  1. I've seen people showing 10/12 week old pups at shows and in my mind that's just wrong ! No one can tell what a pup of that age will turn out like, they haven't even got adult teeth yet ! By all means take a pup, when it's fully innoculated, to a show to socialise it, but keep it out of the ring until it's old enough to show a bit of movement and confirmation, etc, Cheers.
  2. Not having a pop, mate, but if he had "the turning circle of the Titanic", how did he take so many hares ? Cheers.
  3. Feck Me !! Four pages about a collar for sale !!! It must have been worn by a "MINSHAW" at one time, to get all these replies !! LOL !! Cheers.
  4. Working injuries are part of the game with working dogs !! Learn some rudimentry dog first aid, expect some vet bills, get some insurance, or get out of the running dog game, simple as that, realy ! Cheers.
  5. Maxhardcore ran a coursing bitch in the last lamping competition, and those who saw her were quite impressed. Cheers.
  6. Yes, of course some, maybe most, dogs are better daytime or night time. Thats not the point. I thought we were on about having a dog that hunts up during the day, but also works the lamp well ? I've found that almost all dogs I've seen or owned do this, and it just came as a bit of a supprise that you seemed to think that dogs that hunted up during the day were incapable of lamping well, and vice-versa. As I say, I respect your opinion, but it's inconsistent with what I and others believe. Cheers.
  7. I'm confused now... I thought Bigfannydaddyshagger had Maveric down in Hampton Shire ??? Cheers.
  8. BTR1083, I respect your opinion, but with all due respect, you say you are "the younger generation", have you any experience with lamping dogs ? I ask this, because just about every dog I have owned has worked day, hunting up it's own quarry; and night with the lamp, and returning as soon as the beam is off. Now, almost every one I've known in the game was the same.. their dogs worked day AND night to varying degrees of proficiency. I know pedigree Whippets that do all aspects of hunting, ferreting, lamping, and do it well. You are either putting your point across not very well; or you are bas
  9. All you young'uns know nowt !!! This is the REAL Maverick; Brett, (James Garner) !!!! Cheers.
  10. I think the answer may be in the title of the post ? Cheers.
  11. I didn't comment as I didn't think it WAS a spelling mistake !!! LOL !!! Cheers.
  12. Buy the best possible lamping set up you can afford, because if you get the lamping "bug" and you've only bought a cheap lamp, you will definately be getting rid of it and upgrading !! If you find that lampings not for you, you can allways sell a good lamp and get at least most of your money back ! The choice of lamp is up to the individual; I use a 240 Blitz; some find them to big, but the beam is unbeatable ! Cheers.
  13. Every posts a lesson charts, i have been to the desert in Western Australia whin, thats bigger than New Mexico state, we can go like this all evening I drove across the Rhub Al Kalil, (the Empty Quarter), once. I think that was bigger than Lincs; couldn't be sure, but I think so. Cheers.
  14. Well, well, well.......... New Mexico is bigger than Lincolnshire . You learn something new every day on here !! Cheers.
  15. Sagar looks like he's thrown very much to Vixen; and that can't be a bad thing !! LOL !! We'll put him thru' his paces when I come down in september . Cheers.
  16. Just doing a quick calculation in my head; I make it very slightly over ONE hare per day Hardly mission impossible !! Cheers.
  17. Andy; did you used to get your jackets from Jimmy Saville's charity shop ?? LOL !! Cheers.
  18. Don't know any of them . An why do people have to have a problem when questioning someone's claims? It's a forum that's what it's for. Do you think he caught 10,000 hares? Andy and I have had our "moments" in the past, but I'll say three things; !, This has been one of the best threads EVER on here, mainly down to Andy's pics and stories. 2, I've no reason to doubt what he says, as he has walked the walk. 3, He goes out of his way to be diplomatic, never slaggs others or their dogs, even when answering people who are slagging him and HIS dogs !! It says a lot that there
  19. p***y, you obviously have a problem with either Andy, his family or Minshaws in general. Why even look at the thread if it winds you up so much ? And I can understand why all the hare pics are from the 's & 90's ........ THE BAN CAME IN 2004 !!!!! Cheers.
  20. I don't know mate. I think he also bred White Alsations ? Cheers.
  21. But would you risk trading, almost certainly, some speed, for a bit more stamina in a line allready renowned for it's stamina ? Cheers.
  22. But aren't Minshaws renowned for their stamina any way ? Why add something that MAY give a bit more stamina, but would almost certainly detract the speed ? Cheers.
  23. I can't see what a Husky would add to a Minshaw, or any other line, for that matter. It would seem by this thread that Minshaws are predominately Collie/Greyhounds, with abit of Deer and Beddy way back, and a bit of Bull more recently. I think they are doing alright without adding any "exotic" blood ! Cheers.
