Some say I'm argumentitive....... BUT I'M BLOODY NOT !!!! RIGHT ???? Cheers.

A newbie and allready thinking about breeding a litter !! How old is the bitch ? Has it done any work yet ? Is it worth breeding from ? Cheers.
-
Now these boys have some "sparking plugs" on them !! Cheers.

Wouldn't everyone ? But does a good worker HAVE to be ugly ? Doe's being "pretty" preclude being a good worker ? I think not !! LOL !! Cheers.

I personaly wouldn't pay £300-£400 for ANY dog.......... BUT, as far as Pedigrees go, Whippets come in at the "lower" end of the price range. How much would you pay for a Deerhound or a Saluki; £600-£1000 ? And what about shite like British Bulldogs ? £!000-£2000 !! It's called the law of supply and demand, If idiots will pay it, people will charge it !! Cheers.

Doesn't seem to matter Charts, mine is pedigree, and still has satellite receivers Although i did not get a reply earlier in this thread to this... Prick ears refer to ears that are pricked all the time. Cheers.

There has in the past, been Pedigree Whippets that excelled in all three jobs; showing, coursing and racing. It's still possible to have a pup from either lines and have it do well in the others. I think the Breed Standard IS important, as when, such as in Non- Ped Racing, the standard is ignored, you get tremendously fast dogs, but they are basicaly bred down Greyhounds; and with the BWRA 55 lb limit, sometimes there is no difference and they may as well be called Unregistered Greyhounds ! Now, before anyone takes me to task, LOL, I'm a great admirer and supporter of BOTH Types, Ped and N

Been to NZ a few times, too. Same again, they love their hunting and fishing. No foxes there though, but any amount of deer and pigs; Cheers.

Can't say for sure, Steve, but it was before I got married, so that would be about '71 or '72. Started lamping with Non-Ped Whippets then went on to Lurchers. I realy prefered daytime then, but soon got the lamping bug ! Cheers. In them days did you have more of a right to roam or could you still get shipped of to OZ  When did they stop that carry on early 1900s?? Be alright if they still sent offenders off there now I would have a wee walk on the darkside LOL !! It was just as hot then, mate !! What we do/did was ALLWAYS ilegal, never mind the ban !!! You

'Keepers were lamplng with hand held oil lamps in the 1800's , but I suspect Bill is talking about the late 60's, early 70's. That's when I remember lamping becoming popular here in the North East. Cheers.

Bad ear carriage, weak chests, etc, etc !! LOL !! JUST JOKING, mate A pair of fine examples !! Cheers. -
Which one won, Dave ? Cheers.

If I was judging a Whippet, I would mark it down for bad ear carriage, and also weak chest; BUT I would consider a weak chest a far more serious fault than bad ear carriage in a Working or Racing Whippet, and, as you know, I, also, like a Whippet to look like a Whippet, and have made my feelings known on other forums about 55 lb "Whippets" !! LOL !! Cheers.

Lab ? A MOD ?? In the name of God ; Noooooooooooo !! Cheers. Count yourself lucky or you and Dotty would be for the highroad................ You take the high road; and we'll take the low road, and we'll be banned afore ye !!! Reminds me of some song or other Cheers.

If I gave him nothing at Birr, it'll definately have been because there was others that conformed to the Whippet Standard better than him. That's the reason I prefer judging Whippets than Lurchers. With Whippets you have a recognised standard to work to; with Lurchers, it's basicaly what takes the Judges eye. Birr was a good show, and a few people even came up and thanked me and shook my hand, people who didn't win, even !! Shows are just for fun, in my mind. If your dog pleases you in the field, then you have a WINNER , whatever it's ears are like ! Cheers.

"Prick" ears IS a fault in SHOW Whippets........ but means absolutely NOTHING in working or racing Whippets. Cheers.

The Lurcher is allways changing and evolving. This is what seperates it from it's KC cousins. In my life time I've witnessed the rise of the Saluki Hybrid and the Bull Cross. These were virtualy non-existent when I started. Have they improved the Lurcher ? I'd say yes in both cases. Shows have changed massively since I started, and I still think the Lurcher is going in three directions, Show, Race and Work. This won't be to the detriment of the WORKING Lurcher; they will still be bred by lads who want workers. But the show and race types will proliferate, and prices will go up and up. I'm also h

We didn't know what "Biologically Appropriate" meant, when we first started feeding bones and raw food !! LOL !! Cheers.

Not to be picky or having a pop but you make it sound as though it is a specific brand of food "a few places sell it" and "it usually comes in 1lb packs". Could be misleading to someone who doesn't know. It doesn't have to be commercialised. It can include butchers scraps, meats from supermarket, raw veggies etc. You can even feed game you catch yourself wow lol i just answered the guy, what would i have to gain oot it??? it does usually come in 1lb bags, an loads a places are selling it now, even local little pet shops, no its not a brand, i never said it was, an neither di

BARF isn't a trade name mate. It means bones and raw food. The protein level, as has been said, depends on what meat you feed. Mine get lamb, chicken, beef, liver, game, etc. and they all have different protein levels. Cheers.

Without seeing better pictures, or, better still, seeing the pup first hand, I'll reserve judgement. The 1st pic shows nothing, how can you compare that pic with the 2nd pic ? If they were both side on, or both front on, then I would hazzard a judgement. If you can see something I can't see, good luck to you ! Cheers.

look at the legs pal It's a terrible pic of a young pup !! What are we supposed to deduce from that ? I'm not disagreeing with the lad, but he could of given a bit more evidence of "neglect".............pal. Cheers.
