how much rest after coming off heat
chartpolski replied to jack2o's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
If you are unlucky enough to have a 6 monthly bitch, and you give her 3 months off after every season, you're NEVER going to get any work out of her !! My bitches are yearly, but I still work them; yes, their performance drops off slightly, but nothing to worry about. I've done this with every bitch I've had and noticed no adverse affects on their health ! Cheers. -
If it's what ytou want; it's not to dear....... If you want a cheap pup; it's to dear ! Cheers.

What more can a Greyhound add to a Lurcher line other than Speed ? Don't get me wrong, I like at least 50% Greyhound in my Lurchers, but I can't see what else they add apart from speed.I think they are the only base breed to add this in the amount needed. Yes Whippets can add speed, but not as much. Salukis add stamina and all the other breeds add their bit; nose, coat, feet, etc. But for the life of me I can't see what else a Greyhound adds ! Cheers. Drive Courage, desire to chase.biddability and athleticism.I think some of these attributes are lacking or diluted in other si

There were a handfull of Deerhounds at a show recently, and, although I'm a fan of Deerhounds, these looked as though they would struggle to catch ANYTHING ! I have a first cross, (Doxhope Knights Errant x Rivington Ena), and in my mind she is not far off what I think Pure Deerhounds should look like. The Pures have mostly been spoiled by th KC, and some now resemble Wolfhounds !! I hope there are still some working type pure Deerhounds around, as they have a lot to offer Lurcher breeding. But as long as the first crosses are worked and bred correctly, we should be OK for Deerhound bl

How come so many people buy in adult dogs?
chartpolski replied to skycat's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
What will you do with the adult dog once the pup gets going ? Cheers. -
If you doubt what I say; then I respectfuly suggest that you don't know to much about saluki's Cheers.
-
I'm talking about PURE Salukis throwing smooth and fearhered in the same litter Cheers.
-
Not realy..... Beddys and Deerhounds have rough coats; salukis are smooth coated and feathered, Salukis can throw smooth and feathered in the same litter. Cheers.

Bruce was an 8 week old pup when LDR got him Cheers. -
This same discussion happened years ago on here, and the coursing lads were adamant it couldn't happen, but other lads put pics of dogs up that were feathered, and swore they were first crosses ! I was intriqued and asked a Proffessor at Newcastle University, and he reckoned there was no genetic reason to prevent it. Who knows ? Cheers.
-
The general opinion will be "no", but there are people who swear that they have feathered first cross Saluki/Greys ! So, basicaly believe what you will !! Cheers.

I'm getting an egg a day off each of my Bovens Goldlines, (Hybrids) They cost a fiver each from a local farmer. Cheers.
