I've tried to avoid getting involved in this, as I actually have a "dog in the fight". My eight year old grandson is half English, half Saudi. At the moment he is in the Middle East at the World Academy School. He is taught an English, American, Arab curriculum, he is fluent in spoken, written an reading English and Arabic. He is also taught the quoran and the bible and all other religions. If Hamas were to harm him, I would want the whole of Gaza, the West Bank, the Golan Heights to be wiped of the map ! Conversely, If Israel were to bomb him, I would want Israel to be also wip

I rest my case, m'lud ! Cheers.

So you think he should be our number one striker? He has proved to be very good when available, but there's a reason he's miles behind Kane in the England set up....Kane is usually available to play, Wilson isn't, as will be proved this coming international break. If that's your opinion, I can respect it but not agree with it. As for proving to be more important than Shearer........well. I'll just drop out the conversation now. Anything I say is just my opinion, I'm just a fan, not an expert, but how can it be disrespectful to state the obvious ? Cheers.

I'm assuming tongue in cheek ? I wouldn't have any Man U player , we aim to be better than our peers, not take their cast offs.. Seriously though, I can see the "elite" teams making overtures to Howe, but I hope he is in for the long run with Newcastle with the backing of the owners and the board. He has the backing of the fans, but we all know how fickle fans can be ! We think it's a long term project, even though we would like instant results, we will just enjoy the roller coaster ride , after all, it's far better than we've had under the Ashley/Bruce regime. Cheers.

I'm loathe to make excuses for Newcastle, but with players like Botman, Burn, Tonali, Bruno, Isak, Wilson, all automatic first team choices, missing then losing Miggy early on, there's no way I could see us beating Bournemouth. All teams go through injury crisis, and it's our turn at the moment. Ive argued with my nephew, a mad Toon fan, that Wilson is a liability, yes, he scores when he's fit, but he's too injury prone to depend on. We need an elite striker, first and foremost, and a top class centre half at the least in the next transfer window. This wouldn't be a problem

Was that Grebby’s shortest incarnation yet ? He’s a right little scallywag, ain’t he ? LOL ! Cheers.

C’mon young’un , think about it ! LOL ! Cheers.

I was speaking generally, I couldn’t tell what type of cistern that was. I look at it a bit like brakes or track rod ends on a car, I wouldn’t just change one side, I’d do both while I had the tools out and the car on jacks. Same with a cistern, it would only take minutes more to change all the components while you were at it, and the extra cost is negligible and you’ve got peace of mind that one of the other components isn’t going to fail in the near future, but I bow to your experience. Cheers.

He’s already been summonsed to court so the prosecution is underway . He may evade a guilty verdict, I hope so . Cheers.

It's false ecomomy to just change one part. You can bet your life another part will fail within weeks. Best to change the flometer, ball valve and donut all in one go when the water is off and the cistern is in bits. The parts are so cheap it makes sense . Cheers.

Change the flushometer, ball valve and donut all at the same time. Cheers.

The sad truth is that the vast majority of voters only see a two party system. They say “ well, we gave the Tory’s a go and they were shit, so we’ll give Labour a go this time even though they are shit as well” ! Cheers.
-
I wasn’t clutching at hope, just giving a dispassionate opinion, I’d far rather Farage became leader of the rump Tory party after they are decimated. Cheers.

She’s playing the long game, mate. Shes saying things that most right of centre people agree with. When Sunak sacks her, she will agitate from the back benches and when the Tory’s get decimated at the general election she will step forward and become leader of what’s left of them and they will, hopefully, become a true right wing party. Just my opinion of course. Cheers.

I'm sort of in the same way of thinking; if it does kick off, you just know that the Labour/left wing press will say it was the presence of "right wing thugs" that lead to the trouble. When Sir Mark Rowley, the Met Commissioner, said today that he could see no reason to ban the march, I kind of hoped that it WOULD kick off and he'd have no option but to resign. How the Prime Minister, the Mayor of London and the Met Commissioner all refused to take responsibility for banning the march and passed the buck backwards and forwards just shows that no one is in charge, no one will make a d

The only air gun I currently own is an old but very good condition BSA Meteor; My brother gave it to me and all it needed was a breech seal to bring it up to spec. I was given a Webley & Scott Tempest air pistol by an American pal and I couldn’t believe how powerful it was, I made a stupid mistake of selling it for £70 to a lad . Wish now that I’d kept it ! Cheers.

Mackem a snob ? From Sunderland ? C’mon ! FFS ! Cheers.

Brexit. Success? Too early to judge? Disaster?
chartpolski replied to jukel123's topic in General Talk
You know better than that, ,Wilf, don't confuse freedom of movement within the EU with illegal immigration and legal non-EU immigration. We are out and moving further away, albeit very slowly. As I said, it's not the Brexit I voted for, but it's better than the alternative that the majority of MP's and the establishment tried to foist on us. Itll be a long haul, but as the remainers scare stories continue to be unfounded , their wails will get less and less and more distant. Cheers. -
Brexit. Success? Too early to judge? Disaster?
chartpolski replied to jukel123's topic in General Talk
We are out of the single market and the customs union and freedom of movement and they are the huge parts. The rest, although very important, is just tinkering around the edges to sort out. The remainers, or traitors, as I prefer to call them, were actually hoping and working for Brexit to fail at great economic cost to the UK simply so they could say “I told you so” ! Of course it still isn’t the Brexit we leavers hoped for, I wanted a complete break, a hard Brexit, the one that Cameron actually put on the ballot paper ; “Do you want to leave the EU AND ALL ITS INSTITUTIONS “, (my c -
No mate, don't do that, I enjoy your posts, but you have to understand the UK isn't the land of the free. we need a license to fish, a license to watch tv, we can't own handguns,we can only hunt rabbits and rats with a dog, (you can't even do that in Scotland now), I could go on and on but it gets too depressing.... Cheers.
-
Wolfs; I get the impression you still don't get the draconian gun laws and restrictions we have in the UK ! If you were shooting doves off the power lines in the city limits here, you would very quickly find yourself surrounded by a rapid response armed police squad with a helicopter overhead ! And I'm not exaggerating ! Cheers.

Napoleon considered snipers using air rifles to be so feared and dangerous that he ordered anyone captured to be executed immediately, not to be treated as prisoners of war. Cheers.

As I said, opinions will differ . As for Havertz; I’ve seen people sent off for less, but to me, it’s not the severity of the offence, it’s about consistency . On the one hand, they are seemingly trying to drive contact out of the sport, but then don’t apply their new rules consistently. But I’m not going to get too worried about it, we are riding the wave just now; I thought the games against Man U, Arsenal and Dortmund away , in three different competitions all in the space of one week, could define our season. A win or a draw on Tuesday at Dortmund would be , honestly, more tha

Got to disagree, Wilf, both the ref and the linesman thought the ball was in play and allowed play to go on, and the ref gave the goal.It was VAR that thought it may have been out of play and instigated the check. Without VAR the refs decision would have been final, and he had decided it was a goal. Cheers.
