Some years ago a pal said he’d take me up Scotland for a run on the fallow. His dogs were old hands at them but my bitch, almost nine years old, had never even seen a fallow or run out of a motor. She was a good hare and roe bitch and I wanted to give her a go on the bigger stuff before it was too late. Anyhow, we slipped her on one and she pulled it and held it until we got there without any drama. We didn’t dispatch it, didn’t even take a photo, just broke her off it and released it. You don’t need to have any quarry to be done for “going equipped”. Anyhow, I’ve always used my head , if it’s local , stash the kill, take the dogs and lamp home , change your boots and go back to collect the “road kill”. If it’s far from home, go in two motors , one for the dogs, one for the kills….its not rocket science. Cheers.

The two “going equipped “ laws were amendments to an existing law, so they went through without a vote, not that it would have made any difference apart from it being more discussed. Anyone thinks it’s nothing, is in for a big shock. It’s almost as if “innocent until proven guilty” had been reversed ! I could be coming back from a lurcher show and get a pull, it would then be up to me to prove I’d been at a show, not coursing. Cheers.

I’m a bit of a political nerd, I talk to family, friends, people on my WhatsApp groups and , of course. “ the man down the pub” , or the allotments, in my case. I see feelings running the full spectrum; from fear through indifference to anger, but many , in fact the vast majority , are deeply against the status quo. What will happen ? Well, my own opinion is Reform will win the next General Election, but Labour will have left the country in such a state Reform will have great difficulty in turning things around, and people will say “ see, they are just the same as the rest !”. I hope

Longest “ mother in law “ joke ever ? LOL ! Things ARE changing with the British mind set, Wilfy, yes, a long way to go, but people are fed up with the legacy parties and news and are saying “ what the hell, let’s give Reform a go, they couldn’t do worse and might just be better”. Ive noticed on GBNews the obligatory lefty’s are moving away from Starmer and the Labour Parliamentry Party. They are still trying to defend Socialism, but not as it’s being applied by Labour. I don’t know enough about vaccines to debate the pro’s and con’s, but I am old enough to remember going to school with poor buggers wearing leg irons because of polio, a disease all but eradicated in the UK because of the vaccine. Cheers.

I had a dog shot by a keeper, early 70’s. There’s lads been done already for going equipped they had running dogs in the motor and were driving around the lanes at the fens, I think they were from Manchester. Cheers.

How many of us are aware of the two new laws that came into effect in 2022 concerning hunting hares ? Colloquially known as “ the going equipped laws”. This means if you are pulled in an area known for hare coursing or lamping, walking your dog on a lead or even if you are driving in your motor, and have a running dog, a slip lead, binoculars, a lamp, a thermal imager or anything that the police deem as “equipment for catching hares”, you’re nicked ! Maybe so but it’s nothing to do with hares, he wants to race a non- ped, I’ll sort that out for him, if I asked them to race him on a hare they’d think I was stupid. THEY ARE RACE DOGS , NOT COURSING DOGS. I don’t see what’s so difficult to understand. If he wants a match on hares, Max will match him with his lurcher. Cheers.

The breeding is terrific! The non- ped side has two of the fastest ever dogs, Sky Warrior and Lord Snooty. The greyhound side has Westmead Hawk and England Expects. The coursing side has Splodge and Fettle. Top class breeding, if it all “clicks” they’ll be some dogs. I haven’t anything in mind, I could end up with a whippet or another deer x, who knows ?
