I may be wrong, and I'm sure the coursing lads will put me right, but didn't the "Merlin & Eve" lines have Bedlington in them ? Cheers.

whats the worst motor youv been lamping in ?
chartpolski replied to george15's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Tomo; I had the "Vanden Plas Princess", the wedge shaped one, black, with tinted windows, blue velour plush seats, trasnsverse six cylinder !! Looked the business; but what a heap of shite, and you're right about the fuel consumption, but it wasn't so expensive in those days ! I think the best motors I had back then were Viva or Morris 1000 vans ! Cheers. -

I had the estate, (shooting brake), version of the Prefect !! My first car. They were called Ford Anglia, but were nothing like the other Anglia. Worst motor I lamped in was a Simca Van, not a bad motor in itself, but mine had no 1st gear, and I had to reverse up steep hills !! LOL !! Cheers. -
I haven't seen too many first cross Beddy/Greys on hares, but I know of two that caught daytime hares. The sire to my bitch Delta, a Heartbreak Fell 1st X, could take them, and way back a pal of mine had one that could do 2/2. and the odd 3/3, but I suspect he was an exception. I don't think they are meant to be out and out hare dogs...just decent allrounders, that can take the odd hare. Cheers.

Taxidermists and collectors pay decent money for Albino animals. I've never seen an Albino Brown Hare. Cheers.

Might help attendances if you give a list of classes ? Cheers. -
my friends got a collie whippet and it squeals when it gets close andWhen the hare - rabbit turns when we first ran this dog we thought it was hurting so we took it to a few easier spots and we realized it was squealing in frustration when it went for the grab and missed we had to run it in the day to notice this. I am new to this hunting dogs but what I have realized is evryones situation and expectations are different and this is why there is always someone getting slated on here as long as your dogs please the man or women who feeds them is all what matters so asking on here what makes a d

surely thats down to the dogs capabilities, rather than its heart, dogs cant run forever, but i agree, with the pulling up or losing heart, a dog which dont give 100% when you know it can, is what i call a jacker I'm not sure what you mean in your first sentence; but there are dogs that don't have the capabilities to catch a good hare, but will die trying, these dogs are not "jackers"... then there's dogs that have the capability to catch a hare, and do one day, but the next, they put in a halfhearted run, and give up, even tho' they still had a chance; these dogs, to me are "jackers".
-
A "jacker" to me, is a dog when, say, running a hare and it gives up or doesn't try, when there is nothing obviously wrong with it. No "heart", "minerals", "bottle", whatever you want to call it. A dog that gives up on a chase, because it has been run into the ground and has no wind left, or is carrying an injury, isn't a "jacker", the owner is an idiot.... but there are still people who will call a dog a "jacker", when it simply has no more left in the tank !! Cheers.

Country Music was a Whippet/Greyhound, running about 30 years ago; so there won't be many of his genes still in those pups. http://www.thebwra.c...s=5&db=bwra.dbw Cheers.

Both dogs have a great look to them, what lines is the rough coat from? Doxhope Knights Errant (Deerhound) x Rivington Ena (Greyhound). Cheers.
-
These are nice, tight feet, aswell, (no; not the ones in the slippers !! LOL !!); Cheers.
-
Now these are good feet, (the dogs, that is !! LOL !!). A young non-ped that is absolutely flying, at the moment; Cheers.
-
Why doe's a dog have to have "big feet" ?? Surely small, tight , well constructed feet are better than "big feet" ?? Cheers.
-
Just do a "search" on here for "minshaw" & "wrecking crew"; I think there may be one or two references to those names !! LOL !! Cheers.

As far as I'm aware, there is no cure or prevention for kennel cough. A retired vet told me that. She said the only cure is rest and time. Most vets will take your money and give youre dog shots and tablets, but it still takes time to get over. As Swagboy said, you can give kids cough medicene to relieve the syptoms, but it won't cure it. Cheers.

Far from sporting.........But if some find it a good way of taking one for the pot, filling a freezer, or selling a few; then I'm not going to judge them ! "Let Him Who Is Without Sin, Cast The First Stone", or so they say !! Cheers. Maybe, or is it just that some people have double standards? Well, as I've been on a hare shoot, (Shock, Horror !!), lamped foxes of the back of a 'keepers truck with a rifle, been on formal pheasant and partridge shoots, as well as my other nefarious countryside activities, I doubt I could be accused of double standards. Cheers.

Apart from the legalities and morality of it; isn't it a good thing that some turn their hand, (and dog), to something else when the full moon is up ? Cheers.

I think Lab was saying it COSTS the shoot £3-4 per LIVE poult. A game deasler will only PAY about 25p per bird, but SELL them for about £6 Cheers.
-
£6.95, oven ready, at the Game Dealers in Newcastle. The last time I was beating, the Dealer was only paying 25 p each for them, so the shoot owner let us take as many as we wanted, as it wasn't worth him transporting them to town. Cheers.
