  1. The two stud dogs that have probably had the most influence on non/ ped whippet breeding; Bilko; Blue Peter; Cheers.
  2. Another top non-ped stud dog from yesteryear; Rch. Haymaker; I had a pup sired by him, out of my brothers bitch Flossy, a 32lb Rch Yorky boy x greyhound bitch. Cheers.
  3. Max’s two young bitches; Both out of the same coursing bred bitch, but the fawn one is sired by the pure saluki, Snickers, and the black one sired by the non-ped Sky Warrior. It will be very interesting to see how they compare in pace, stamina, etc. I look forward to seeing their progress ! Cheers.
  4. He’s right into football now, but he still has his horse; Im not sure if he takes after the p***y side of my family or the Bedouin side of his mothers family ! Cheers.
  5. The Slacks and many others ran deerhound crosses around Selby and Drax for years. Cheers.
  6. No mate , they are doubles ! Its a picture Karen from Ruweis Salukis sent me from Bahrain. Cheets.
  7. Done, mate. I think it’s a good thread if it’s kept on track. Cheets.
  8. What on earth has that got to do with this thread ? The original poster asked opinions on mating his coursing bred bitch with a non-ped whippet, I gave my opinions and an example of a non-ped, iIndian Joe, being in the line of some top class coursing dogs. Take of the blinkers mate and enjoy the ride . Cheers.
  9. Not the point; if people like Karen’s father hadn’t imported Salukis from the Middle East, you’d all still be running deerhound crossed ! LOL ! Cheers.
  10. Hmm… not sure about that. An old acquaintance of mine, Karen Fisher of Ruwais Salukis has had coursing Salukis since her father imported them from Saudi and Bahrain many years before they were seen in Hull ! Notice the cropped ears; Two of her dogs; Cheers.
  11. To be honest I don’t know any one who works a top class racing non-ped. They are only interested in winning races and getting the elusive Racing Champion title. Then again , I’ve never met a greyhound owner who’s aim it is to win the Greyhound Derby running their dogs on hares . Its all down to what you want, if you want to add a bit of speed to your lurcher line, use a working whippet; if you want to use the very fastest, use a racing non/ped. There’s pros and cons to both. Cheers.
  12. Very late 60’s , early 70’s. Cheers.
  13. Back on track. Perhaps the greatest non- ped stud dog, Supreme Racing Champion Good As Gold; Cheers.
  14. Both a pair of c**ts… one literally, one metaphorically. Salam Alaykum.
  15. "The History Of The Coursing Dogs Of Great Britain" is only a minor part of the curriculum I have set for my young protege on his long road to enlightenment and nirvana ....... Namasay.
  16. Just spoke to Max, he remembers a 16 dog stake he won with Splodge and either Carson or indie was in it and he thinks Indian Joe was in their breeding, Just a bit of interest, and better to be reminiscing about dogs than arguing about politics and covid ! LOL ! Cheers.
  17. Bits and pieces are coming back to me, I think Carson and Indie had Indian Joe in their line, maybe grand sire or great grand sire. Im sure Max will know, I'll ask him. Cheers.
  18. Wracking my brain here mate, but I seem to remember Carson being sired by Indian Joe, or the "mad moustaches " dog Bob, which was sired by Indian Joe. All a long time ago and memory fades ! Cheers.
  19. Perhaps Shearer was put to an Indian Joe bitch, I don't know, just that the two names were mentioned. Can you remember any of the bitches Indian Joe lined, or any of the offspring ? Cheers.
  20. I don't know, that's why I asked. I just remember talking to lads about Indian Joe and the name Shearer came up. Cheers.
  21. Indian Joe; A top class non-ped from, I think around the Carlisle/Brampton area. I know he was put to some coursing bred bitches and produced good class offspring. I could be wrong but the name "Shearer" comes to mind, perhaps the coursing enthusiasts may know some of his offspring ? Cheers.
  22. Adding a GOOD non-ped to any lurcher SHOULD add early pace and speed. I can't see any other benefits, certainly not coat, endurance or "bone". Im definitely not knocking whippets, pedigree or non-ped, as most will have noticed, I'm an enthusiast ! It all depends what you want and need from a dog, but adding non-ped to a line will , usually, add early pace and speed, if that's what you feel is needed. Cheers.
  23. Using “irony” in the correct context ! My heart is bursting with pride ! Cheers.
  24. The dozy deer x would have run past them and into the fields looking for something to kill and getting me into deeper trouble ! LOL ! Cheers.
