excersied, trained and kenneled well, wether it's a Whippet or a Wolfhound. Cheers. PS, you'll notice the only pics I've put on this thread is me with Whippets, that's even me on Mallys post, with his Whippet ! LOL !
  23. Nice pic, was a pure whippet? No, it was a Non-Ped Racing type, back in the 60's. Cheers.
  24. I got half a dozen Bovens Goldline Hybrid P.O.L.s for a fiver each last year and they are laying an egg each every day. Cheers,
